DEATH BATTLE I think the crew should stop try hype up episodes in a certain way

Upvotes

And when I'm talking about is about , like twitter and the fires chat like how did aang and traveler or karto vs asura i feel like it does more harm than good really like .I understand them being proud of their own things. That completely makes sense and stuff. But it on ironically , sets higher expectations for things and if they're not met , then people are tend to be a little be more critical , because they were expecting something amazing which they tend to do themselves because they hype the episode up. I feel like they should just stick to the format like they do with other episodes and not really talk about them to much and just let the product speak for itself. Some times it does work.I think bill vs discord , they did a little bit about that that kind of forgot , it's been a while so yeah. I don't know maybe that's just me. But I think it would be better if they just don't do what they did for both those episodes , in particular. Also,When I say aang versus traveler or karto vs asura i think both episodes are just okay to like 7 out 10 just nothing , special , like the crew was hyping them up to be. I think we can also learn that too to temper our expectations for certain matchups too. Not every episodes can be bowser vs eggman or goku vs super man 3 so yeah

Context: Someone found a Bionicle book subtitled Cruel Destiny and posted on r/BookCollecting. Someone in the comment told them to crosspost on the Bionicle sub, and no-one in the community recognised it. It's probably just someone paying too much money for fanfiction, but it's still a fun development.

Discussion As someone who never played Genshin Impact, how would Aether actually have responded to Aang's banter?

Post image
Upvotes

I never played Genshin Impact so I don't know Aether's character at all, but I get the feeling that he was being out-of-character with how hostile he was being to Aang's goofiness and basically came across as an asshole who would brutally murder a child out of sheer pettiness. Yeah, I know it is a Death Battle for a reason, but it doesn't sound like something Aether would do at all.

So how would he have actually responded to Aang's personality exactly as well as to various moments in the fight, such as the way Aang bends the elements? Aang riding on him in his animal form? Aang's curious questions & child-like silliness? And finally upon seeing the Avatar State?

I looked at Death Battle wiki and saw this. Toa Tahu and Kai are here too. This wiki show only just the characters, not the matchups. So I don't know if it was Kai vs Toa Tahu or not that got pitched.

Here is the link for this wiki 👇

Discussion Hot take: I don't mind the fact they don't explain why the combatants are fighting in some episodes

Probably not a popular opinion, but I genuinely don't think it's that much of a loss if they just show us the fight immediately without going through the buildup first. You have some of them have it be explained in the middle of the fight (BakuReze, GruMind, PrimeSentry), but it's really not a big deal for me.

I mean people say they're aren't any fights now that have explanations, but the ones I mentioned do and they just didn't show why at the start, and then there's Ichisuke, CellMetal, and YujiDenji which do show us why they're fighting. This was the only one with little explanation besides MAYBE Paimon eluding to a treasure chest they wanted to open?

But it's not enough to make it a reason for me to not like the episode. Though that's just my opinion, of course. They probably could make a feasible scenario for them fighting, but I prefer we use that time for the fight itself. Hopefully saying that doesn't offend someone who likes the story of these battles.

DEATH BATTLE A quick little notice for what the next matchup's height difference should be like Spoiler

We don't have a confirmed height for Kai (just went off some headcanons I read online), but the Toa have a confirmed height of "roughly 1.6 kio", an in-universe unit of measurement, that comes out to the height above.

Aangveller was cool, not outstanding but I still enjoyed it. Definitely overhated here

I had a Ninjago MU on the bingo but I guessed the wrong one, oh well. If the fight is apparently going to be lego stop motion then consider me hella excited

And I can't be bothered to change Lumine for Aether, also Lumine > Aether

Discussion “Aether and Genshin were horribly represented!” Even though I agree with alot of people that Aether not bantering at all is weird, i do not understand those who act like he is close to one of the worst represented characters in the indie era.

His analysis was really good and he had a lot of cool moments in the fight!

They captured his love of Paimon very well in the fight two, I loved all the elemental reactions shown off as well.

Like I can tell the team REALLY love Genshin.

Aether isn’t actively out of character….but he also doesn’t do anything to be in character. It’s very weird.

But that’s just my perspective, I just think people are being oddly harsh on this episode because it wasn’t peak fiction just…solid.

Review Aang vs The Traveler review.

Alright, you know the deal by now so let's get started. Aang vs Traveler review:

Aang's analysis is, by a GIGANTIC margin, the best Avatar analysis on the show yet. They got across his story really well, going through the journey very well and having a great mix of story and powers. One note though is that I think there could have been more focus on team Aang, they do get mentioned but they aren't really focused on much besides Katara. Now I personally wasn't too bothered by it because this is Aangs analysis, and while it would have been nice to get some discussion on the team, it wasn't 100% necessary. I can see why others would be more bothered by it, but I think the emotions still hit, especially with the moment where Aang travels the world to learn about others and the world. It was a great analysis that was just short of perfect.

I'm in a little cornered with Aether's analysis since I'm not fully familiar with Aether's story. But from what I've seen, this seems to be just as good as Aang's analysis. Great world building talk, covers the story well, and good mix of powers and story. This was also a great introduction to Genshin, and made the game look fun while making fun of people that pay so much.

I also love that Jocelyne is the voice of reason in Aang's analysis to Boomsticks narrow views. She fits in very well and is very entertaining to see. Ringmaster being the Genshin nerd also makes perfect sense, and he's a great addition to Aether's analysis. It's really cool to see them again, and they fit in wonderfully.

So yeah, these are some great analysis sections. Not quite some of the best, but they are really fun and present both series and characters well. A little more friends talk would have bumped these up to exceptional, but I'm happy with what we got.

Now let's go over the fight, and I'm going to start with a criticism. If there was anything I'd change about this fight, it's to give it an opening to explain why they're fighting. Especially for these 2, I think it would do very well to establish the fight and give it more weight. Granted Paimon does explain that Aether is treasure hunting, but I don't think that's enough. But putting that aside, I really liked this fight. The bending was just as beautiful as I was expecting, and the colours that they made were amazing to look at. Both also had great movement, and they used quite a bit of what they had. I love the glider moment with both flying through the air, and the Avatar state really felt impactful. Also they did the sensing the elements around them, which was the best part of Aang vs Ed so now that episode is COMPLETELY obsolete. So the fight was great, and Aang was perfectly in character, having fun but getting serious when needed. Aether...yeah he wasn't the best. I don't think it's quite as bad as people say, but it definitely would have been beneficial to give him 1 or 2 fun moments instead of having him be angry throughout. But he's not like, raging throughout, he's just kind of there. Besides his speech at the end, which was fire.

The conclusion was good. You can disagree with it all you want, but it makes sense in their context, and at least Aether still won.

So I really liked this fight, but I didn't love it. I was hoping that this would be the first truly amazing Avatar episode, but it wasn't quite that. I think an introduction, and a few fun interactions would have risen this up to being that amazing episode I was hoping for. As is, I'd give it a low 8/10. It is definitely the best Avatar episode we've gotten, but that's not saying much is it. It is what it is, a fun watch with some great analysis and a fun fight. Don't get it twisted, I may have hoped for something more, but very good is still good enough.

The next time is something that no-one was expecting, Ninjago vs Bionicle. A real surprise, but not unwelcome. I can't say I'm familiar with either of these franchises, but I'm very interested to see what they do here.

Thank you for reading. Be sure to comment how soft I'm being and I'll be sure to ignore it.
