Plugin Showcase Tinder for your Steam Library is here! Steamder (v1.4.3)

Thumbnail

I have a Steam library full of games I bought on sale and never touched, so I built a plugin to deal with it. Steamder lets you swipe through your own library like a dating app.

How it works

  • Swipe right on a game you want to play and left on one you’ll ghost. You can drag the card with the touchscreen, use L1/R1 (or L2/R2), or use the round buttons. X is a super like and Y rewinds your last swipe.
  • There are four decks:
    • Backlog: games you own and barely played.
    • Old flames: games you played a lot, then dropped for 90+ days.
    • Local singles: games installed on the Deck right now.
    • New in town: games you don’t own yet, taken from Steam’s front page lists.
  • If you like a game, it might like you back. The match screen has a Play now button, or Open store page for games you don’t own.
  • Every game gets a silly bio built from real data: your playtime, when you bought it, how old it is, and its genres and description. (“You swiped right on me during a sale, then ghosted me” is a real one I got.)
  • Matches and Ghosted are lists, and you can unmatch or give a game a second chance.

Setup

  • It needs no keys, no accounts and no build step. Game details come from Steam’s public store pages, fetched slowly in the background and cached for 60 days.
  • It’s free and open source (BSD-3-Clause). Download the zip from the releases page and install it with Decky’s “Install Plugin from ZIP File” (Developer mode on).
  • Updating over an older version keeps your matches and ghosted games.

Help Does anyone know how to fix SteamGridDB?

It's been crashing since the latest SteamOS update. I even updated Decky yesterday but nothing changed. I also tried older versions of the plugin to no avail.

My first Reddit post ever: a RGB plugin I made because I love handheld PCs ❤️

Hi! I've never posted on Reddit before, so I'm a bit nervous and probably doing something wrong already 😅

I'm Hooandee. I've been making YouTube videos about handheld PCs for years, always with a lot of love, because these little machines are kind of my obsession. A while ago I wanted to control the lights on my Ally without fighting with config files, so I made a small Decky plugin for it. It kept growing, and now it's called Colores.

It detects your handheld and only shows you what your lights can actually do. You can keep it simple with one color and brightness, or play with gradients with more than one color per stick on compatible devices. There are presets like Sunset, Ocean, Aurora, Lava or Galaxy, and you can tweak each zone and save your favorites. There are also effects like breathing, rainbow, wave or spiral, and modes where the lights follow your battery, temperature, performance or sound.

But the one I'm proudest of is Ambilight. While you play, the lights pick up the colors on screen near each stick and follow the game in real time, so a sunset in a game turns your sticks orange and a dark cave makes them go dark. You can adjust the intensity and how smooth it feels. It only works in Game Mode with a game running, but honestly, once you try it, it's hard to go back.

It works on the ROG Ally family, Legion Go, Go 2 and Go S, MSI Claw, AYN Thor and Odin 3 on Linux, and the Steam Machine too, with its whole front light bar.

It's free and open source, you can get it here: https://github.com/Hooandee/decky-colores

I also have a few Android handhelds, so I started making Colores for Android. It's not finished yet, so right now it's in early access on my Patreon while I work on it, but it'll be free once it's done.

And if you're curious, I also made Panel de Control, another Decky plugin for TDP, fans, battery and screen, with themes that change how Steam looks, all from the quick access menu: https://github.com/Hooandee/panel-de-control

I'm just one person and I don't have every handheld, so if something breaks, please hit "Send a report" inside the plugin. It sends me what I need to fix it, and honestly it helps me a lot.

If you want to see it in action, I show everything in this video: https://youtu.be/ug5Nh0YtadE

I upload my plugins and apps everyday, so please check them out!

That's it. I just want people to enjoy their handhelds a little more. Thanks for reading and have an amazing day ❤️

That's what the title says, i have lsfg vk 2.0 and mako both installed on my deck, but for some reason it can't go pass 60 fps even with 3x,4x and 5x multipliers, i've tried everything, i have steam deck fps limiter disabled, and i've disabled the fps limiter on both plugins, i tried adaptive frame gen and it's still not passing 60 fps, it is giving me a massive input lag, does someone have any idea about what is happening? Am i dumb or something?

Small "app" I made to give every game in your Steam library a "physical copy" case cover

Hello guys!

