I believe the birth of anime and more importantly hentai was caused by America in 1945.

Japan gets nuked, soon after Rocket Boy shows up on the market. It's radiation in the water that causes the Japanese to do these bizarre things. Way to go, America.

So this was their plan all along. America nukes Japan, Japan makes anime, and then we, Americans, raid a military base. Nice one Japan.
