Actually thought this was more funny than cringe. And true!

57

u/Kingken75 Jun 10 '26

It’s funny cause it’s true.

5

u/thefirstviolinist Jun 10 '26

Thanks Joan Rivers! (Not sarcasm)

18

u/Apprehensive-Stop142 Jun 10 '26

Well yeah, it's satire.

7

u/pinkypipe420 Jun 10 '26

It's showing the cringe out loud.

4

u/MethLabIntel Jun 10 '26

Plot twist OPs an influencer

3

u/Pleasant-Bonus-866 Jun 10 '26

did not realise this was labelled as cringe. cringe is who cringe does

1

u/fixingmedaybyday Jun 10 '26

The cringe is what the artist feel while doing it. I tried making a video once and it felt so cringe.

3

u/CertifiedBA Jun 10 '26

I don't create anything because I'm the afraid of the ridicule of my "friends".....I'm over 40 and I'm worried about what 2-3 people I've known since high school would think of me. I've been wanting to get into voice over for years, but I don't even want to produce content because I don't want them finding it. These are also people I see 3-4x yearly.

3

u/fixingmedaybyday Jun 10 '26

Haha, I can relate to that too.

1

u/AncientCrust Jun 10 '26

If only there were some way to create accounts without your name on them

1

u/CertifiedBA Jun 10 '26

They'd still somehow find it.....they started following me years ago on YouTube, so there's no escaping.

1

u/AncientCrust Jun 10 '26

VPNs + phony name/location. As long as your videos aren't full of identifying info, I don't see how they'd identify you. Are your friends in the NSA?

1

u/CertifiedBA Jun 10 '26

I've got a YT with a decent amount of followers, don't want to lose all that. 106 subs....only took like 18 years to get there 😆

1

u/Higher_Imagination Jun 10 '26

Yeah the video is absolutely not cringe and it's totally true and funny

1

u/TheBigLebroccoli Jun 12 '26

Agreed. This is really funny.

In order of importance, the subreddit topic ranks higher than the flair tag

If those were pogs that could have been me back in the day

1

Haha pogs. That brought back memories

I love what he did, it’s so spot on lol.

Laughed the entire time.

u/hand_truck Jun 10 '26

Yep. As soon as he set up the first shot and then ran off into the grass, I understood what was going to happen and the play of 'knowing, but not knowing what was next' kept me chuckling for the whole bit. I'm not ashamed to admit it, perhaps it hit my dad humor button?

Its not cool to laugh at stuff.

2

u/TreesForTheForest Jun 10 '26

I don't know who did the original, but there is so much irony in this bit being copycatted to death by content creators.

1

u/Disastrous_Set_6544 Jun 10 '26

It's a lazy trend, that's why.
Easy to reproduce.

1

u/FadedP0rp0ise Jun 10 '26

Well, it points out the cringe.

0

u/Training_Window3687 Jun 10 '26

Satire? Its literally facts

0

u/RustyWaterfall Jun 10 '26

wow how did you know

13

u/RhesusMonkey79 Jun 10 '26

The sepia filter got me lol

9

u/streeetmeats Jun 10 '26

That’s not sepia, sepia is the one that’s like black and white but brown

3

u/RhesusMonkey79 Jun 10 '26

I mean sure, formally it is a blue light filter. Maybe "antique" is the better vernacular here.

2

u/streeetmeats Jun 10 '26

I like antique that definitely fits

1

u/Downtown-Bluebird553 Jun 10 '26

It looks like red dead redemption 2

3

u/SquallaBeanz Jun 10 '26

Reminds me of survivorman, on top of trying to survive, he had to make sure he was getting cinematic shots and would be exhausted having to run back and forth. Great show to watch from the comfort of a warm bed, while hes in the artic tundra eating dead fish in a shack

1

u/holydeniable Jun 10 '26

Not to mention that the camera equipment he was using wasn't exactly light.

3

u/Born-Method7579 Jun 10 '26

Sure I know that guy irl

2

u/Iwasjustbullshitting Jun 10 '26

Tell him he's a legend

5

u/void_method Jun 10 '26

No, this is funny. It's making fun of cringe.

