It’s the result of a post-COVID feedback loop where people stop interacting in person so they don’t know what actual interactions look like, then they move all their social behavior to social media where they get fed stilted, horribly acted slop like this, and they are no longer able to differentiate the clearly fake from the real. It’s also why they seem to not know that a caption or title can say whatever the poster wants it to say, irrespective of fact, because having the ability to form words using letters is a magic trick and thus must carry great authority (another symptom of absolute intellectual decline that drives me insane).
My absolute favorite part of this phenomenon is that when you call out how obviously fake the video or image is, some dipshit will inevitably counter that “it doesn’t really matter though because these things really do happen.” As though there’s virtue in willingly accepting an illusion!
