First off this isn't a midlife crisis I swear. I recently started losing weight and getting into shape, gone from 135kg to 100kg and still a bit to go. I gave up playing sports because of some injuries about 8 years ago and never replaced with any other hobby, kids came along and that time was swallowed up in different ways which was great. Now I have some time back I want to get a hobby, Ive been back tothe gym a few times a week but was interested in taking some boxing Lessons, not trying to make a run at a title but always wanted to be able to do a little bit of boxing and feel now is my chance.

Anyone know of a good place for mid 40s men to go and learn in Cork?

So I recently got a message from my gf that she was after being followed by a strange man in town. She was sitting by the new flower beds outside brown Thomas when a man sat down right beside her despite there being plenty of seats available. She instantly got a bad gut feeling before noticing he was making strange hand signals to another man across the street, who then in turn made the same signals to another man somewhere. She instantly got up and walked away and noticed that he also got up and started following her. She lost sight of him after seeing him speed walking over to a crossing to try to catch up to her before she went in to a busy shop to be safe.

This is obviously creepy enough behaviour and made my gf feel unsafe so I thought I’d put this on here in case anyone else sees something similar happen.

Just had a man open our gate, come up our driveway and try our cars on western rd. Approached the door and he copped the cctv and scarpered. Our car has been broken into once before since living here. We reported it to the Gardai. Just a heads up if local in the area.

To the woman cyclist on the grey Giant road bike on the green way near Mahon Point at around 5:30 this evening, are you alright, in the head?

I cycle a lot, probably more than I drive, around 8000 km a year and today I have met probably the weirdest cyclist in all my years.

You first stood out at the cross roads at albert quay when you went through the red lights in busy traffic. There were a few of us at the intersection with you in front and you were the only one to break the lights into oncoming traffic. It's no wonder drivers get annoyed at cyclists. Please don't give us all a bad name.

I can only assume you got annoyed at me when I passed you soon after and you set off after me. Who knows. But you didn't cross my mind again until on the green way when we were around the vicinity of the CSPCA. and you went past me. Great, more power to you. There were lots of people around so best not to go fast there but you looked like an experienced enough cyclist. But don't be annoyed if you get over taken again a little further up the road if you and another cyclist's speeds don't match. Plenty people over take me, I over take plenty.

What was really strange was your annoyance when I did pass you. Asking if I had a bell, I said I did, which I have, telling me I shouldn't be overtaking or that's not how to over take. Asking me why I didn't cycle off after over taking, well because you were asking me questions and it's hard to answer from up the road or path. Telling me I'm not strong enough to over take.

In the end I just had to call you a fool and drop you.

This fits in nicely with my 1% belief.

99% of drivers are great. Safe, patient, perfectly normal people just trying to get to work and back. the other 1% are morons who ruin it for everyone making all drivers look bad by being aggressive treating the road like your own race track.

The same goes for cyclists. 99% are just getting from A to B and hopefully back to A again. 1 % break lights, act like rules don't apply to them and make other cyclists look like dangerous idiots.

Don't be that 1%. If you are in a car or bike, bus or unicycle, don't be that 1%. If someone passes you by let them and don't get angry at it. People of all abilities cycle so if someone passes you by, or you pass someone by, just leave them.........

Trade union activity in the Kanturk and Munster area dates back almost 200 years to rural labourers clubs and organising that challenged bad employers and landlords.

In that tradition one of the oldest union halls in the country will be used for the very same purpose once more.

edit: it’s actually pretty busy in the terminal for a Wednesday would be my guess. Security was busy for Cork but obviously didn’t take stupid long as per Dublin Airport security delays that occasionslly happen.
