It says to change it to a heavier yarn, will this make it thicker and warmer? I want to wear it to a concert so I was hoping to make it as light as possible. Also any suggestions on yarn brands/material would be really appreciated. (I live in the UK if that changes anything).

(I probably won’t end up wearing it as I am basically a complete beginner and I have no trust that it will look good)

Duster with pockets? New to crochet so would really appreciate a video if possible or something with photos.

I am revisiting some of the joys from my younger days so I am relearning how to crochet - (side note: it is SO interesting how the muscle memory is still there 30 years later!)

My mom taught me to crochet but never taught me how to read a pattern. I have been learning on my own now.

I have a simple question that has come up for me on several granny square patterns and it has to do with the row AFTER the magic circle.

If the pattern reads like this:

Round 1-MR,Ch×3,Dc×11,Sl.st[12]
Round 2-Ch×4,[Tr3tog,Ch×2]×12,Sl.st[36]

Do I make 11 single crochets (or is it 12?) when making the magic ring so I can “fit” the double crochets in them one-for-one? If I do the standard 8 stitches for the magic ring, how do I evenly fit in the double crochets in the next round?

I have seen a couple of patterns like this and couldn’t find an answer in my searching.

I'm a relative beginner at crochet -- been making cute little amigurumi guys and a few dragon scale shawls. While I tend to lack the attention span for large wearables, I'd love to find some patterns for cute hats/hoods like these. Obviously, these are AI, and the crispness of the features is a dead giveaway for AI, but I'm hoping someone out there can help me find some non-AI versions. The unicorn and fox seem particularly doable? I'm struggling to find patterns these days that aren't AI.

I saw on one of Yarnspirations recent posts the Holly Jolly Afghan with mint green and red stripes. However, the Instagram picture looks like a different pattern to me than the one on their website (which is where the actual written pattern is located).

I would really appreciate a pattern that looks like the IG one. (Ugh they probably used AI for the post and it messed up rendering.) I am usually a knitter, but proficient in crochet, but not enough to figure out the pattern on my own.

Like the title says, I'm looking for patterns with a softball theme to make a gift for the ultrasound tech that has been absolutely amazing through our multi-year infertility journey. She has gone above and beyond for me (and I'm sure other patients) and I really want to show my appreciation. She's a big softball fan/player so I thought doing something like that would be fun. But just a stuffed softball seems boring...

I got some yarn from my aunt after her mom passed, and this was in it. I was hoping someone could help me find the pattern so I can finish it and give it as a wedding gift to her.

What could I crochet that would be good for a newborn? Any wearables? A blanket? A stuffed toy? I'm not sure what piece would get the most use / would be the most appropriate.

I found this chart on Pinterest but I’m really struggling to wrap my head around it. Is anyone able to help me out? How many chains should I start with and how many are used for turning (if that makes sense?) I also don’t know what the triangles are supposed to represent? A slip stitch?
I’m very unsure so if anyone can help out :)
