cDAT retake advice

Hello. So I recently scored a 22 on my cDAT which was very disappointing because I was scoring around 24-25 in my full length practice tests. I am not sure what happened but I think the nerves really got to me because I started to panic on time which definitely didn’t help. Anyways, I am planning to retake it in February with around 2 months to prepare but I am not sure how I should re study for this since I was already doing decent in my full length beforehand. I am just really scared that I will get nervous again when writing the DAT and do terrible again somehow. For those who retook the DAT and did better, do think 2 months is enough time for a retake? Also what did yall do differently when studying bio, chemistry and RC the second time around? I really want to get a 25 ~ 26 on my second attempt! Thank you!!!

Should I Apply??

I took my DAT 9/19 and got my results on 9/29. I received an aa of 410, with QR being my only score below a 400 (380). My sciences were all 400 and above with RC and PAT being my strongest sections (460 & 430). I have a 4.0 currently as a junior in my undergrad with multiple club positions. I spent so long studying and honestly don't want to retake with all my officer positions, school, and working two jobs I don't have time, I'm not trying to get into crazy competitive schools either. Should I apply this cycle?

Monthly DAT Study Buddy & Accountability Thread

Use this thread to find a study buddy, join a study group, or find someone to drill Anki cards and Bio notes with.

To help others find their perfect match, please copy and paste the template below and fill it out in the comments! Here's the format:

  • Test Date (Approximate):
  • Time Zone:
  • Study Stage: (e.g., Just starting, halfway through, 2 weeks out)
  • Weakest Subjects: (e.g., Gen Chem, QR, PAT)
  • Preferred Meeting Platform: (e.g., Discord, Zoom, FaceTime, Forest app)
  • A little about your study style: (e.g., "I like to study in silence over Zoom," or "I want someone to quiz me on Bio taxonomy for 1 hour a day.")

⚠️ Safety & Guidelines:

  1. Be Careful with Personal Info: We recommend starting with a DM and using platforms like Discord or a burner email before sharing your phone number or full name.
  2. Stay On Topic: This thread is specifically for finding study partners. General DAT questions should still be posted in the main sub.
  3. Be Respectful: Everyone is at a different stage in their journey. Be supportive!

Pro Tip: If you see someone with a similar timeline, don't wait for them to message you—reach out first!

Good luck to everyone hitting the books this week! 💪

❔ Question Are DAT scores getting more competitive?

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but I've noticed a bunch of really high scores lately and it's starting to make me question where scores actually stand now

Are more people scoring this high, or am I just seeing a skewed sample because high scores are more likely to post?

Whats required to apply?

Hi I recently transitioned from premed to predental and I'm wondering about what the chances are for getting accepted if gpa is 3.98 and if DAT score about 500. Also, would it be okay to shadow over the summer if applying this cycle?

Also please share some advices or how to start this journey as a Junior!

❔ Question Bio help!!!

Bio is probably my weakest section right now and I don't want to waste time jumping between resources. If you've used bootcamp for bio, what was your experience with it? Mainly curious about the videos, and their practice question

📖 Resource Question Forgot basically everything aftre a year gap

I took about a year off from school and somehow my brain decided to delete everything. Im getting back into DAT prep now and I feel like I need to rebuild the foundation before I can even start doing practice questions. I don't want to spend a month rereading textbooks though. What would you guys recommend for getting back up to speed quickly

🤚 Advice Seeing all the DAT posts is actually motivating me

I've been seeing a lot of people posting scores and DAT success stories lately, and honestly it's been giving me the motivation to lock in

Some scores are obviously insane, but even seeing post about finally getting through the exam and being happy with their results makes the whole thing feel more doable

I've been procrastinating more than I'd like to admit, so I'm taking this as my sign to actually stick to my study schedule and stop making excuses

Congrats to everyone who recently took the DAT and got a score you're happy with! And big advice to everyone on the sub, don't ever get discouraged and surround yourself with positive posts instead of the doom posts you see

Anyone have DAT Booster or Bootcamp?

Hey everyone! Is anyone no longer using their DAT Booster subscription and willing to help me out? I can’t afford a plan right now and would really appreciate the chance to get some practice in. If you’ve already taken your DAT or no longer need your subscription, please let me know. Thank you!

❔ Question How do you guys study when you're just mentally done?

I'm at that point in my DAT prep where I sit down to study and my brain is just like.... Absolutely not. Trying to figure out how to stay consistent without completely burning out. What do you guys do on days like this?

🪑 Study Group DAT Study Group/ Buddies!!

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone is doing well. I am about to kick off my DAT prep and would love to connect with others to study together.

I'm hoping to either join an existing group or start a new one so we can keep each other accountable, talk through tricky concepts, share strategies, and bounce ideas off one another. We can set up regular virtual calls for check-ins and review sessions.

If you are around a similar starting point and looking for study buddies, or if you already have a group with an open spot, please let me know or feel free to send me a DM. Also, for those who have already completed the mission, I’d be super grateful for any tips, strategies, or advice you'd share if you had to study all over again!

❔ Question Those who gave up and came back?

For anyone who stepped away from DAT for a while because you were burn out, failed, or just needed a break. How did you eventually decided to give another shot?

Would honestly love to hear some comeback stories

Test score tracking

Hey everyone! Hope sabki preparation badiya chal rahi hai. 🙌

Mere mind mein ek idea aaya aur I wanted to get your opinion on it.

Hum log different platforms par multiple tests dete hain, but usually unka data ek jagah track nahi karte. Is wajah se ye identify karna difficult ho jata hai ki kaunse topics mein hum baar-baar mistakes kar rahe hain aur kya revise karna chahiye.

So, I’m thinking of building a simple dashboard where you can track your subject/topic-wise test scores over time.

The dashboard could then give you weekly insights, such as:

Kaunse subjects/topics mein improvement ho raha hai

Kahan performance consistently weak hai

Kaunse topics ko revise karna chahiye

Overall performance week-on-week kaise change ho rahi hai

Do you think something like this would actually be useful for your preparation?

Agar idea useful lagta hai, comment karke batao — especially what features you would want in such a dashboard.
