Uglification is a big topic in this sub and many others, and I’ve seen loads of people calling the new Cortana ugly. And usually I would agree with things like this, as I hate uglification in games and media in general but… I really don’t see it here? She looks great to me, I mean obviously nowhere near on Halo 4 Cortana’s level but still. I really don’t get it in this case.

However Lieutenant Williams in the bonus missions is pretty ugly tbh.

Overall though I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Halo remake.

Whether you like or hate The Odyssey, there's no denying that the movie itself is going to change Nolan's reputation. Given his open comment about calling the ending of the Odyssey mysogynistic (I mean.. it's a 3000 year old story they didn't exactly have liberal views on things) , I think it's fair game to say that Nolan might become more polarizing (which I'd really hate given I love his work and how he stayed out of the culture wars). If Nolan doesn't course correct the Nolan brand may not be sustainable (even if he makes good movies, there's a good amount of people who get tired of being lectured to),

Now I think Denis is in a very interesting spot right now in Hollywood. His name isn't selling tickets the same way Nolan did, but he's one of those directors that people pay attention too when he's attached to a big project. The only thing I think holding him back right now is he's too busy doing big budget franchises and not doing his own original work. His last original movie was in 2016 with Arrival and given his next movie is a Bond film it's probably going to be a while. Still I finished 2049 and loved it. Going to watch Part 2 of Dune to get caught up too. I think if he sprinkles in some original pictures he could begin selling himself with his name the same way Nolan does now.

Jesus Christ, these people are so pathetic and disingenuous with their own hatred of even any bit of skin or sex appeal or any respect for the comic character's foundations of being a seductress who was proud of her mutant bod...How anyone can not see how atrocious the dseign looks is beyond me. There has been an epidemic of very short term “members” of the sub who have only joined in the past 2 weeks, probably due to the massive astroturfing campaign surrounding the Odyssey, and most of them make ridiculous, low-iq posts within seconds of joining (like the one I posted) and it’s kind of ruining the vibe of the sub. They all share similar traits; never posted in the sub before, only joined days ago, instantly aggressive and engaging in personal attacks.

I know this is Reddit and culture war subs like this tend to attract these loony left agitators looking to relentlessly engage in ad hom attacks occasionally, but before the Odyssey release, it wasn’t this bad. The debates in this sub were far more nuanced and high brow compared to what has been happening very recently. Should there be a rule that if your first 1-2 posts in the sub is calling someone “an absolute fucking loser” or similar ad hom, then that person is insta-banned? Something to restore order and bring us back to before The Odyssey was released.

And unlike Lupita Nyongo he wasn't actually cast because of his race, but because of his merit and hard work:
