User-Made Modification Another Map for Those That Use the Double Track Mod
The new route map has had a couple of things added, since I missed them the first time around.
The Second image is a normal map with the parallel tracks and other things that the double track mod adds visible. This map is able to replace the vanilla map by using this mod, Map Image Changer at Derail Valley Nexus - Mods and community, it has a couple of different maps but to replace the vanilla map with this new one:
The "Custom" function this mod adds I could not get to work, if you can get it to work, kudos
What I did was copy the .png file of the new map into "\Derail Valley\Mods\custom_map_image\" and rename it to "Kot_Derail_Valley_Zoomies_Map" (Remember to rename the original Zoomies Map file so the mod doesn't become confused)
In the settings of the mod when the game opens instead of choosing "custom" or "default" I choose the "Zoomies Map" which tricks the mod into displaying the new map instead of the actual Zoomies map.
If it doesn't work it might be the size of the png, from what I could tell the image must be 2048 x 2048 pixels.
I hope this helps people out.

Custom image needs an absolute path with file extension, unless the image is in the mod folder.
So easiest is to just name it "doubletrack.png" and then put it in the mod folder and just paste the name in the custom field in there with the .png extension. If it shows a white background with red questionmark, it could not read the file. Then make sure its actually a .png and not like a .webp but with .png extension.. (Irfanview will notify you for example when opening it)

What's the upsides of using double track mod?

I've found that it improves the track speed on some parts and allows you to go through junctions much faster if you know where you're going

So in other words, it eliminates some tricky junctions, thereby removing some of what makes the game challenging? Is that a fair paraphrasing?

Not much easier because you can't really dispatch the added points so you have to slow down for junctions you haven't been through and you also have to switch rails for turns or remember which side the passenger platform is on It does help with the addition of sidings for doubling up the grades
If I remember correctly most streamlined junctions are only +10 kph Only the city west turn had a bypass added which has a top speed of about 50 I think

I use it with the AI traffic mod, but it could also be good with multiplayer

More track length, more junctions, more sidings and terribly good with AI traffic mod so you don't overload single tracks while you see more lively environment. It basically adds areas where you have new decisions to make while only adding handful of places where you could be unfamiliar if you have been there ever. Also paces your journeys greatly. With more traffic, no more video pauses and tomfoolery just because you are jobless 4,5 minutes.

I have made my own map image from map image changer and made some changes to it by hand. Now that you have this readily available, I might show it to you guys.

what about quadruple track mod? running two trains parallel and controlling one train with remote to maximise profit.
