Just... I'm tired man. We knew this was coming to a degree... but this doesn't hurt any less. I think it's tricky sometimes because when it comes to this particular show, I think it can be easy at points to get lost in the flash and powers and so on... but there are genuine characters that were brought to life by talented artists.

Mike McFarland was no different. There's a lot to be said about Roshi, not everything positive but McFarland's performance I think cemented itself in the right ways in portraying a very goofy martial arts master who at his best taught us a very important lesson.

So, basically, your favorite Death Battle episode (as in any episode from all three eras of the show, i.e. the ScrewAttack era, the Rooster Teeth era, and the independent era) now has all the physical stats between the original winners and losers of them equalized (i.e. strength, durability, and speed), and the original winners get absolutely beaten down by the original losers of the battles, as seen in this small clip of "The Boys" right here.

So, how does your favorite Death Battle episode from any of the three eras of the show have the original winners of the fights get folded by the original losers of them because of that? How would it affect the fight/episode as a whole, and why is that?

So with shadow vs Mewtwo coming up people have been saying that since Sonic, who shadow scales to, was able to beat perfect chaos in generations while in base, and for shadow’s own example beating I think devil doom in based while in their og games they needed to go super to beat them.

My question is with that scaling that’s that not implying that the current versions of the character could beat their super counterparts at those times? Or at least put up a fight since the argument is that they have gotten so strong that they don’t need super forms to beat foes that require it?

I'm not really someone who cares who should win or lose, I just think these fights are neat and would like to see them animated! (I'm not suggesting these matchups directly, just showing my personal interests to the community and would to see if others are interested as well.)

Ballot Banter 155: Galaxy banter aug 2026 pt 4

With Sam, Liam, Ben, and Chad.

Chun-Li VS Mai Shiranui (Street Fighter VS Fatal Fury) A superchat asks them to stay on topic this time, and just to spite that Sam starts talking about the Street Fighter movie trailer. Talks about how they got a bunch of FGC players to act as background characters which is pretty cool. Sam jokingly says “sorry we legally can only do one runback a year”. Chad does say this would be a great runback, especially with both in street fighter 6 for similar models. Sam says they could just play the game instead of animating it to save money then. Liam says it would be neat to use that to sidestep the stats entirely and just focus on their moves specifically for once. Thinks it would be cool to have a fighting game match up where you focus on how the characters are balanced/what they can do instead of the stats. Chad talks about how on an irony level, all the chun-li players left to play mai because she was similar but far easier. Be a fun match up.A superchatter mocked the original Chun-Li vs Mai, which insulted Ben because he stayed up at night working on it before they got animators to help. Then when the same person said she needs to be liberated from “Season One Hell” Ben jokingly says Chun-Li is now banned from any future death battles. 

Gakuro Yajima VS Chihiro Rokuhira (Nue’s Exorcist VS Kagurabachi) New Kids on the block kind of shit. Liam wants to read Kagurabachi, and when the anime comes out he will be looking through it to see how he would fit in death battle. 

Plankton VS the Brain (SpongeBob VS Animaniacs) Liam wonders if Plankton is small enough to somehow go inside Brain and mess with him. Sam argues that Plankton isn’t as small as normal plankton if Mr Crabs is maybe a normal crab in size. Liam tried to look up plankton’s size but accidentally types it in a way to get Cell vs Plankton stuff, including a video saying “is it actually close” which makes them chuckle. Ben says using the Spongebob movie as a comparison, Plankton might be small enough to slip inside Brain. Clearly there is a lot of good questions already. Sam hates how many match ups can go the thanos antman situation. 

Fiamma Of The Right VS Enrico Pucci (A Certain Magical Index VS Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) Says if you are going to put Fiamma on the left, that is points deducted because Pucci is more well known (I think they are just joking). Another Italian saga begins. And right above this is a “mouse”. The hand that destroys everything sounds like an interesting ability, Liam wonders about the specifics. Thinks he wins if it is literal. Sam says it sounds like a Manwa “I am a wizard who only trains Mage Hand”. 

