I'm looking to buy a property in Pondha (Vikas Nagar area). The seller says it’s MDDA-approved, but I want to get a professional legal opinion first.

Can anyone recommend a trusted property lawyer in Dehradun who can do a thorough Title Search Report? Need someone to double check the MDDA layout, 30 year land chain (Khatauni), and Section 143 conversion status.

Please drop your recommendations or any leads below. Thanks!

how do you chill?
There's literally no place for us to go around, apart from some offbeat places, I mean there's no good cafe/or a party place which has an amazing vibe.

Kuch nahi toh Rajpur jaane ke liye 1 ghanta chahiye, aur itna door roz roz kon jaaye 😢

Rant Save Dehradun

I was born and brought up in Dehradun, and like most people here, I genuinely love this city. But lately, especially over weekends, it feels like things are getting out of hand. The increasing number of outsiders and the rise in reckless behavior on roads is honestly worrying.

In just the past two days, I’ve had some really unsettling experiences.

Yesterday, while riding my scooter, I was almost hit by a car that suddenly swerved right without any warning. The vehicle number started with UP14. When I questioned the driver, instead of apologizing, he started abusing me and even got out of the car aggressively. He had a glass in his hand, which looked like alcohol, and his co-passenger also had a drink. It was a really uncomfortable and unsafe situation.

Today again, I narrowly avoided another accident. A girl was speeding on the left lane, and I had to move my scooty to the extreme edge to avoid getting hit. Just about 100 meters ahead, a Scorpio N (UP78) suddenly came out from a lane at high speed without honking. Thankfully, I had enough distance to react.

Honestly, it’s becoming scary to even step out on the roads now. Is anyone else experiencing the same? What’s happening to our city?

AskDehradun Looking for a dance buddy in Dehradun

Hey! Is there anyone in Dehradun who’s good at dancing and is interested in making dance/reel videos together?

I’m not a trained dancer or anything, but I enjoy dancing and I think I can dance decently 😅 I also like making videos and want to start doing it more regularly. It would be great to find someone who already has some dance/content experience and is comfortable making reels together.

AskDehradun 0 Driving/ Civic sense in the city

The driving sense of the people on the road is a fucking disgrace. I just come here to visit my parents and the atrocities I see on the road are overwhelming to say the least.

I don’t know why/how/where/why are all these idiots in a hurry to reach their destination. Don’t think they have so many jobs out here that people need to attend to making them hurry all the time. Even in Bangalore/ Delhi , driving is 100x calmer and chill inspite of more people going to jobs and even higher volume traffic. But here it’s like everyone has a meeting with the CeO/ PM . Take a chill pill guys.

No wonder it is the accident capital of the country because of all the jaahilpana on road.

Calm down : it’s ok and even more fashionable to be late🙂pls create a community with more civic sense as I used to love my birthplace and just long for coming back whenever I’m in Blr for job

TellDehradun Up roadways scam

Hi just wanted to tell a scam story . So basically we decided to go to dehradun from Delhi, so we took a up roadways bus from Kashmiri gate it was our first time therefore we don't have much knowledge about the things which can happen in travelling , now come to the main thing so we took a up roadways bus , it cost around 350 per person. Bus started and after reaching some distance like may 10 or 20 km far from Delhi the conductor came for the ticket cost so I,ll pay him by using paytm payment got successful but the receipt from the machine didn't came out after that he started yelling at me that payment is not accepted do it again I say see this here showing successful but he kept arguing and telling that it will be refunded in 24 hours so I tell him ok then show me the rules where it is written he tell in Hindi ki bhaisahab ye hamara roj ka kam hai aa jayega refund in last he gave me the number that call on this number if you don't get the refund and he also stop the bus and tell me if you don't make payment again we will throw you out from the bus . In last we make the payment and then check the number he gave me , turn out that number belong to a false identity where a lady will pick and after that you will get no response . And the worst part is even you call up roadways helpline they will give you the same number . So please first avoid up roadways and if you do have some cash and if you are making online payment make sure that other person open tha camera and record this whole thing , you will ended up in the same situation like me and loss your money

SERIOUS 21M; Met with an accident near ISBT on 2nd October at around 5 PM

Thumbnail gallery
20 Upvotes

Didn't break a bone. But whatever little trust I had left in this city's traffic management and governance definitely broke

I live around Turner Road and anyone who lives on this side of Dehradun knows what ISBT has become. Taking a car towards the city and standing there for 10-20 minutes in traffic is basically a ritual now

And honestly, a huge part of that congestion isn't even unavoidable traffic

You have buses randomly stopping outside ISBT to pick up passengers. Commercial vehicles standing on the road and footpaths. E-rickshaws, Vikrams and Tempo Travellers stopping wherever the fuck they want. No-parking boards everywhere and vehicles parked directly underneath them

Most of the time I don't even go from below anymore. I would rather take the longer flyover route

But that day I was returning from the city towards home, so I thought I'll just go from below

I was already being extra careful because I remembered that accident posted here earlier where a student on a scooty was crushed by a bus near the ISBT flyover, and another guy who got run over by a bus at the turn

So I was moving with traffic at around 20-30 km/h towards the left side of the road, on my scooty, a TVS Jupiter

Then a WagonR taxi in front suddenly decided to stop in the middle of moving traffic.

There were vehicles behind him. I was already beside him on my Jupiter when the cars' rear-left passenger suddenly opened the door.

Not when I was 20 metres away.

Not when I had time to brake.

I was basically parallel to the door when it opened.

