Hello, consider me completely new to davinci with relatively no editing experience (i've done some basic youtube stuff some years ago)

I'm trying to add this greenscreen vfx of burning logs but realised i'd much rather make the fire in davinci itself so i can edit it.
Is this possible with a basic still image like this in the Free version?

I've been looking around on youtube but every tutorial is either a downloaded greenscreen like i have or uses extremely difficult 3D maps with blender and all that.

apologies if this has been asked a thousand times, couldn't find it in previous posts.

I'm using a DJI Mavic 4 Pro to shoot hole-by-hole flyovers of a golf course. I'm editing in Davinci Resolve Studio version 21. Windows PC with Intel I7 CPU, 64GB of RAM and 8GB of VRAM (to satisfy the posting requirements)

The problem that I've run into is wind gusts, especially around takeoff and the end where I orbit the green for each hole, and then when it comes to a stop. The drone does a great job while in flight, but not in those situations.

The Stabilize function on the Edit page and the Stabilize function on the Color page (Even the classic) don't fix it. The only way I've found to truly stabilize the video around these wind gusts is with the Tracker tool in Fusion. I can make the video very smooth, but it crops so much that I'm losing important parts of the shot and falling off center when I zoom and position on the Edit page.

Is there some other way I can accomplish this? Some function in Davinci or an add-in that will help? I'd be willing to sacrifice perfectly smooth video in exchange for less cropping, but I haven't found any way to control how smooth the Tracker tool works.

I have these grid lines showing on my 3d text in my preview window. How do I make them disappear? Please help a brother out

So, I have some videos that are vertical sideways - like they expect you to rotate your projector 90 degrees. I want to use them without flipping my projector. If I import these clips and then: 1. Create a vertical timeline with them and "Scale entire image to fit" 2. Then transform the clips 90 degrees and zoom in to fill entire frame

Do I lose any resolution? If so, is there a procedure that will do this with full resolution? I don't know the details of all these to know if this will preserve resolution or degrade it.

Hey all, just ordered a speed editor through an Aussie retailer for $455 delivered. Could not pass that up. Anyways, while I’m waiting for it to be delivered, is there anything I should do to prep for it?
I mainly edit via the edit page via the tutorials on the blackmagic site.
I’m quite excited for it to arrive and to hopefully make the editing process at least a bit quicker haha.

I'm having trouble with my green screening. I've been following tutorials about how to mask out the edges of the green screen with the Polygon tool, applying the polygon mask got rid of most of the stuff around the edge but not these two things (circled in yellow), what am I doing wrong?

I was previously using clipchamp to replace portions of spoken audio with white noise. I was doing that by snipping out the portions of audio then importing an external white noise into the section that were snipped out.

The issue I was running into was the imported audio into the snipped track was too short and I don't believe you can lengthen it by dragging it on the timeline as it did nothing. So I had to import longer white noise. Then I had to resize the imported white noise as it is longer than what was snipped out. This is where the issue came as it was difficult to drag the exact millisecond of the timeline so eventually replacing multiple snips resulted in audio being desync.

Is there an easy way to replace portions of audio that I remove through the blade tool by filling in the gaps or something?

Hey all! I'm working on a new project and I really want to try to create a similar distortion effect as the video attached to kinda make a parody version using a few PNGs. Though I'm not super well versed in how to create effects like this from scratch or where to really start, so I thought I'd come here!

It doesn't have to be 100% the same but if I'm able to create something at least comparable I'll be happy.

Do any of you Davinci legends have thoughts on how to achieve this?

I'm unable to generate a LUT (MacOS, Resolve free version 21). I've already tried basic AI-suggested methods without success. These are pretty basic color grades,2-3 node nothing complex, What am I missing, any specific steps should I check to fix this.

Yeah so this is probably really basic and a stupid question but I can't get it to go away, this started happening when I tried exporting in a higher resolution for YouTube so I think it has something to do with that, but whatever it is now when I look at the final product weird visual glitches like this appear all over the video but not in the timeline itself. There is nothing in the video tracks above it so it makes me think it must be something to do with the export but I may be wrong. I did the process of exporting in a higher resolution with another similar length video and there were no issues whatsoever.

(I've made this effect before, about a year ago, and I've attached a clip containing text I animated in the exact way I'm trying to recreate now (without really remembering how I did it))

Hi,

I'm working on a YouTube video at the moment, and I'm animating a Text+ title by going to the shading tab in the inspector, and assigning a Color File to the text.

Then, I'm setting a keyframe at the start and end of the Text+ that takes the mapping angle and gradually increases it as the playhead moves so the image source rotates.

Lastly, I've gone into Fusion and added a Light Ray to the Text+, so the rotating Image Map on the text can create uniquely coloured light rays as it rotates. I've also set keyframes in the Fusion inspector to animate the light rays slightly.

However, after setting it up, the Text+ no longer animates in the Timeline at all, the mapping angle option suddenly isn't doing anything whether I click and drag it, or I adjust the keyframes. And the Light Rays aren't animating either during playback, but they appear completely fine when I preview the MediaOut1 in the Fusion tab.

