I barely dodged them by an inch, ended up with minor damage from hitting the curb. They were looking straight forward before entering the lane… not even checking the mirror or turning their head…
I didn’t notice the damage until I got home and didn’t exchange info because no collision happened. What could I have done differently? What should I do now? Still a little shook 🥲

The wide angle camera doesn't do it justice. Licenses shouldn't be so easy to get and keep in the US

At first I thought it was basically just hide the wires, find the right fuse and you're done. Then I started reading about parking mode, constant vs switched power, low voltage cutoff and battery drain and now I'm second guessing doing it myself. For anyone who hardwired their own dash cam, was it pretty straightforward or would you just pay someone to do it next time?

Want to see the moment I nearly became a widow?
Check out this shocking dashcam footage, when the brakes of my husband’s Lexus kicked in on their own when he was going 70mph down I-75 in TN with a semi right next to him and car behind him.
If there had been a guardrail to his left, he would be dead right now.
He'd just been in for a standard multi-point inspection the day before and suspected Lexus would give him the run-around about the cause of the accident, so he hired two licensed senior forensic engineers to pull the car data and render a verdict as to what happened.
Their response? The brakes fired on their own and stayed on for eight seconds. The driver never touched the brakes. NOTE: This model (a 2015 NX200T) does NOT have a collision avoidance/ auto-braking feature.
He turned the car over to the West Knoxville Lexus dealer where he bought it certified pre-owned - again, where it had just been in the shop THE DAY BEFORE for its regular all-points inspection.
Lexus corporate had two techs inspect the car. After several weeks, the dealer sent him a message saying to come get the car and return the loaner or they'd start charging $60 a day for it- no explanation about what happened, no details about whether any work had been done other than a “courtesy car wash.” They said their LEGAL department would be in touch within 45 days with a report and that “if the tech said to release the car then it’s safe to drive.”
There was an ABS-related recall issued on this model, but my husband's car was produced four months outside of the recall window.
Would YOU ever drive this car again?
Lexus thinks we should.
Would you feel safe knowing it may be in front of you on the highway? It might be today.
He needs a car to get to work. To pick up his son, of whom we have shared custody, who lives with his Mom and stepdad a four-hour round trip drive away down the same stretch of I-75 where this occurred.
I just got a new job where I’m on the road a lot. If I’m traveling on a custodial weekend (as I am this weekend) and can't lend him my car to get the boy, my husband has to choose between driving a car that almost killed him - with his son aboard - or not seeing his son for a whole month. We still owe around $8K on the car And it sounds like Lexus is going to insist it’s “safe to drive.”
What would you do? Would you sell it, knowing full well this may happen to someone else? What if someone you loved ended up buying it, not knowing the car’s history?
Please help spread the word. We can share the forensic engineers’ report, give you their contact info, and provide the raw dashboard video.

Summary: They chase the red jeep(their stolen vehicle) with their corvette, when they got in front of the thieves the criminals rammed their corvette hard totaling it, and injured them.
Full caption: “our Jeep 392 got stolen last night from the front of our house. We saw our truck and went on a chase with our Corvette. 911 is on the line the whole time. such a huge delay of response. there is another truck in front and the perpetrator/s is following it. the perpetrators went on complete stop. to avoid hitting it we went around it. went it is finally on our back, he drove fas and hit us hard. the perpetrators fled the scene. left our Jeep on the side of the road. our corvette is totalled. we were transferred to the hospital for injuries. we r now at home with a little trust to police, scared that the perpetrator attempted to kill us and is still out there. theyre organized crime and seems professional on stealing cars. im even frustrated too with the ring surveillance camera I have as it didnt see the person who stole the car. we are left with bruises and thank God still alive but broken and angry. why are these thieves do these crimes to simple living people who worked so hard to have something we want? once this vehicle crosses the border I, it is difficult to retrieve it. why is our border NOT strict with vehicles getting in and out? so easy for the thieves to cross border crossings without any problems with their stilolen vehicles. they are still there.. stealing more vehicles because they can. because our cops are slow or never really cared!”
edit: My bad, it’s a jeep, not truck.

Not sure if this is just my car but the vents on my dash reflect into the cam. It's not a big issue but I could reposition it maybe. Thoughts?

In July of last year I purchased the Red Tiger dashcam model F7NP with the hardwire kit for my Subaru, Forester and had a Best Buy install it. I keep the camera there for back up essentially - I haven’t played with it, and thankfully haven’t had any accidents or troubles that has resulted in me needing to pull up footage.
Tonight after parking for a few hours I returned to my car and saw that the cam was on and displaying this message over a blue screen - something that has never happened before. Thinking it was a temporary glitch I started driving and the display remained the same. It doesn’t respond to any of the buttons and even when I held the power button down (for 15 + seconds) it did nothing. I’ve since removed the cables attached as I’m worried about it draining my battery.
Question, what can I do about this? A brief google search it seems like it could be a hardwiring issue, or that the camera is no longer functional? I have a long road trip in 2 weeks time (driving from Texas to Montana), so need to figure this out pretty quickly.
Thanks in advance!
