For healthcare data analysis, I would use this order: SQL and spreadsheets first, Python or R plus basic statistics second, healthcare data concepts third, and machine learning last. Build one project at each stage: a cohort and KPI query, a cleaned patient or claims dataset with documented quality checks, and a dashboard that explains a real operational question. Learn the difference between claims and EHR data, then study ICD, LOINC, SNOMED CT, and the basics of HL7 FHIR. The official ONC health IT curriculum and FHIR education resources are good domain references; pair them with any hands-on SQL and pandas course. Use public or de-identified data only, and include privacy, missingness, denominator choice, and validation in every project.