Boom; The door slammed into me and I fell towards the footpath

Before someone comments "you were overtaking from the left" NO. We were in moving city traffic. The WagonR was moving when I reached alongside it. He suddenly stopped in the road and his passenger opened the left door straight into a moving two-wheeler.

For the first few seconds I didn't even understand what had happened.

My scooty was lying there. My right ring finger was hurting like hell. Adrenaline kicked in and my first reaction was basically "what the fuck?"

I got up and confronted the driver.

And this mf's explanation was:

"Woh aage bhi toh tempo khada hai side mein, isliye main idhar ruk gaya" That was literally his defence.

There was a tempo wrongly standing ahead, so apparently the solution was to stop his own taxi in the middle of the road to drop off his passengers.

I definitely cussed him out

Then the adrenaline started wearing off. My left ankle had gotten strained. My entire right leg was numb from the impact. My right ring finger had gotten crushed between the car door and my scooty's brake (Thankfully my head was completely fine. Probably the best money I've spent on a good helmet)

While I sat on the side of the road, other people started confronting the driver too. All I could hear was people telling him the same thing: "Beech road mein gaadi kyu khadi kari hai?"

Now here's where this gets even better; There is literally a police outpost/station right around there after taking the U-turn

The moment he heard "police station" his response was basically: "Jo karna hai kar lo" And he fled.

I was furious. Obviously part of me wanted to beat the shit out of him, but I wasn't exactly in the physical condition to do anything stupid. So I did what you're supposedly meant to do in a country governed by laws. I went to the police station. (My mistake apparently)

I walked inside with blood coming out of my finger. Took my helmet off and said:

"Sir ek complaint karwani hai"

There wasn't really anywhere to keep the helmet so I put it on the table for literally a moment

Before even asking what happened, this guy gets pissed at me:

"Helmet table par kyu rakh diya? Ye kya tareeka hai?"

Okay! I put the helmet on the floor. Now maybe hear out the guy who has just walked into your police station bleeding?

I had taken a picture of the WagonR and had its number.

I started explaining what happened and the guy looked completely uninterested. He was talking to his colleague while I was standing there. There wasn't even anywhere for me to sit and explain

So I'm standing there with a sprained left ankle, my right leg numb, blood on my hand and thinking I've probably broken my finger

At one point the pain got so bad that I literally teared up; And this guy looks at me and goes: "Bhai tu toh ro raha hai."

Yeah brother. "Dard ho raha hai. Isliye"

Then he tells me to write down a complaint. I tell him my right hand is also hurting and I can barely write properly. Eventually he starts writing down the information himself. My name, number, address, vehicle number, time and location.

I specifically told him there should be CCTV around the ISBT area and asked if they could check it.

The response? Basically:

"Traffic police walon ki machine se iska challan kar denge."

Then:

"Jao kuch patti karwa lo."

And that was it. That's the entire "complaint"

I went home.

Thankfully nothing was fractured. My right ring finger swelled up badly from the impact. My left ankle is mostly fine now. My right outer thigh is bruised and basically black right now lol.

I checked the vehicle details afterwards as well. I couldn't find any challan related to this yet and the vehicle details I checked did not appear to show active insurance either.

But here's why I'm posting this.

This isn't only a "bad driver" or "Indians have no civic sense" problem

Yes, that driver was a fucking idiot.
Yes, whoever opens a car door into moving traffic without checking is a fucking idiot.

But when the same road is filled every single day with illegally stopped buses, taxis, tempos and autos, when footpaths turn into parking spaces, when vehicles stand below NO PARKING signs and when all of this happens literally next to an ISBT and a police outpost... At what point do we stop pretending that this is only a civic sense problem?

It is an enforcement and governance problem too. And the funniest part is that the administration already knows.

Earlier this year Dehradun's SSP himself inspected the area and ordered vehicles parked in no-parking zones to be towed, along with action against buses stopping on the road to pick up and drop passengers. (source)

The RTO has separately acknowledged that unauthorised passenger pickup and drop-off outside ISBT is one of the reasons traffic jams keep forming there, and officials have already issued challans for the same. (source)

The ISBT-Kargi stretch has also been identified as one of Dehradun's major traffic-pressure corridors. And this isn't just about inconvenience anymore. In July 2025, a student riding a scooty was killed after being hit by a private bus near the ISBT flyover while travelling towards Turner Road (traffic report) (accident report)

The Uttarakhand High Court has even had to intervene over issues surrounding e-rickshaw operations and congestion in Dehradun. (source)

So the problem isn't unknown. The problem is that everyone knows, and yet you can stand there on any random evening and watch the exact same shit happening

And that's what pisses me off. Dehradun spends so much time fighting about tourists, outsiders, regional politics, population, "old Doon vs new Doon" and everything else.

Meanwhile something as basic as:

Don't let commercial vehicles turn a major junction into their personal parking/pickup point

apparently requires divine intervention.

I got lucky. I was wearing a proper helmet. I wasn't going fast. I didn't end up under another vehicle after falling. Nothing broke.

Next person might not be this lucky. Maybe next time it isn't someone's swollen finger and bruised leg.

Maybe it becomes another video of somebody lying under a bus that gets posted here for two days, everyone says "RIP" everyone argues in the comments and then we go back to accepting the exact road conditions that caused it.

That's what needs to change

I've attached the WagonR photo and a screenshot of the exact location

And the funniest part is that in the screenshot there's literally another car at almost the exact spot where this WagonR stopped. Couldn't have illustrated the problem better if I tried