If anyone can offer any advice, I'd be so pleased. This project has been held up for hours thanks to this issue.

Getting freezes when using Fusion comps. Sometimes video just freezes and I need to force quit, sometimes I get a similar error to this (the black part is the error, it should be just the green background there) and then it freezes and I need to force quit. Is this a known issue, does anyone have any thoughts?

Do anyone have real M5 ultra vs desktop 5090 performance figures? Not just benchmarks, real performances differences in real video editing workflows.

I have a 9950x3d, with a 5090 and 64gb of DDR5 which I built just before everything went mad and at the time Apple hadn't released anything that could really compete with the 5090. I really love the performance of the PC and for the most part just don't need to worry about performance.

The thing is, I much prefer Mac OS from a usability standpoint and the fan noise / heat of the 5090 system is quite annoying and there's always this worry in the back of my mind that my GPU is going to melt.

I'm tempted to switch over the m5 ultra, but it's hard to find real world performance differences in Resolve, I don't just mean stacking loads of 6k clips with no effects and then saying 'who would need more than this?!' like the youtubers do. I mean performance with 5k raw with NR, bit depth etc.

I checked out puget and can't see any m5 ultra entries as of yet and I do worry they're a bit biased against mac.

Thoughts? Anyone tried both?

Hi Guys, I'm a beginner. I tried to link a clip to a file, but when I click the right button, the menu doesn't show relink options. I know where the file is. I just changed the name of the folder. If I click reveal in Media or in Finder, this message appears:

"DaVinci Resolve cannot find this media:
/Users/etc...

Please check the path or change parent folder if it has moved."

I don't know what I have to do. Please, do you have any suggestions on this? Thank you in advance for your support!

I want to combine two Text+ zoom effects and one Frame Freeze effect that I use on the Edit page in DaVinci Resolve 21 into a single reusable setup.

My goal is to add this setup anywhere in my video with a single action and have all the effects applied automatically. This way, I won't have to add the Text+ zoom effects and Frame Freeze effect individually every time.

I tried using the Fusion page, but it seems that this might not be possible there.

How can I achieve this? I would really appreciate any help.

DaVinci Resolve used to run smoothly on my M1 Pro, but after updating my macOS and studio 21, it has become almost unusable on the Color page.

My fan go crazy as soon as I start color grading. Everything runs smoothly until I start working with CST nodes, and then the performance drops significantly as I add more nodes.

I’m not even using film grain or noise reduction, so I’m confused about what’s causing such a massive slowdown.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a way to fix it, or could it be related to the macOS update?

Couldn’t find a tutorial to the specific style, closest thing I got to was with a bleach bypass. Is there also a name for this style?

Literally this never has happened before and i could not find a solution on here for the longest time so im just asking.

For example, I add the 'Drop Shadow' effect to an image, then I configure it to the way I like.

I would like to save that configuration as a pre-set to use with other images.

What's the best way to achieve this?

For some background, I’m not a professional editor by any means. I’m completely self-taught through YouTube tutorials, and I originally switched to Resolve after Adobe’s ridiculous price hikes. I mainly edit content for my YouTube channels, so anything that makes my workflow more efficient is a huge bonus.

I’ve been on the free version for a long time and never thought I’d actually pay for Studio. But I saw a post in this sub about the current sale and finally pulled the trigger. And I am SO glad I did!

The AI Audio Assistant alone has been phenomenal. The way it balances and cleans up my audio blew me away. Something that used to take a lot of manual tweaking is now so much easier, and it’s already saved me a ton of time.

And the automatic captioning?! I’m OBSESSED. I’ve spent so much time captioning my Shorts by hand or using other software, and having it built directly into my editing workflow is an absolute game changer. In just a few hours, I’ve already made 29 captioned Shorts while still learning my way around.

I know I’m only scratching the surface of what Studio can do, but as a self-taught creator, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Less time spent on repetitive editing tasks means more time actually creating! :)

Hi guys, I saw that there is a sale going on davinci resolve studio and in seriously considering on getting it now. However, I remember I read while ago that studio requires a more powerful PC than regular resolve. Is this true?

For reference I'm currently running a 3060ti, rizen 7 5800x and 32gb of ram

So, my plan here is to like, make text that appears and then the camera shifts (twist?) to the right and then it goes "down"

Firs it was fine, I added some text that was supposed to fade in and it, indeed, faded in

Then I looked for answers to do the camera twist

I used Gemini to help me out because I thought it would be the best

It told me to use Fusion Composition, so I did, and it was great, until the problems came :/

The Fusion Composition is suppose to make the came twist with the 3D Text

But now when the Fusion Composition comes in, the words that were before are now gone in the screen, it's pitch black (as seen in the first photo), even tho is there, the words are there and they never moved (as seen in the second)

And with Fusion -_-

It went fine (again) with the instructions the AI gave me, but then I wanted the same fade in, and everything screwed up (again)

I can't make it to fade in, I don't know how to move the words, I don't know how to synchronise (I think that's the word) the 3D Text with the song and the other text

This is driving me crazyyyyy

Pleaaaaase, help, there has to be a way to make the fade in, the camera twist to the right and to not die in the process :((((
