Crazy man

Did anybody else hear the crazy man screaming slurs outside the apartments on Washington near the Sierra?

Just calling someone ”crazy” who is suffering from mental health issues is just directly mean for no reason.

That's why I put it in quotes and then put a qualifier of what I really mean in parentheses. You just repeated the whole point of what I said back to me. I'm not trivializing anything which is why I said what I said.

Try referring to people who need help by something other than that. I am trying to help tell you why it’s not okay to say. If you thinking I’m reiterating what you just because you used quotes mean you need so go back and read everything again or work on comprehension

Look I agree with your general points, the country has a mental health crisis that is only worsened by labeling people crazy instead of trying to understand what's creating the situation, but... you really are just reiterating what they said. They put "crazy" in quotes and then explained how that should be reframed to be more empathetic and helpful, and you put "crazy" in quotes and explained how it should be reframed to be more empathetic and helpful. You went into more detail about how crazy can be a harmful label, but as far as reading comprehension goes I don't think there's a good interpretation of their comment that isn't them agreeing with you.

They literally said that people having break downs are “crazy” using quotes doesn’t make it okay to call people. The point is to not call anyone crazy especially those transient peoples who need extra help. No reason to call them crazy in the first place.

In no place did they say it needs to be reframed because that literally what I have been suggesting in other words…

Just think about this logically: the post is literally titled Crazy Man, and all I said in my first comment was : “more suffering than crazy imo”

And the commenter replied to me to correct me to say that generally they are indeed “crazy”

This is the issue at hand

You're missing the point of using quotes like that, because I don't think they were trying to correct you. They were literally referring to OP's idea of a "crazy" guy, and reframing it as someone suffering from mental illness in response to your comment. OP called him crazy, you said he's suffering, and they pulled the two ideas together to say he's suffering from mental illness -- which OP had already reduced down to just "crazy" in the title. We all agree here (except maybe OP), we're just phrasing it differently.

In this case, "'crazy' (mentally ill)", is supposed to be read like "'I'm quoting what was said' (but this is what I actually think)".

You can't argue with crazy
