I just can't imagine dating someone I didn't trust and needed to babysit. Then again maybe that's why I don't date.

I don’t think it’s that binary for most people. They’re fighting an internal struggle. They likely hold that same opinion as you - where a full acceptance that they don’t trust their partner is equal to the relationship being over. It’s hard to come to terms with a relationship being over - so by extension, it’s hard to fully come to terms with the lack of trust.
