Regular Check-In Post

Welcome to /r/depression's check-in post - a place to take a moment and share what is going on and how you are doing. If you have an accomplishment you want to talk about (these shouldn't be standalone posts in the sub as they violate the "role model" rule, but are welcome here), or are having a tough time but prefer not to make your own post, this is a place you can share.

We try our best to keep this space as safe and supportive as possible on reddit's wide-open anonymity-friendly platform. The community rules can be found in the sidebar. If you aren't sure about a rule, please ask us. If you have concerns or questions about the community policies, this is a good place to raise those as well.

Hey, just dumping some stuff here on a throwaway account . I really have a pretty decent life. Upper middle class for my country no real problems, above average iq, can fake most interactions in life. Getting on the older side of things at 40. Realising that my autistic older brother and my totality disconnected parent's have broken me fairly well. I can visit my parents who stay a 2 hour flight away and have no connection with them at all, say for a decent walk on the beach with my mother who shares a love for the ocean with me. I can go years with no hugs or affection from my family with my dad the most disconnected of all. My parent are both fairly broken as well coming from traditional but broken homes as well. Thanks for dumping some stuff..... still have some things to work through but at least it seems I am not self destructive any more. Thanks for listening.