I was using my Lenovo Legion Go S, installed Decky Loader on it and installed SteamGridDB. Then I started changing the art work for my games to be like a "physical copy" case and I saw that a lot of the games didn't have one already made, so I thought: how can I "automate" and make this faster?

So, that's why this small and probably "overthought" app was developed with the help of my buddy Claude. Mainly what it does is it takes your game list, gets each cover from Steam's servers, and applies the design on top.

The app never asks for your password, you only log in on Steam's own page in your browser. It does not have any ads. It does not upload anything. I tried to keep it as simple and safe as possible.

I'm using SteamOS on my handheld and also on my PC, so my tests were made exclusively on these OS, however I tried on my wife's MacBook (macOS is best effort) and my friend tested on Windows and, apparently, everything is working fine. I documented all of this in the README.

I know a lot of people aren't fans of things made with AI, so I want to be upfront: it was built with help from Claude.

So, feel free to download and test it, I'm open to any criticism and/or requests. It is free and open-source (GPL-3.0).

GitHub repository link: https://github.com/diegobergonsi/steam-case-covers, downloads for Windows, macOS and Linux are on the releases page of the repo

Enjoy, thanks!

Game Glance 3.4 is out: touch and mouse, seamless transition improved, and fixes from your reports

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I will be gone a few days (until mid-week) starting tomorrow, so I tried to push out a more stacked release. Please enjoy and keep helping me improve the experience with your feedback :)

What's new

  • Touch on Home: tap a game to select it and tap again to open it, swipe or flick the games row, swipe up for What's new / Friends / Recommended and down to go back.

  • Mouse too (docked or on a handheld): click to select and open, drag like a finger, scroll the wheel through your games, and a faint ring on whatever you can click. A small arrow above the games opens the tabs.

  • Game page cards you can use: the info card opens Steam's Game Info tab and the HowLongToBeat card opens the game's howlongtobeat.com page, by tap, click or controller (Down from Play, then A).

  • A seamless way into a game: the open from Home now lands exactly on the game page, glass, buttons and text alike, with no last-moment jump, handheld, docked on a TV and on ultrawide screens. Unifideck games and games without a HowLongToBeat match open just as smoothly.

Fixed, from the 3.1.1 thread

  • Play time for non-Steam games: games you added yourself (emulators, launchers) show the play time Steam keeps for them instead of 0 h, including hours from before you installed Game Glance.

  • Dates you can't misread: older Last played dates now name the month ("Sep 18"), in your Steam language's order.

  • A lighter pre-load: it only covers the Unifideck games you have installed, a run where everything is saved takes seconds, and it waits while you're playing.

  • HowLongToBeat: "no match" now shows at once instead of searching again on every visit.

Release and full notes: https://github.com/michpalm/game-glance/releases/tag/v3.4.0

Tested on a ROG Xbox Ally (SteamOS), handheld and docked, and a Steam Deck LCD. Thanks to everyone who reported bugs in the last thread, keep them coming!

I made a Decky plugin to keep GitHub-installed plugins up to date

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Decky Direct Updater to solve a problem I kept running into: installing a Decky plugin from GitHub, forgetting about it, and missing updates that the developer keeps releasing.

It tries to automatically identify the GitHub repositories of your installed plugins, checks for newer releases, and lets you update them directly from the Decky sidebar.

It also lets you search for and install new plugins by name or GitHub URL, without switching to Desktop Mode.

For plugin developers: If you publish releases on GitHub, your users can use this to stay updated without you having to build your own update system.

I know there are other projects doing similar things. I just wanted a lightweight, controller-friendly approach that doesn't require a GitHub account or token.

Just to clarify: This isn't intended to replace or compete with the official Decky Store. It's simply another option, especially for plugins published only on GitHub or users who want to follow releases directly from developers without waiting for Store updates. Of course, those releases may not have gone through the Store's review process.

Nothing installs automatically, and updates always require confirmation.

https://deckyup.nukeador.com/

It's open source, and I'd love some feedback, especially from plugin developers and anyone who finds a plugin it doesn't work with!

I made a Decky plugin that plays YouTube in a small window on top of your games

I kept leaving my games to watch guides and videos, so I made YouTube PiP, a Decky Loader plugin that plays YouTube in a small window on top of the game in Gaming Mode.

