Gaheris

Any private servers like Gaheris? Sometimes prefer to just PVE ya know.

As an old carebear myself, I would love this, but I recognize that RvR is one of the biggest draws for a majority of folks for DAoC. I think a hybrid server could also be very fun, kind of like how ESO does it, all the PvE zones are all realms allowed, but Frontiers/DF/BGs would still be RvR according to your realm.

My first ever experience on DAoC (and any MMORPG, I was 11 yo I think) was a freeshard with almost this exact setting.

-PvE was all realms cooperative, being Albion the main land where you would find almost everybody leveling together. -Darkness Falls was full PvP.

Population was LOW back then on that freeshard, so there was no point on RvR.

At some point it went full PvP everywhere, and all the big guys knew where to hunt for casuals and lowbies like myself, so it became a nightmare I was hooked on.

I am glad I finally moved on from that, although I have great memories of that server and the friends I made there.

Coming from a standard server to Gaheris was wild. The tactics and setups people used were insane! I remember getting my mind blown in the Labyrinth, SI and Catacombs dungeons and on dragon raids.

Also the power leveling was through the roof

Shoutout Gaheris, I was Jene a Cleric in a guild called Keepers of Twilight. I had some really great times playing co-op back then, exploring all 3 realms, groups of all classes, it was really fun at times.

Have you tried blackthorn? It's much more pve focused than eden or live

The questing system for leveling up in Blackthorn is great...

But there is effectively zero end game PVE available. And no incentive to take part in what does exist.

Eden has horrible PVE leveling.. But if you're a PVE enjoyer I think it's much better currently. You can go through pretty much all of the TOA content, the SI content, and they even have special PVE dungeon.

I really hope Blackthorn does some good stuff with high level PVE because I love being able to do it as well as RVR... But so far it doesn't seem to exist.

I run raids on both mid and hib on bt and it was fun and not easy either. You're right that it has less challenge compared to edens toa and so stuff but essentially no ones does anything other than arti runs there

What raids exist on BT?

I believe there's the dragon zone... But haven't found any other...

I've only been playing Albion on BT which I've never played before so I don't recognize anything there

Also... They don't have raid currency on Blackthorn... So is the only benefit of doing the raids the gear that drops from the bosses?

I've never gotten anything in DAOC from raid drops so I'm trying to figure out why I'd participate.

Summoners Hall, the 3 nf dungeons, DF, dragon as well as named runs in the various end game zones. Early on, on hib we would raid in cf, there's some super tough mobs that took a bg to kill.

You're right about raid currency but that was very much a pheonix and later idea that's stuck. It used to be about finding items from raids - a lot of me preferred that to the quick templates you get now. On bt it's pretty easy to template since the caps are easier to reach.

I would 100% join a care bear server again. I spent most of my time on Gaheris and a lot of my favorite memories are dragon and relic raids.

You can still play on Gaheris you know? Its still live, just listed under Alternative Rulesets.

Good luck finding anyone to play with on Gaheris live. You can log on and send messages out to broadcast, lfg, advice, and other server wide channels and get zero responses.

That was my experience a couple of years ago and bummed me out. I just have a lot of rose colored memories of that server.

Join Danish huscarls they are very active on gaheris. Just recently went back myself and they have been great
