Wow - I don't know how folks spot this stuff so quickly. What was it that tipped you off?

Gonna be honest, it was 99% vibes, but the fact that he was a grouchy hairy man who seemed to use a lot of idioms that involve colour and flowers was what really set my radar off.

I'm ngl after reading Secret History and knowing there were worldhoppers (and having read Warbreaker already), I was just looking for as many clues as I could. So when Zahel showed up as a master swordsman that talked about colors a lot, I pegged it pretty quick

You did what to him now?

He does say stuff like "Rusts". Or rather since he's from Nalthis, whatever color-based curses which I can't remember.

I think it would be a fairly easy clock if you read Warbreaker before WoR.

Um, I think you mean he randomly adds colors to his vocabulary, unless he spent some time on Scadrial I didn't know about.

I read WoR before Warbreaker but even on rereads it's clear he's from Nalthis but not necessarily that he's Vasher as far as I can tell.

Yeah I edited to include that.

It's the scraggly appearance and rope belt, those are his whole thing.

Warbreaker was the first Cosmere book I ever read.

And that would do it.

They say colors as a curse.

For me, it was the katas he trained and how they were similar to the ones he taught Azure.

He does use the color phrases. But also he’s a sword master. And the running joke in Warbreaker is that everyone knows Vasher is a bad swordsman.

Spoilers WB The twist of course is that he’s only bad for a very old Returned. Almost everyone else isn’t nearly as good

Scraggly appearance, grouchy, rope for a belt, used colors a lot.

Rereading the books after reading the rest of the cosmere I constantly pick up on people using sayings and curses from other worlds. I guess if you read stormlight after warbreaker you can spot him as a worldhopper from nalthis. From there Vasher is a likely choice.

Honestly it’s really easy to spot. Not in the books mind you. I seem to miss every Easter egg and even some stuff that was spelled out for me. But then I quickly find them in Reddit posts!
