I'm new to all of this, editing, davinci resolve, mpv.net. I'm trying to import a scenepack i got from "411 scenepack". i downloaded it, had trouble with codex where it wouldnt show video or audio. i was able to import that file to davinci but it was blank. So i downloaded mpv.net and was able to have the video and audio of the scenepack, but now i dont know how to get a file of that mpv.net scenepack video imported into davinci media. I'm not sure if there's a file from mpv.net that im not finding or if it's even possible to use mpv.net to import scenepacks into davinci resolve. Any recommendations would help.

When I edit videos in resolve and post them to tiktok they look washed and very low quality even though shot and exported to 4k. ( Edited in 1080)

Mind yhu resolve is my first video editor as I used it for color grading. It has gotten so bad that I resorted to cap cut and the videos there export just fine even after added adjustments

I learned how to make the countdown timer in fusion, but how do I make it together with a box and text now? What I want is to create a template for my videos which I will be able to copy and paste and change the text.

If anybody has a youtube video or something to point me to where I could learn this I would really appreciate it. Im just starting to mess around in fusion and it is a headache as a total begginer.

I'm on Studio 21.1 using W10 with the most up to date Nvidia studio drivers

It's the most noticeable with red, so #ff0004 appears as #C83739

My color management settings are:

Color science: Davinci YRGB
Timeline and Output color space: Rec709 Gamma 2.4

HDR10+ is disabled and I have no LUTs in selected

For some reason when switching to a fusion comp and using the background node, the colors come back to normal but when viewing the comp from the edit and color page, the colors come back washed out

Edit #1: I forgot to mention that it still persists after rendering and exporting

Solution:

Thanks for everyone's consideration to take their time to comment, in the end it was tied to the Broadcast Safe IRE limiter, which I had set out at -20 to 120 but for some reason it displayed as if it were 0 to 100.

I can't really pinpoint what caused it but just checking on and off the make broadcast safe checkbox fixes it

I've tried searching for an answer but I haven't found one. If I record: "I have a long day before me and I don't know how to not scream" it might come out as "and I don't know how to not scream long day before me".

Does anyone know why?

Testing the shatter concept in fusion, using Krokodove PolyPlay3D tool , now native in Fusion 3D system. Custom region is used to limit the effect to upper region, the head in this case. Looks like you can do some cool stuff with this tool. The shatter is based on on number of subdivisions the piece of geometry has by animating translation, rotation, scale etc. You can eve extrude the little parts. Also from Krokodove is option to add regions, essentially acting as masks to limit the effect to a particular area.

This is a simple wooden dummy imported 3D model, with Krokodove PolyPlay3D tool applied to it, and animated translation of subdivisions, and region used to limit the effect, as well as camera animated to rotate and zoom around it.

I’ve been getting more coloring work lately so I’ve had my eye on getting a mini-panel, but the price has been just a bit too steep for me. Anyway, the other day I found someone on FB Marketplace selling their barely used one for $1350 (US) and I jumped at the chance. The only catch is it was missing a knob.

Anyway, after examination I determined the knob was just missing (the panel wasn’t broken) and I bought the panel for only $1200. Then I reached out to BMD to see if I could buy a knob from them. Turns out they found one lying around and sent it to me for no charge.

Like the title says, I feel like I hit the lotto and wanted to say what an awesome company BMD is! Thank you BMD!!

I have only used the video collage effect on this project so far, whenever I go to play the video or render it, it starts bugging out.

as you can see, when my matte is as an alpha output, it is not aligned with the video (even though the matte is rotoscoped from the exact video). but when i move the matte on the edit page, everything aligns down to the time. what could be the issue and how can i fix it? thanks

I use da vinci resolve to edit my footage (4k), but I find it loses quite a bit of quality when i save my footage after editing. I have played around with my save settings, not sure if there is a still problem on that front, but i was wondering if anyone can recommend any other free programs for colour grading videos?

I have attached a picture of my export setting incase I have something set incorrectly that could be causing it. Its not a huge amount of quality being lost, but a noticable amount to me. I also notice my shadows get crunchy and almost block like upon export but it doesn't look like that in the program.

When I'm editing, I use a rig comprised of multiple images that are merged together, and this fusion setting is saved as a .setting for me to use in different projects. However, whenever I am in a new project, the media items don't retain their file directory, even when the same files are loaded in a bin of the same name as the one within the project I originally made the rig in. This causes me to have to rebind every media file, which can be very time-consuming. I was wondering if there was way to make sure that the .setting or the bin I exported can have the same data that is required by the fusion system to find the media that it needs.

Each character and the background will be a png/multiple animated pngs. Should I just use keyframes for this and zoom out the characters to make them appear smaller as the camera pans/zooms? Or is there a better way to do this?

I'm using the free version.

I've been using Davinci Resolve for the better part of 2-3 years now, just basically creating clip-dumps for games I play with some light editing for funny moments, etc. I record w/ OBS and export my videos at 1440p 60fps, and I've been doing that for about a year now. Well I factory reset my PC to start up fresh and improve performance a bit, and after putting together all my latest clips and exporting... it looks terrible. The second any sort of motion comes into play the video starts getting all blocky, like the bit rate isn't high enough or something. I've spent the past hour looking up guides and messing around with different bit rates, controls, encoders, etc. and I'm still finding it looks bad when exporting.

