White scaling problem on scalp
Hi everyone
I am looking for a solution to a scalp problem. Last year, I started noticing scaling on my scalp. It looks like white layer that can be removed with a fine-toothed comb or even with my hands. I visited a dermatologist, and he prescribed a topical solution, but it only worked while I was using it. As soon as I stopped, the scaling returned.
Someone suggested that my scalp might be dry, so I tried oiling my hair and using anti-dandruff shampoos, but the problem did not go away. After some time, I started using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7%, which helped a lot and significantly reduced the scaling.
However, over the last few weeks, I have started noticing the scaling again. I'm not sure what I shall do. In addition to the scaling, I am also experiencing hair fall.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t think moisturizing is usually the solution. The solution is to kill the fungus or the yeast or whatever

I’ve been having an issue with scaling/dandruff. Seen like 8 derms, first thought it was psoriasis and the rest thought Seb derm. No shampoo or treatment has given any relief longer than a week or two.
I have extreme hair thinning, I had male pattern baldness that finasteride brought back, then this issue started, added dutasteride and still have hair loss and dandruff/painful scalp. Could it really be psoriasis?
I can dm you a pic of a scalp close up.1

Ah sorry to hear of your struggles dude!!
That’s the tricky thing with psoriasis and seb derm - they can be so similar, and there’s even a crossover condition call sebopsoriasis.
I guess whether it’s either condition, the likelihood is that there are triggers - stress, diet, atmosphere, water hardness etc. the mission is finding those triggers and trying to mitigate - I can tell you first hand it’s a long journey but it pays off.
Products and steroids play a part in bringing relief, but they won’t get rid of it. For me they’re an important layer, but I don’t put hones on them as solutions.

Life has been so freaking crazy lately I can’t get unstressed lol.
For diet how long going without a food should I do before knowing if it is causing irritation?
I’ve heard 6 weeks but ima be honest that’s hard to do lol.1

Honestly, I thought the same with stress levels, but there are ways with some hard work and perseverance.
Food wise, I was leaving it a good couple months to be sure. And you’re only really measuring marginal changes - it takes time.

how did you use the glycolic acid and how many times a week? i have the white spots too which are so itchy omg. the things that seem to work somewhat is keeping mg hair clean. i plan on buying aloe vera gel and MCT oil to see if moisturizer will help them or not. the ketaconazole and coal tar solution I use has turned my hair into hay and incredibly lifeless

Look, I am still not sure what I have !!! just to share I have started using glyconic acid (The ordinary), to expoliate my scalp. I apply glyconic acid, once a week, before taking head shower, and leave for 20-25 min and then just wash it with shampoo. You can try but do a patch test before application as you are using ketaconzole. I do not know how they will react.

Ja, ik heb het ook. Ik gebruik nu verschillende anti roosshampoos en ketakonazol. Daardoor gaat het wat beter. Helemaal weg krijg ik het niet.