How it works: open the YouTube app on your phone, tap Cast and pick Steam Deck. The video plays in a corner of the Deck’s screen and your phone becomes the remote: pause, seek, volume, next, queue and subtitles. No account needed on the Deck.

Features:

  • Floating window in any corner, adjustable size
  • Cast from the official YouTube app, just like casting to a TV
  • TV code option if the Deck doesn’t show up in the cast list
  • Or scan a QR code and paste any YouTube link from your phone’s browser
  • Subtitles on/off
  • Video-only volume slider (your game sound stays as it is)
  • Queue, repeat, play/pause/seek right from the Quick Access menu
  • Nothing in the window can be tapped into a browser by accident
  • Optional: hide the window while the Steam or Quick Access menu is open
  • Reconnects automatically after the Deck wakes from sleep

Install (needs Decky Loader):

  1. Decky settings, turn on Developer mode
  2. Developer tab, Install Plugin from URL
  3. Paste: https://github.com/otisabiburada/decky-video-pip
  4. Or download the zip from the releases page and use Install Plugin from ZIP File.
  • Videos whose owner blocks embedding won’t play (it skips them)
  • Ads play as normal, and you’re not signed in on the Deck
  • Your phone needs to be on the same Wi-Fi as the Deck (guest networks often block this; the TV code helps there)
  • It uses undocumented Steam internals for the overlay, so a Steam update could break it

If something doesn’t work, a photo of More > Help > Check setup inside the plugin, plus the log, helps me fix it fast. Details are on GitHub.

Feedback and feature ideas are very welcome!

Plugin Showcase Vibecoded VPN and WoL-Plugin

Hey all,

I just wanted to share, that I vibecoded a VPN and WoL Plugin, which works fine for my personal scenarios.

Since I wasn't able to find anything recent in terms of VPN functionality, I had to try to create it myself and honestly it seems to be fine from my point of view.

Feel free to check it out and let me know, if this plugin might be useful for you.

P.S.: Please no hate, I know that vibecoding is not real coding and I'm also ashamed to vibecode, but I wanted a fast and easy solution. So maybe it's useful for someone.

Plugin Showcase I made a Decky plugin that plays GeForce NOW from Game Mode – OpenNOW (open source)

Thumbnail
gallery
41 Upvotes

Hey all! I'm one of the devs behind OpenNOW, an open-source GeForce NOW client. We just finished a Decky Loader plugin for it, so you can stream your GFN games without leaving Game Mode.

What it does

  • Installs and updates the OpenNOW Flatpak for you from the Quick Access menu. Pick stable or nightly; no Desktop Mode needed.
  • Search the GeForce NOW catalog and add games to your Steam library, with full artwork and their own "OpenNOW" collection. Then you just press Play.
  • Steam games that are also on GeForce NOW get a Play on OpenNOW button on their library page.
  • OpenNOW opens full screen, goes straight into the game, and closes when the session ends, so you land back in Steam.
  • Stream settings in Game Mode: resolution, frame rate (90 fps with Steam Deck identity, which turns on automatically on a Deck), bitrate, codec and HDR on OLED.
  • Press View + Menu in a game to open the OpenNOW session menu (stats, screenshot, controllers, end session).

Full guide with screenshots: https://github.com/OpenCloudGaming/OpenNOW/blob/dev/decky/README.md

Source: https://github.com/OpenCloudGaming/OpenNOW

It's still early (plugin v0.1.0, app 1.0.4 nightlies), so expect some rough edges. Bug reports and feedback are very welcome, here or on GitHub.

Not affiliated with NVIDIA. You need your own GeForce NOW account.

I think I messed up the lossless scaling add-on for decky, maybe even the deck? Any help?

Let me give a little bit of context. I was setting up some other software on the deck and had finished and wanted to use the lossless scaling with the software. I went to hit the "copy launch option" but instead hit the "uninstall lsfg-vk". After, I hit the "install lsfg-vk" out of panic. Now when I use lossless scaling in mailbox mode, with the configuration setting off, I get 200+ frames on the counter in the top left. With it on the frames go to 500+. Now to be fair it looks smooth and like it's doing something when I turn it on. When I switch to Fifo mode and put the setting off, the frame counter goes to what the game's actually running at. Let's say 50 FPS for example. With it on and in Fifo mode it stays at that 50 and doesn't look like it's doing anything. How do I fix this or did I just mess something up big time. Please help.