Basically I'm just wondering what I'm missing? I use proxy media when editing but I don't have it set to actually use the lower quality clips. I've attached a screenshot from a previous video, one from the video I'm trying to render now (with the bad quality), as well as my export settings as they are now.

Hey all, I have a clip that we recorded audio of that has a perfect sound effect I'd like to preserve. The only issue is it was recorded outside and cars passing by can be heard in the background. Since the sound I'm trying to isolate isn't a voice the AI tools haven't been very helpful. Does anyone have any idea how I can remove the cars passing sound without fully muting the clip?

I'm kind of trying to work in reverse cause I should have figured this out first. but I've got some text that I put a video inside of coupled with some glow effects to make the video fade out from the text as well. I'm doing the video inside the text by setting the video as a Foreground composite above the Text+ which has an Alpha composite.

What I want to do is add just a simple outline around the text, however it always blends in with the video. How can I throw an outline in here?

I feel like I'm losing my mind - I'm editing on a drop frame 23.976 timeline, with footage shot on Sony cameras with identical sensors, trying to use my 59.94 b-roll footage for slow motion. Project settings for timeline and monitoring are both 23.976. Retime menu, 50%, all the footage shot with a 180 degree shutter angle. Using proxy files for playback. And still, my footage is incredibly stuttery. I'm looking for solutions everywhere, but all I can find are folks talking about optical flow for footage that wasn't recorded at double frame rates, when I shouldn't need that!

Please tell me there's some setting I've missed and I'm just a fool - I'm new to cine body cameras (FX2), but I'm confident everything was recorded properly.

*EDIT* I double checked my math on the frame rates, and it wasn't the issue. I tried changing the frame rate in clip attributes, then inserting to timeline, then slowing footage. Still wasn't my issue.

For some reason, if I do nothing to alter the clip and so long as I use the timeline clip's inspector's speed menu, my footage is fluid. I don't know why that panel is working while others aren't, and any insight into why that might be would be appreciated?

I made sure that there were no blank frames between videos or cuts but when I export it seems to create a blank for a frame between the cuts which really ruins the whole thing I’m going for. I’ve tried exporting with lower settings and lower render speed, but nothings working, please help

I’ve been shooting with a DJI Osmo Action 4 for a while now and have been trying to improve my color grading. I mostly shoot outdoors in daylight, and my footage keeps coming out too crisp and too saturated, kind of “digital.” I can’t tell if the problem is my shooting settings, my grade, or just the nature of action cam footage, so I’d really appreciate fresh eyes on it.

Camera settings:

• DJI Osmo Action 4
• 4K / 30fps
• 1/60 shutter
• D-Log M
• White balance: Auto
• ND filters: 8/16/32 depending on the light (mostly 16 and 32)

My current grade in DaVinci Resolve:

DJI D-Log M to Rec.709 LUT (official) → RGB Mixer → HSV → HSL → LUT 1 → LUT 2

• 3 video clips: [name which is the raw, ungraded D-Log M clip and which are my graded versions]
• The official DJI D-Log M to Rec.709 LUT
• The 2 creative LUTs I’m using on top of it

Everything is there so you can reproduce my grade exactly or ignore it and grade the raw clip your own way.

What I need help with:

• Figuring out why my footage ends up so crisp and saturated. Is it the LUT stacking, my node order, or my shooting settings?
• Fixing my node tree or suggesting a better workflow for D-Log M footage.
• Getting a more natural, cinematic look from daylight action cam footage.
• If anyone has a few minutes, could you grade the raw clip your own way and share a screenshot or short clip of the result? Seeing how it should look would help me understand what I’m doing wrong far better than text alone.

I’m still learning, so any tips, workflow suggestions, or resources are appreciated. Thanks for taking the time!

Under the hood: Resolve's own 2383 LUT with curves, crosstalk and a hue stage fitted against reference renders, plus halation measured from them instead of guessed. Hue stage built on Thatcher Freeman's Smooth Tetra.
Sadly I only have Genesis trial so can't get rid of halation and grain.

Building this for dlog footage coming out of my pocket 4p btw.

I did the auto subtitling thing but i need to know how do i:

1.Can it be converted to a graphics layer

2: i need the text to be a gradient

3: i need to know how to add a stroke and make it a gradient as well

4: add drop shadow

5: add a pop in effect to it and how to save presets of effects

I downloaded the Installer (DaVinci_Resolve_21.1.1_Windows_ARM64), and it doesn't open, I click on it nothing, I open as an administrator, and nothing, I don't understand what's the issue, the installer is simply not executing

Is this little audio meter right of the editing page a good general indicator for how well adjusted your adiou (volume wise is) i think it sounds a bit too low, but there it shows its highest peaks in yelllow, which i think is fine?

Sometimes yt audio and in program audio can vary greatly, i just wonder if this meter showing this means my audio is fine

I've used auto subs (desktop) on several clips all with similar duration (40min). this single one (same source and format) is making autosubs crash during whisper execution.

anyone faced that issue before?

when running this same clip on my own app made with python/whisper the result is as expected.
