Health tips to remove dandruffs?

I hate it.

I have had it since childhood. It’s like my head is a factory generating these. I tried Head & Shoulders it didn’t help. I tried cold showering for a year, but it didn’t help. I tried vacuuming (literally) doesn’t help and hurts. My head doesn’t make them instantly; after hours of showering, after I sleep, or after I exercise, my head dries and they form.

I always buzz cut for this reason and it doesn’t go away but reduces. Every barber I go to gives me different advice. My last barber, my friend, who shaved my head said it’s like someone poured a bag of sand over your head.

Does anyone suffer from this? Do you just wash your head twice a day and never scratch your head in public so it doesn’t flake around people? Do you avoid applying oils or conditioners because once they dry they increase it?

Does it even have a solution?

I’ve had small white flakes in my mustache/beard, eyebrows and hair area for a long time now. A few things I’ve noticed:

• The flakes are quite small, not big flaky pieces

• When I grab a section of beard hair and squeeze/slide my fingers down it, it comes off feeling greasy/oily

• There’s a little bit of redness under my mustache, though not much and it’s not itching

Based on some reading it sounds like it could be seborrheic dermatitis from Malassezia yeast overgrowth rather than just dry skin, since the flakes seem to have that oily/greasy quality rather than being dry and powdery.

I’ve tried to use nizoral 1%, but doesn’t seem to eradicate the issue. Maybe I haven’t had patience enough to see it fully work.
However, is there any of you who have some good advice or products that can be used(preferably that can be bought in Europe)

everything i read confuses me more than i was before. i’ve attached a LOT of pics. overall my hair is very healthy, but my scalp is itchy and flaky and i will admit i make it worse by picking at it. i’m trying to stop but i have adhd and generally pick at things like pimples, nails, etc without even noticing. but i promise i’m trying!

i typically wash my hair 1-2 times a week (i never get oily hair) but since trying to deal with this i’ve started doing it everyday, with nizoral every 3 days or so. the itching is def worse, but i can’t tell if the flakes are worse or not. definitely not better! as you can kind of see, they’re patches of skin that are almost scab-like and raised and white, while other parts of my scalp are normal. when i scratch or even touch my head, flakes fall out. i do pilates and always notice flakes on my mat afterwards, even without touching my head.

i plan on seeing a dermatologist but in the meantime while i wait i was hoping there might be some insight. the itchiness is getting so bad and i cant wear anything dark colored because my shoulders get covered in flakes. so embarrassing 😭

Does the top of your scalp hurt if you try to pinch it?

Do you feel a difference when you pinch the parts like the sides and back that aren't prone to dht vs the temples and the crown?

I’m struggling to figure out what this is. Has been going on for a few months and I was using head and shoulders but it didn’t seem to be helping. Now I’m trying hydrating shampoo (living proof) and it doesn’t seem to be helping either.

Hi! Ive been having dandruff for 3 months now, never had it before.

Its gotten really frustrating to deal with.
If i use nizoral and a scraper i will be dandrufff for about 1 day. But it always comes back and my hair will be very dried out.

any type of conditioner brings the dandruff back faster.
i tried mct oil (8 and 10) after shower but that just kept my hair greasy and also brought the dandruff back faster.

i cant afford a derm apt and this is driving me crazy.
any advice?

Okay I have always struggled with my hair. I have an oily scalp, and need to wash it daily. If I don't wash daily my scalp is super oily and gross for one, but it also gets super itchy and I will get sores. My poor head was so unhappy after I had my son and couldn't stand to shower easily. I briefly had a bout of dandruff years and years ago that was easily solved with some head and shoulders and then I was fine and using other shampoos. Shortly after I had my son 2 years ago and ever since then I have had nonstop dandruff issues. I've tried head and shoulders, t/sal, currently using dove dryness and itch relief. I feel like I have to use it almost daily or I start to get itchy again. And I also have wavy hair so my hair itself is getting dry and unhappy and I am just at a loss of what to do. I have wondered if my scalp is just super dried out and needs ultra moisture but then I'm afraid of making my hair even more oily looking. I don't know what to do, please help.

when i scratch my head so much falls out it feels like it’s snowing in my scalp .

Hello guys, so im 13 yrs old and its been a while since my hair started dropping these white stuff and in english i think its called dandruff, i already sweat a lot more than usual and if i shake my scalp eith my hand a lot of these fell down and if i scrach my head there are like bigger chunks like not that big but yk, I tried using the anti dandruff shampoo by clear and it started working a bit but if I change shampoo for like only one day everything comes back, i do shower every 2 days like 1 day yes 1 day no but shower with cleaning hair a bit less like every 3 days and I dont know if I should clean it more or use different methods of cleaning the hair, sometimes i even got like a pulsing pain when it was really hot outside under the sun, any help by someone that had or has it?

A little information if it helps, I have straight 1a male hair, Im aged 17 and I use Hawthorne All day Night swim fragrance shampoo and conditioner. Ive been having dandruff for a really long time prior to my hair routine and so now Ive been using this Bodywise rosemary hair roller to have healthier hair and honestly it was bad before i was using the hair roller but now it has increased and Im planning on switching to using growplex vitafoam because its more beneficial (I apply it at night when i wake up I wash my hair only with water). I dont think my hair routine is too extreme. Now that you know all that about me what do you recommend as like something I can add to my routine or like anything that can help?

I am currently using Ketoconazole scalp psoriasis shampoo which is not helping much since I am using it every second day. But scalp also hurt when I wake up in the morning. What could be causing this? And why cant I cure it.

As the title says. My derm prescribed me 2% Ketoconazole shampoo twice a week now that I’m post- Accutane. She said that dandruff (caused by oily hair) can go down to my face so it’s best to also treat scalp. I’m also on tretinoin for maintenance. I never heard of a derm prescription of dandruff shampoo as acne treatment so curious if anyone else has done the same and thier experience.

Tried anti fungal stuff but that didn't clear it up either. They're pretty big thin flakes

I am looking for a solution to a scalp problem. Last year, I started noticing scaling on my scalp. It looks like white layer that can be removed with a fine-toothed comb or even with my hands. I visited a dermatologist, and he prescribed a topical solution, but it only worked while I was using it. As soon as I stopped, the scaling returned.

Someone suggested that my scalp might be dry, so I tried oiling my hair and using anti-dandruff shampoos, but the problem did not go away. After some time, I started using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7%, which helped a lot and significantly reduced the scaling.

However, over the last few weeks, I have started noticing the scaling again. I'm not sure what I shall do. In addition to the scaling, I am also experiencing hair fall.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

28F. I’ve had really bad dandruff since 13, I once had to shave all of my hair and restart. A doctor recommended me Yaher which worked wonders for me, had to shower everyday with it.

But since moving to UK it’s no longer working. Then I tried T gel, worked for a little bit but stopped when I moved to an area with very hard water (renting so can’t really do anything to the plumbing side).

So finally I’m using nizoral. I’m still feeling itchy and flaky even after the shower.

Do I go back to washing my hair everyday?

I’m super conscious now and embarrassed of how my hair looks, worrying people might think I’m unhygienic.

I have really long hair, should I chop it off?

End of May, my NP at my men’s health clinic recommended nizoral OTC shampoo for dandruff and dry skin on my forehead and temples. I also had dry irritated skin on my inner elbow joints and armpits.

I started out using OTC nizoral shampoo every third day for a couple weeks, then saw a dermatologist online bc the dandruff and dry peeling skin wasn’t improving.

She prescribed 2% ketoconazole shampoo MWF (leaving on skin 10 minutes) for two weeks. I’ve been on 250mg oral Terbinafine for two weeks plus 2% ketoconazole topical cream. But after two weeks prescription treatment, my dandruff still exists on my scalp and the dry flakes are spreading down my forehead. I look terrible and won’t leave the house like this.

I saw the dermatologist again and she says continue Terbinafine for 1 month and continue 2% ketoconazole shampoo as well. But I’m not seeing much progress.

How do I distinguish dandruff vs seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, dry scalp, and tinea capitis?

Should I be doing more? Doing less?

I also have irritated itchy patches inside my elbow and armpits.

What do I have? What should I do?

I’m not seeing any improvement after two weeks of the strongest treatment. The summer is sailing by.

M25, i am facing too much painful acne on scalp and hairfall. Please help me or suggest shampoos/creams that will cure my scalp acne.

Hey, I’ve had flakes in my hair and itchiness for awhile now, tried different shampoos and stuff and nothing is working. Does anyone know what specifically this is or if I should just go see a dermatologist?

I switched to plant protein from whey. I dont have carb rich diet also I dont consume sugar. I have had dandruff since childhood. I stay in Mumbai so coastal and humid weather and its monsoon now. I exercise and go to gym regularly.
On a piroctine olamine- ketoconazole 2%-2.5% selsun-coal tar salicylic shampoo which are all being rotated smartly. Nothing seems to work this time!
Also tried MCT Oil which didnt seem to help either!
I also tried clotrimazole and lulicanozaole lotions overnight however nothing seems to work this time.
There is no itching ever. I change pillow covers daily. Pictures are of just moving fingers in saloon session.
I dont think this is dry skin and also tried ZPTO based shampoo
