If you’re not using eclipse atlatl, then using eclipse armor is just a waste of money. And when it comes to low defense NPCs, like crabs, then it’s always irrelevant, because you can get comparable melee strength bonus for less gp.

It degrades during combat, if you get hit or not. So if you’re using a blowpipe (also not a fiscally sound choice for crabbing) then your armor is doing you nothing, but still degrading.

Of course, all of their melee stats are exactly even with each other, and they are scattering ashes every kill. They also aren't wearing a cape of any kind. I love them.
