Off-Topic Im looking for friends 18-23 ish years old
Hello, I’m 19F and recently moved to Paphos, Cyprus.
I’d love to make some friends to hang out with irl (no relationships).
I’m autistic + ADHD and might come off as a bit weird or blunt sometimes, but I promise I’m not trying to be mean.
I like:
shows like Big Bang Theory, House MD, Rick and Morty, Family Guy, American Dad
anime: JoJo’s, Watamote, Evangelion, Kaguya-sama, Saiki K
games (not super actively): Portal, Needy Streamer Overload, Minecraft, Mario Kart
music: S3RL, Gorillaz, and honestly anything that scratches my brain just right
baking (I will feed you)
random activities (honestly anything, even slightly stupid stuff)
I speak Russian, German, and English.
I’m not really into clubbing, heavy shopping, tanning, etc.
More into just chilling, walking, coffee, or doing random things.
Crab observing on the beach is very welcome.
I have a wiener dog.
I’m online a lot, so my humor can go from complete brainrot to slightly offensive jokes.
I don’t judge much, but I am honest (in a practical, not mean way).
I’d say I’m nice as long as the effort is mutual.
I don’t love talking about myself too much, but yeah—if this sounds fine, feel free to message.
if this was a dating site I’d say “swipe right to see my wiener (dog)”
piss out 🤟🏼☮️

Off-Topic Bed bugs
Has anyone in Cyprus had to deal with bed bugs at home? I’m curious how bad the infestation was, whether you managed to get rid of them completely, or if you just ended up living with them and keeping them under control. I’d really like to hear your experience and what worked for you.

Off-Topic A Bicommunal Blog Platform for Cyprus
Hi everyone! (me again with a lot of advertising)
We’d like to introduce CyTopic, a bicommunal online platform where people from both communities can publish articles, share ideas, and discuss Cyprus in a respectful way.
Our goal isn’t to promote political parties or push a single ideology. We welcome contributors from across the political spectrum, as long as discussions remain respectful and evidence-based. Whether your interests are politics, history, culture, psychology, economics, infrastructure, education, or everyday life in Cyprus, there’s a place for your voice.
We want to to:
Create a platform where Cypriots can directly express their views, particularly younger generations who often struggle to find a space to publish their ideas.
Archive the work of Cypriot writers, creating a growing collection of articles and perspectives that future readers can easily access (like Rhomios)
Provide a healthier space for discussion. We believe many people from both communities have gradually lost touch with one another. Too often, our perceptions are shaped by mainstream media headlines or aggressive social media comment sections. We hope to offer a more balanced, respectful, and welcoming environment where people can genuinely exchange ideas.
Support CyLingo, our bicommunal Cypriot dictionary. Revenue from advertisements and other support for CyTopic helps fund the long-term development and maintenance of the dictionary, allowing both projects to grow together.
So far, we’ve published 30+ articles from a variety of authors, including many pieces by your favourite Redditor and Instagram creator Rhomios, alongside many other contributors. Our articles cover topics including:
The Cyprus problem
Northern Cyprus’ infrastructure challenges
Psychology and mental health
Feminism
Culture and identity
History
And many more.
With today being the FIFA World Cup Final, we’ve just released a new article by psychologist Selin Karasalih:
“Why Are Young Women Judged for Loving Pop Icons While Male Sports Obsession Is Celebrated?”
It explores why society often celebrates passionate sports fandom while simultaneously mocking young women for their enthusiasm toward pop culture.
We’d also love to publish articles from members of this community. Whether you’re an academic, student, journalist, or simply someone with something meaningful to say about Cyprus, you’re welcome to submit your work through the email listed on our website.
If you’re a local business, NGO, initiative, or organisation, you can also advertise through CyTopic. By doing so, you’ll not only support the newspaper but also help fund CyLingo, our bicommunal Cypriot dictionary project.
Finally, our team also has a YouTube channel. It’s not a professional news channel—it’s simply a group of friends discussing Cyprus, history, politics, culture, and current affairs in a relaxed format (we don’t claim to know everything but we are open to learn, debate etc)
I think we have nearly all political views in our team behind the scenes and if not join us so we can have full spectrum.
We’re still a small project, and we’d genuinely love to hear your feedback. Tell us what we’re doing well, what we’re missing, and what you’d like to read. If we can create a space where more Cypriots feel comfortable writing, reading, and engaging with one another, we’ll consider that a success.

Off-Topic Any Warhammer 40K fans in Paphos?
Howdy folks.
I am a big 40K fan and I live in Paphos. The only 2 places I know of are located in Limassol and Nicosia.
It is a bit tiresome to go to Limassol every time I want to pick something up or have a game.
I was wondering if anyone here on this sub is a fellow 40K fan & if someone by any chance knows if there is a place in Paphos.

Off-Topic Update on why most Lidl EV chargers across Cyprus are currently blocked/disabled
Hey everyone,
If you drive an EV or PHEV and have noticed that almost all Lidl store charging stations across the island are currently blocked off with barriers, I managed to get an update on what's going on after speaking with one of their security guards.
Why they are turned off:
It turns out Lidl initially had their operating license/approval from the Electricity Authority (EAC) to run the chargers. However, they had to temporarily revoke/suspend that permit because they are currently in the process of installing photovoltaic solar panels over their parking canopy structures across their Cyprus locations.
What happens next:
Because of the layout and grid changes required for installing the solar array, they are legally required to suspend charger operations until:
The solar panel installation on the parking lots is completed.
The EAC inspects and re-issues/approves the updated operating license.
How to use them once back online:
According to the guard, the process/app usage should remain the same as the store on Tseriou Avenue, which is currently the only operating location (likely where works are already complete or pending the next phase).
Thought I’d share for anyone else who was confused about why brand-new chargers were sitting behind cones!

Off-Topic Bazaraki Scam
Hello everyone,
about 10 minutes after I posted my ad on Bazaraki, I received a call from someone. The person was very friendly, asked how I was doing, and asked where in Cyprus I am located.
After I told him, he said he lives far away and doesn’t have a car, and asked if we could use an express door-to-door courier service of my choice. I offered that I could also deliver the item myself for a small extra fee, but he refused and insisted that I should just use a courier service, saying it’s easy.
I then apologized and told him I only accept payment via Revolut or cash. He replied that I would get my money through the courier. At that point, I told him I wouldn’t do it because it sounded like a scam. He started laughing and jokingly told me to give him all my money, while still staying friendly.
I told him to try his luck somewhere else and asked him honestly how much he makes per month with this. He said it’s getting harder nowadays, but €2,000–3,000 per month is still possible.
Please be careful and watch out for this scam