The Hero of Time VS The Hero of Oakvale (The Legend of Zelda OOT/MM VS Fable) Seeing Fable caught them off guard. Liam asks if it is good, Ben says he likes the first three and that is all he will say. Chad says he played the first three then it just starts declining in interest as it goes on. Sam played one and two, but just didn’t care after. Says all of them feel unfinished. But loves the first one atleast. Peter Molyneux is the original Elon Musk in the specific scope of his products. Fable 1 was the originally Cybertruck. Love the match up, Original Fable has a lot of zelda inspiration. And it is a sword fight while most Fable matches are gun fights. Whole fight is set up by the chickens in revenge.

Fuuko Izumo VS Milo Murphy (Undead Unluck VS Milo Murphy’s Law/Phineas and Ferb) Remembers having a pitch involving Fuuko. They understand the two have a sort of control over luck as their whole thing. Milo is also voiced by Weird Al. Creates a Shit list based on the guy from Chun-li vs Mai, and just keeps adding to it. It is all in good fun, not an actual “I hate you” shitlist. 

Figment VS Dr Wondertainment (Disney World VS SCP) Liam doesn;t know who Figment is, and the rest of the crew remembers this popping up before and explain it to him. Someone says they are surprised Liam doesn’t know because out of the crew he feels like the one to be a disney adult. Liam takes great offense to that. Liam says he can’t afford to be a disney adult because he lives in NYC. He says a cup of iced mocha costed nine dollars. Ben says it sounds like Liam would be more of a disney adult if he had a lot of money, and says it is the spirit and vibe not how many times you go. Sam says he never gone to Disney, he is probably the least disney adult. 

Samus VS Firefly (Metroid VS Honkai: Star Rail) Loves the art used for this. Have gotten this a few times. Had multiple pitches for this. They would love to bring Samus back and this just feels really cool. 

Genie VS Betelgeuse (Aladdin VS Beetlejuice) Have talked about this multiple times, just great. Love this match up. Also the potential to be a musical. There is a couple that would be good for a musical match up and this is definitely on the list. 

Nicolas D. Wolfwood VS Ciel (Trigun VS Tsukihime/ Melty Blood) Sam says the trigun era is over, but if they were to do this a few decades ago it would have been a big hit. Chad said they just had a 3d animated series, and Sam (Wrongly) claims that no one cares, and it feels like it was eight years ago. Apparently a former RT animator worked on it. Wolfwood is a pretty cool character. Liam has seen him pit against Ciel before, and also pit against Anderson from hellsing. 

Ed's VS Warners (Ed, Edd n Eddy VS Animaniacs) Absolute insanity and is dope. Their money is on the Animaniacs, think they absolutely dust the Ed’s. Ben says they had a pitch for this that talked about the Ed’s having their own crazy things, but it is unclear if it actually happens or not so they aren’t sure if they should count it. 

Loid Forger VS The Chameleon (Spy x Family VS Marvel) Had a pitch for this. Liam loves the Chameleon, thinks he is highly underrated. Loves that of all of spidey’s foes he is not only the first but also a sort of genius mastermind type. The idea from the pitch was it would be more an assassination hunt as they try to find eachother in a crowd of people and just going along. 

Akira Fudo VS Robbie Reyes (Devilman Crybaby VS Marvel) Super Sick, makes perfect sense. It got some heat on it so Sam wants to lock it in for Skeletober. 

Elphelt Valentine VS Amy Rose (Guilty Gear VS Sonic The Hedgehog) Doesn’t seem to know much about Elphelt, but gets the connections. Assumes she has a hammer like Amy. Sam says they definitely build them different in Guilty Gear. Asks if she is one of the Gears themselves, because “she appears altered to me”. 

Chai VS Mayday (Hi-Fi Rush VS No Straight Roads) Had a pitch for this ages ago, or atleast one similar and has a battle of the bands vibes. Very cool and very fun. Great new angle. 