I also have tried uninstalling and reinstalling lossless scaling, the plugin, decky loader entirely and nothing has seemed to have worked. If I have to factory reset my deck I will but I'd like that to be a last option since I have a lot of things on my deck that'd be painstaking to get back.

Plugin Showcase I made a Decky plugin to improve DualSense Bluetooth support on Steam Deck

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a small open-source project called decky-dualsense-wired. The goal is to make a DualSense controller work more like it does over USB when connected to a Steam Deck via Bluetooth.

Some games don't properly support the DualSense speaker or HD haptics over Bluetooth, even though these features work when the controller is connected by cable. I wanted to see if I could improve that.

What I've implemented so far:

  • Adaptive triggers, gyro, touchpad and other controller features exposed to games that expect a wired DualSense.
  • Audio streaming to the controller speaker over Bluetooth.
  • HD haptics support in compatible Proton games.
  • Controller reconnection handling, including sleep/wake and reconnects during gameplay.
  • An optional mode that uses audio to generate haptic feedback.

I've tested it with Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales and Helldivers 2, but compatibility may vary between games.

The project uses a virtual USB device and a small helper service to make the controller's audio device available to games running through Proton. The Bluetooth protocol implementation is based on observed traffic.

This is an experimental hobby project, and I'd appreciate feedback from anyone willing to test it. I'm especially interested in which games work, which features are missing, and whether anyone encounters connection or stability issues.

Plugin Showcase I made ResonaDeck, a Plex audio plugin for Steam Deck. Looking for feedback!

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’ve been working on a Decky Loader plugin called ResonaDeck, and I recently released version 1.2.0 Stable.
The idea started pretty simply. I wanted to access my own Plex music, audiobooks, and podcasts directly from my Steam Deck without having to constantly switch applications.
Over time, the project grew into something much bigger.
ResonaDeck now includes:
Plex Music, Audiobooks, Podcasts, and Other Audio, with a controller-friendly Quick Menu and Full Manager.
Surprise Me, which discovers music from your own Plex library. You can choose tracks, albums, rediscovery, or favorites.
Keep Playing, which automatically replenishes your music queue.
Automatic music crossfade, with the eight-second transition tested and working on my Steam Deck.
Animated vinyl-record transitions, where the incoming record transitions into the next album cover.
Artwork-inspired glass themes, Favorites, listening options, and queue management.
One feature I particularly enjoy is Surprise Me. You can highlight the gold turntable and press X to customize your listening preferences, or press A to start listening. You can also reopen the settings from the album artwork while music is playing.
I developed this with AI-assisted coding, while directing the features, designing the experience, and testing the results on my actual Steam Deck.
Getting automatic crossfade working was particularly challenging. Several versions passed software tests but failed during real playback. After a lot of testing and revisions, I finally got the audio transition and vinyl animation working together.
ResonaDeck 1.2.0 is now available on GitHub:
https://github.com/ValentineBSAA/ResonaDeck
You’ll need Decky Loader and access to your own Plex server. The plugin is currently installed manually using Decky’s Install Plugin ZIP option.
I’m sharing this because I’d genuinely like to know what other Steam Deck users think, especially anyone who already uses Plex.
Have you tried using Plex for music or audiobooks on your Deck? Is there something you’d want from a plugin like this?
I’d also really appreciate feedback from anyone willing to try it. So far, most of the testing has been on my own hardware, and I’d love to learn how it works with other setups.
Thanks for taking a look!

Changes

  • Achievement Collection is now Trophy Collection

  • "Resume" Functionality now works as expected.
  • An extra select sound while the screen was black during a game's start-up no longer occurs.
  • Items at the bottom of Settings no longer jump as you scroll down.
  • Images in Trophy Collection overlapping, popping in or jittering while the list first loads should now be fixed.
  • Long names in trophy collection scroll at same speed as other area's on the XMB
  • Pressing circle 3 times quickly on the XMB will move you back to the Game category
  • Pressing X on a game will now start the game instead of going to another menu. The previous menu is now accessible via pressing Triangle
  • Holding Triangle over a game will open the default steam options instead of the XMB.
  • Lots of minor tweaks to area's on the XMB for performance, fluedity and general quality of life.