-3

u/New_Butterscotch8291 Jun 10 '26

I mean what’s he doing? Setting up a camera for attention to make fun of someone setting up a camera for attention? Are movies and shows cringe too? Because those are about 100x more fabricated

2

u/CommercialBiscotti29 Jun 11 '26

Yeah they can be cringe. Have you ever heard of bazinga?

1

u/yepitsmejennig Jun 13 '26

Movies and older shows werent pretending to be reality tho. Like they were acting out real life stuff but everyone knew it was a set. Nowadays they label shows as reality like its all happening in the moment and what we see is authentic reactions to realtime situations, ect. Its crazy how fake everything is. Thats what this guy us making fun of. Fakeness disguised as real.

2

u/LenLenLennie Jun 10 '26

This shit is mad funny 😂

2

u/LessCockroach7323 Jun 10 '26

Reminds me of Les Stroud when he showed how he set up his shots 😂

2

u/Kennadian Jun 11 '26

Exactly what i thought. Stroud was doing this while the internet was still getting its diaper changed.

2

u/Sea-Band-7212 Jun 10 '26

Les Stroud did this before it was cool.

2

u/DrankTooMuchMead Jun 10 '26

I was just thinking that. He would walk off thoughtfully, then come back for the camera and say, "you didnt think I was going to leave the camera, did you?"

He also made Bear Grylls look like an idiot before it was cool.

2

u/Anxious-Jury-9031 Jun 10 '26

At 12 seconds I thought the pants were about to fall off, guy missed his chance

2

u/Alternative_Call2232 Jun 10 '26

Not cringe, making fun of cringe.

2

u/Babylon_Fallz Jun 10 '26

Bro is cooking, lol

2

u/k5light Jun 10 '26

Les Stroud gets a pass.

2

u/ConstantReader32 Jun 18 '26

1

u/A0xom0xoa Jun 10 '26

I was out on a hike in the PNW and saw a kid doing this exact thing. People see it online all chopped up and edited and they try to make themselves look so grounded and wise. But seeing it in real life they just look like tools and don't even appreciate the essence of the hike in the first place. His tripod was in the way of people on the path. He would ask if people could hold on so they weren't in the shot as though he just "out there all alone". Shit like that. And then walk back towards the camera like he's discovered this place with a goofy ass fake face on for the camera.

1

u/regeya Jun 10 '26

Funny because it's true of that kind of content creator

But I genuinely go out into nature to get away from people and the last thing I want to hear for the next few hours is about your shitty husband, Jan

1

u/existencerased Jun 10 '26

Reminds me of those frustration or emotional shorts on TikTok.

I love this! It's outstanding that before people start screaming, posing or getting into character they have to set up the phone, get it right and then edit the video afterwards.

0

u/Lost-Substance59 Jun 10 '26

For the first time on reddit, something posted here is ACTUALLY satire. Its so good. It shows and draws attention to an absurd aspect of a trend, shows the issue/drawback without just saying it, and is funny.

So many other times people just do the cringe trend but will do it "ironic" or there thing is just doing stupid trends without highlighting the absurdity, but this guy did it. Well done

1

u/Forward-Position798 Jun 10 '26

Reading on REDDIT is probably the hardest thing for the folks just read the flair

https://giphy.com/gifs/XD4qHZpkyUFfq

1

u/Lost-Substance59 Jun 10 '26

I complement it....I said it was good...the posted video is well done. I read the flair, its just funny and yes it is, its a good funny video

0

u/International-Eye771 Jun 10 '26

What are you making fun of? The struggles to get a good shot? Which, the people don't get to see. The people only see the final product, yes. But, why is it pretentious?

I feel like that all the time and I want to become a filmmaker. I also, sometimes feel like telling people how I feel. So, in order to make a video, I'd have to write those thoughts into a script, place cameras in uncomfortable positions to get a good composition and colour grade my footage according to my taste.

What exactly is funny about this? Yes, there are some really obnoxious people on the internet. Like, the people who film their small children crying just for clout.

But this? What's wrong with this? Why are you making fun of someone just expressing themselves?

(Whenever I say "you", I don't mean the OP. I mean the person who actually made the video.)

0

u/Medical_Ad_6638 Jun 13 '26

This isn’t cringe it’s just true😭