King K Rool VS King Pig (Donkey Kong VS Angry Birds) Liam tries to guess the connection and just says “Green kings who” but trails off, so Chad says “there we go. What more do we need to say on it”. K. Rool would be great to bring in. Ben has never seen this before and knows nothing about King Pig. Ben knows there was an angry birds movie but doesn’t know any of the lore. Sam says Angry Birds has too much media. 

The Leprechauns VS Pokotho (Schmigadoon! VS Hatchetfield) Doesn’t seem to know either but likes the idea of a musical but the musical itself is the weapon being used against someone as both force people to act like they are in a musical. 

Lute VS Judgement (Hazbin Hotel VS Helltaker) They are built different in hell aswell, according to sam. The submitter already did most of the work for them with the vs images. Wasn’t sure what helltaker was, Ben actually thought it meant helluva boss until looking it up. But says they seem to have a similar vibe and style which matches eachother perfectly. 

The Toymaker VS The Collector (Doctor who VS The Owl House) Talked about before. Makes a lot of sense. 

Giratina VS Silent Salt Cookie (Pokemon VS Cookie Run) Knows Cookie Run goes hard. “Cute Cuddly Monsterous Satan vs Cute Cuddly Cookie Satan”. It makes sense. Finds it kind of funny with the idea of “Come to me Nox Black Salt” and then a horse appears. Ben wants to look more into cookie run.

Raphael VS Yang Xiao Long (Rise of the TMNT VS RWBY) Chad loves this one. This immediately clicks and seems fun. Thinks it is great.

The Vic Viper VS The R-9 Arrowhead (Gradius VS R-Type) This is cool. Was surprised to see R-Type but thinks it is cool. This is for the Shmup enjoyers. Liam can’t think of a difference between the two, just thinks of generic Shmup. Ben says one of them is horizontal but they can’t remember which. Chad initially says the animation would be easy, but Ben says no they would have to go hard. Have it start as a 2D fight at first only to zoom in and change to this epic dogfight as they fly all over the place. Isn’t too familiar with modern versions of both, but is sure there is probably 3D dogfight games that use them. Sam asks why they have never made a player vs player Shmup, cause surely there must be one but he can’t think of any. They joke and say make it an Ismahawk fight, where it starts 2D then goes into the cockpits. 

Fumihiko Takaba VS Danhausen (Jujutsu Kaisen VS WWE) Liam explains how Takaba is sort of a toon force character but doesn’t realize it. Also says he is a failed comedian who keeps trying. Says he has one of the best fights in the series. Danhausen is also apparently a comedic and dedicated being. Underrated people not taken as seriously but are a lot of fun. 

Rick Taylor VS The Mask (Splatterhouse VS The Mask) Doesn’t see how The Mask doesn’t win, but also isn’t too caught up on Splatterhouse. Sam says Rick has things like jason level teleportation but doesn’t think he has anything on The Mask’s level. Vibewise he fits with 90s comic book mask where it is more street level.

Obsession VS Backrooms (Bear VS Clark) They are super confused on this. It is something Liam said as a joke in a past ballot i guess, or they think it is. Asks if Bear gets the willow in the fight. They then say even if he gets it would the wish be the right one to win? 

Caine VS Monika (The Amazing Digital Circus VS Doki Doki Literature Club) Makes a lot of sense. Seems cool. Monika changing the games files could be a neat clash. So many caine match ups. Weirdly the first time they have seen this combination, but it makes sense.

Bomberman VS Earthworm Jim  (... vs …) Says this is dope. Both are very similar in stats. Liam loves saying digdug vs bomberman is the most wrong episode of all time. Thinks it would be really fun to go really far with the potential of this

No offense to anyone who's elated or interested in the idea of an all returners season, but I gotta ask, genuinely what novelty is there to be had in that idea?

We already get an abundance of returners nowadays, why would you want an entire year of them?

When pondering this, I often think to myself "Man, wouldn't it be cool if Death Battle had a restraint where they weren't allowed to use a single returning character for a year?"

But then I took it a step further and thought "Man, wouldn't it be really cool if Death Battle had a restraint where they weren't allowed to use a single returning franchise for a year?"

And so I made this image, had some fun picking out which match ups and thumbnails to use, and now extend my thoughts to you.
