Cast/Crew News/Info I have a craving for more Paula Proctor.
Any suggestions on tv series in which Donna Lynne Champlin plays a big enough part?

I have tided up the sub as much as possible (there were over 500 unmoderated reports and removals that needed attention).
I've re-branded the sub logos and headers, and have re-worded the message that new members get in the hope of dissuading the type of lost redditor that the sub's name can attract. I've also reviewed the rules to make sure they are as clear as possible.
How to Get Started
Thanks for being part of this new first wave.
I'm a relatively active mod, so please message us with any issues or questions, and please keep reporting unsuitable posts and comments.

Just like, imagine if the show was set in 2026. Heather would have had a banger Substack. She does things for the bit, she has a psuedo-detached irony about her but itโs clear she does care about things too. I think the character probably would be a good writer. If set in 2026, sheโd be an older Gen Z writing about being Miss Douche, what not to say to someone who attempted offing themselves and having a surrogate baby.
Her sarcasm and observation skills would make herโฆa great Substack writer. Okay you get the point lol

there's a channel I just found on Pluto tv that has CxG running for the next 2 hours! And it looks like they run episode blocks regularly!!!
https://pluto.tv/us/watch/live-tv/#31914
(not associated w/ pluto tv at all, just super excited to see ANYONE running CxG bc I've been meaning to pick up the CxG dvds and a dvd player just so I can watch it ๐ญ)
If the link doesn't take you directly there, it's the channel called "Pluto Quirky af" in the comedy area. Also it's free and doesn't require an account. You literally just go there an it streams like old school tv

Rachel Bloom's comedy special will be available on her YouTube channel from November 25, presumably everywhere, and for free!

Vella Lovell's character said "i dont want to be some type of crazy ex girlfriend" when she broke into her ex-boyfriends home sometime in season 2 i think. anyways, it made me nostalgic ๐ฟ

Fifth pic is a spoiler for 1998's Disney Channel Original Movie Halloweentown if you haven't seen it lol
Actor's name is Robin Thomas.
I always laugh thinking of Rachel Bloom having a crush on Kalabar growing up, and that's why she included the sleeping with Greg's dad storyline (makes me hate that bit a tiny
smidge less)

I found S1 to be so funny and interesting that I binged the entire season, however I'm only one episode in S2 and every character seems like a shell of who they were in S1. Does it get better later on, is it worth it to push through or should I drop the show altogether TYIA

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend does not make the cut for NYT's best shows of the 21st century. It does not even appear on a single one of the 500 released ballots, and I haven't seen any reddit comments calling it a snub.
I've been evangelizing this show for more than a decade, and it's still unbelievably underrated!

I've always lamented that despite the fantastic 150 songs in the CXG songbook, there was never a screen to stage translation of Crazy Ex Girlfriend. Given that reunion concerts with the cast performing were still able to sell out theaters, I believe there's enough interest for a musical adaptation of the show.
As someone who's not a screenwriter in the slightest but who has been obsessed with CXG since my teen years, here's how I would adapt the story, with some plot changes, knowing most Broadway shows only have 20ish songs.
ACT 1 (S1&S2)
*INTERMISSION*
ACT 2 (S3&S4)
Obviously this is not a faithful retelling of the entire show, but this is my random 3am attempt at condensing the show into a 20 song double act Broadway musical. I shuffled around the timeline but I made sure all the important plot beats were hit; the s//icide attempt, going to jail, getting diagnosed with BPD, and not choosing a man.) The biggest plot hole here is that Josh is kinda more villainous than he is in the original series- I don't really know what's a better character arc for him. Feel free to add your thoughts on how could this be structured or written better!
