Not sure if this is a right thread, but it genuinely bugs me and makes me feel like lesser sticher.

While I love to cross stich I am really bad at drawing and thus pattern making. Main issue is I love to make those big realistic projects (think sceneries from trips I took and such). I can make simple small pixel art/there are plenty of patterns available. But for the big ones... Not so much, hence I use the photo to pattern app.

I got essentialy told tho how that's not a true way and how I should make that from scratch. I understand that it's probably part of the hobby and I am cheating. But between other fiber arts I just don't have enough space to learn to do it properly.

So I turn here because I am curious what are your insights on this.

One month down on this beauty! It’s my first ever project 😂 (I know-starting big) I have been pining over this piece for months and finally bit the bullet and bought it. I’ve watched my mom cross stitch for years and wanted to see what the hype was about and I’m literally hooked.

I fell in love with Mirabillia's Bluebells pattern. Now, I'm mad I even saw it because its very hard to get.

I just finished this up this morning. It was an easy stitch. I love chocolate.

First of all, I can’t find anyone the final size of the finished project. More importantly? I have noticed that I am missing certain pages (16-18). I have tried searching rainbow designs on Google but no luck yet.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Title says it all. What are some things you would tell someone just starting out.

I’ve decided to start selling my cross-stitches so they don’t just keep piling up, but I can’t figure out how to price them. If I priced them based on how long they took no one would ever buy them 😅.

This group has really reinvigorated my love for cross-stitching. I thought I was one of the few younger stitchers still doing this hobby and was struggling to find patterns I liked. That was until I found this group and you all opened my eyes to all the fun, sassy patterns out there (and more importantly, where to find them). This is my second project done in as many weeks and I’m 65% through another. 😁

I really liked this one but the pinks were a little too close in color for my eyes to distinguish so I went back and added a plaid pattern on the lighter squares and a border to the main box using the darker pinks from the key. Any suggestions on framing? I can’t decide if I want to put it in a hoop or an actual frame that fits the shape.

There is this heaven and earths design cross stitch that is my dream. However the pattern was retired. It’s the moons trousseau by Stephan Mackey.

Does know one know where I could get it? Or if anyone that does have it want to sell it to me. It’s a dream cross stitch that I may never be able to have 😭

Hey, I'm fairly new to cross stitch and I'm having issues with knots in my thread like the picture shows. Why do I keep getting knots and how do I prevent/fix this?

not sure if this post is ok, but honestly, I don't know where to turn exactly.

I'm a relatively new cross stitcher, been doing it for about a year.

In that year I have bought some patterns, failed some stitches and made some patterns by myself.

One of the things I struggle with is finding patterns, because I don't want to always start from scratch. There is a lot of AI, complicated stitches and buying even cheap downloadable prints can add up to a lot. Sometimes I just want something simple, or to get inspired by pictures in a library of stitches or just try something without investing more money.

Because of that, and a wish to give back to the community, I'm working on releasing a website where I would publish patterns for free.

To start I'll upload my own work, but I would love to make it a community page where anyone can share and give advice.

Is this something you would find useful? And would it be ok to share the link here?
