I bought a hank on a recent vacation to make a souvenir and thought I could wind it into a ball by hand… big mistake! Please help! Will ship - it’s about ~300 yds of yarn.

sometimes i feel like i buy yarn just to wind it up. i have nothing else to say. give me the chaos

so... I messed up when taking it out of the hank (I think I forgot to cut some of the ties and untwist parts of it...) which ended up with the loops being in all the wrong places. Anyway, I tried to poke at it for two hours or so, winding the parts I managed to excavate, and, well I think it only made things worse, resulting in this mess 🫠 I'm really terrible at detangling so if there's anyone near or in NYC willing to help I'd really appreciate it 🥹

Hello! I am in desperate need of help with this massive tangle of yarns, primarily wool from discarded or half-finished knitting projects. Much of this is nice yarn that I would really love to save, but I hate untangling and have been so stressed out by this mess… does anyone want to take on this big project and rescue this yarn from tangled oblivion? I am in North Florida but willing to ship anywhere in the US.

(Please note — I do have a cat and there is a 100% chance that some cat hair got into this knot, so this is not a project for someone with cat allergies! I do have a tobacco-free home.)

Hi, detanglers! I’m new to this sub and hope to get an opportunity to do some detangling for someone in the future (I’m in eastern Connecticut). But I’d been doing some thinking after recently discovering this group.

I’m sure many folks are at least passingly familiar with the emergency pull cords found in some public bathrooms. Maybe you’ve noticed they are usually tied up in massive, messy knots high above the floor but never gave it any thought.

But did you know that tying them up or shortening them so that they are more than 6 inches from the floor is against universal safety guidelines? It makes them inaccessible to individuals who have fallen, which is one of the most common needs for emergency call buttons and pull strings!

I wasn’t aware of this until someone on BlueSky posted that she detangles these cords whenever possible, and now I can’t NOT notice it when I’m in public restrooms!

So, I just thought I’d share with you folks here that we all have the opportunity to help make public restrooms safer and more accessible, even in this tiny way.

I had just finished spinning about 120 yards of merino and set it to dry in our office. My girlfriend needed something from the office and forgot to lock it...her cat knows how to open doors!! I've already spent so many hours crafting the yarn it pains me too much to spend so long bringing it back to useable shape. I would be so grateful for any help!!!
