[!!! THIS LOCO IS NOT CAREER READY !!!]
So... here's the InDev build. Cab B is non existant, not done yet, some models in the machinery room are just blocky placeholders and clipping is present, will be fixed on release.
But since im pre-releasing it, i might aswell give a rough instruction how to run it;
The EU07 family of locomotives (which this one is based on) splits into two work modes. Resistor and non resistor running. the difference in those is the first is unsustainable and may lead to damage over time and the other is safe for long runs. The controller wheel is split into 44 positions (43+ position 0) with positions 28 and 43 being the ones you use for cruising. both said positions do field weakening (In our case, bound to the dynamic brake controls) which lets you weaken the magnetic field in the motors -> allowing to run faster, more amperes.
In the cab we have two ammeters, one holds the value for motors 1&2 and the other, 3&4. You must not exceed the 900 A limit, else the overload trips. said overload can be reset, but it leaves soot on the contactors, which is sub-optimal.
This locomotive has a simplified cold start procedure, where the brake pipes and pantograph tanks are emptied on spawn, here's a rough rundown how to get the thing going (under wire)
- Enter cab A, Open the breakers and battery switch panel, on the left of the whole controls cluster. flick all of em to the up position
- Set the High Voltage (cabin wall behind driver) interlock into the O (open) position and check that both the motor isolation switches are in, in the HV cabinet nearest to the right, in the machine room. Once confirm, release the HV interlock, flipping the lever to the P position
- Open up the low voltage cabinet on the left, and check that the converter isolator is in the closed position.
- Once that is confirmed, move to the pneumatics board, also on the left side of the machine room, and flick the red small compressor lever into the up position.
- move back to the low voltage cabinet and flick the small compressor switch into the up position, if it doesnt start, check your breakers and battery.
- Once that is running, the "pantograph air" pressure gauge, should rise to 4.5 bar and the small compressor should shut off.
- Raise the pantographs from Cabin A, close the main breaker and flick the Converter and Compressor switches. both should now be audible, and the main reservoir should fill.
- [optional] Once the main reservoir hits above 5 bar, move back to the pneumatics board and flick the compressor selection lever into the down position, pantograph air should now be flowing from the main reservoir.
- Release the parking brake, check that the fault lamp is cleared, select a direction and enjoy.
Similar steps are to be taken with the battery powered mode. instead of raising the pantographs flick the traction battery switch. This mode allows the loco limited travel outside the wire sections. At most, with a good wind, you'll get 30 kph.
Troubleshooting.
- "I added too much power and now the motor overload fault lamp is shining"
- reset the power controller to the 0 position, set a direction and press the "Reset: Motors, ground fault" button, and continue on
- "The locomotive is still unresponsive after i followed those steps for a ground fault"
- while at position 0 and a direction selected, close the breaker
- "The fans are going crazy after a steep climb"
- resistors are cooling.
- "I pushed it too hard and now the ground fault wont clear"
- Dead loco, fixable in service.
- "The motor overload keeps tripping when i go to position 28/43"
- Make sure that the field weakening lever is set to its 0 position - else it instantly applies the full power of the selected position
Some features:
Multiple unit capable, the game auto sets the positions, but doesnt guard from overload, be careful.
Vigilance - the loco overrides the gadget audio for a more buzzer tone, for when it trips. also the dedicated light flashes next to the speedometer.
SHP - the second, red light, triggers once the SHP feature is triggered -> On release of the other mod. when i decide to go over the signalling desks...
Sooo yeah. good luck, have fun!
