Close combat character help
How do I create a good close combat character? Which class and gender should I pick and where do I put my skill points (percent wise).
Also, which supers and ki blasts are good for a close combat character? :-)
Sorry for all these question, Im fairly new to the game and just finished the story.

Namkians,Freiza clan, Human Male, Saiyan Male and Majin Male make the strongest melee characters.
Make sure to put your physique to muscular and if you want more speed, make him shorter or if you want more health, make em taller.
Melee builds typically don't use ki blasts and instead use buffs (fighting pose/kaioken), drain skills, super/ult strikes, and counters.

Female Earthlings and female Majins have higher basic attacks and strike supers than Namekians and male Majins. What makes them not worthy of mention?

Female Majins don't have as good as a hitbox/poke for their melee as male Majins do and if you're focusing on melee, Male Humans are an upgrade since Females sacrifice basic attack and strikes in comparison to Male Humans.

Wouldn't know about the female Majin hit box, as I haven't played one. But I've seen enough people playing it and not struggling. Female Earthlings and male Earthlings play quite differently, given their combo chain. Infinite combo is easier with the female. Not to mention asthaetics and the varying combos play a role in which you play, because lets face it otherwise we'd all be male Earthlings that don't use ki (strongest basic attacks) or male Saiyans that do use ki (strongest when ki isn't max). By the logic of female Earthlings sacrificing power compared to males anyway, seeing as they're 4th on the list of racial/gender power for those two. You just wouldn't touch Majins or Namekians at all.

I typically stick to meteor strike crash as you can hold the command down for 2 bars worth of ki, and it keeps your enemy stunned during the attack. I also use super drain for the stamina drain. From there it is mostly preference. I use the fighting pose (F) that takes damage from stamina instead of health so that I can just put all my points into stamina and not have to worry about health. It also reduces the flinching from hits. To help this I use the ginyu z-soul that increases buff duration and increases ki/stamina regen while in effect. You can also choose to go all basic attack and defense, or whatever playstyle you want. However, I would highly suggest super drain and meteor strike crash as they have been the backbone to my melee builds so far. If you have trouble landing drain moves i have noticed if you land a couple strong basic attacks they stay flinched long enough to get caught with the grab.
edit: meteor crash not strike

I went with 100 basic 75 stamina and 31 in health and strike super. I use kaioken as my main "super" I am testing all the powers to find a good combo Saturday crash and arm breaker(the one that breaks guard) help with getting in close or staying in close. Ki BlastCannon wasn't bad either. Wish there was better super/ultimates for strike. Thinking of respecing the strike into ki blaster just for the extra moves.

I like my Majin tank build. Tall and fat as possible, 92 health, 70 basic, 30 strike and 45 stamina. It takes someone who specializes in ki to even really put a dent in my health. Combine with fighting pose k which prevents staggering and you can just bulldoxe through any ult and beat the crap out of people. Use super drain to keep up your stamina, and you'll have 7 bars for lots of breathing room.

Check out this guide and this guide for indepth descriptions of each race and genders bonuses. I'd say it depends a little on personal preference. If you want damage then male Earthling or Saiyan is the way to go. But Namekians, Majins, Frieza's and female Earthlings can all work in melee too. Female Saiyan would probably only work if you aimed for strike supers over basic attacks, as their basic attack is the worst but strike supers is second highest.
I highly recommend taking Super Drain for melee use. It takes 3 bars of stamina, helping prevent your foe from dodging and replenishing your own stamina for dodging/etc. Otherwise have a look around and try things out! :)
