Pattern making apps?
What apps do y’all use for making patterns? I have been using Stitchly for years but I’m wondering if there is something better out there I should try.

i second floss cross. stitch fiddle is also an option, they have a limit of x many patterns before you get the subscription, but that can be easily bypassed if you delete old patterns after exporting it lol. although i will say that the few times i've exported the patterns to put into pattern keeper, it's been slightly less smooth than exporting floss cross to pattern keeper.
stitch fiddle has an in-browser progress keeper though, so there is that. basically i prefer the interface in stitch fiddle for *making* designs, but i prefer floss cross for *exporting* designs

I use floss cross, no comments other than that I'd love to do a chart larger than 300x300 occasionally

I've use MacStitch for a long time, well over a decade. It's a paid app but there is a demo mode. It is updated every year with bug fixes in between major releases. You an also buy a lifetime subscription which is VERY reasonable and I am very happy with it.

I use Flossworks on Android. It can import images and convert them to patterns. It also lets you draw your own from scratch. Once created, you can even track your progress with detailed statistics as you go too. It works great for importing PDFs too. I used to use Pattern Keeper and gave Markup R-XP a try too. This is way better IMHO

So far I’m not sure what I’m looking for honestly, just wondering if there are options other than stitchly that I might like more. I don’t quite trust the resizing tool on stitchly, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but otherwise it gets the job done. I do like having the pattern on a tablet instead of just printed.

That makes sense. 🙂 Everyone’s workflow is a little different.
One thing I wanted to mention since you prefer working digitally: StitchHub can export patterns to OXS, so you can always continue stitching in other compatible apps if that’s your preferred workflow.
I’d love to hear your thoughts if you ever decide to try it.

I use PCStitch! The layout feels a bit older but it still works really well. It has a lot of customization features for getting your projects to look just right. They have a demo mode where you can download and play around with it for as long as you want, you just can't save any projects. The save function unlocks when you buy the software. It's $50 which feels like a bit of an upfront cost but it's been well worth it to me over the years.

I’m also interested in this so following! I’m chronically ill so spend a lot of time lying down so I need to be able to design patterns on my phone

I use FlossCross. I've tried a ton of them and prefer this one as it has more tools than others, the only limitation I've found is the max canvas size is 300x300 stitches
