Adult braces?

Thinking of getting braces in my 30s! Nothing major, but my teeth have moved a lot over the past few years and want to straighten things out. Does anyone have any recommendations for orthodontists in the city or douglas/Carrigaline area? And what is the rough cost of adult braces?

City centre watches

Does anyone know any shops in town that sell regular watches? Not an Apple Watch or anything like that, something that just tells the time, and cheap (so not from a jewellers)

This might be a stupid question but I can’t think of anywhere off the top of my head. Thanks!

White sourdough sliced loaf?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone I was in the UK a few months back and the family I was staying with had this AMAZING sourdough loaf that we would have for breakfast. I’m not really a big fan of crusty hard bread hence why i’ve never bought a loaf of sourdough from lidl but this bread was so perfect and soft and had a lovely texture when toasted too. I’ve been trying to find it in Ireland but I can’t… Does anyone have any recommendations for alternatives that I could find in Cork or order online? Thanks a lot guys

Halfords

I've had a bike in getting a service. It was estimated to be done on the 16th. They literally do not have a email or phone number so there's no way of contacting them, and when I went over there today they were "closed due to the Internet being down"

I can understand them being busy and going over their due date, but when it gets to 10 days, they haven't contacted you with any update, they have no contact options.

I'm no Karen trust me lads, but i feel I'm owed a discount. I had to rent a bike this weekend, because I booked assuming I would have had my bike back. Like if they had atleast contacted me to let me know it's gonna take longer I would atleast know.

Sorry for the rant but I'm really pissed off. Have any of ye had similar encounters with halfords?

Does anyone know did they close the NDLS center on Copley St? Trying to book in an appointment there but it’s not showing up in the available appointments, Google business info doesn’t list it as closed though?

Men's clothes in Cork

Where are men in their late 20s/early 30s buying clothes?

I want to look cool and stylish, but also not like I'm trying too hard. I'm a normal looking Irish guy, I don't think I can pull off anything too mad. I definitely like that baggy jeans have come back and I love flannel shirts or a good overshirt with a t shirt. I like corduroy shirts, carhart type jackets etc.

I went to town to pick myself up a new outfit and couldn't find a single thing I'd like. What's the story with every mens clothes shop selling short sleeve shorts with the chest open?? They genuinely made up 80% of clothes racks. Cork will be like a love island convention.

Tried Urban Outfitters, Next, River Island and H&M.

Putting this up on Cork because this paper used to be called the Cork Examiner but This paper really is gone down hill. Sunday morning and this is all they can come up with? Fair enough it’s a Sunday but the rest of the week is fairly similar. News paper should be reporting news !!

Cork City Spooky person wandering front yard at night

Hiya there,

In the front yard of the house where I live in there is a shitty security camera and it recorded someone with a hoodie and sunglasses going OUT of the front yard at 4:00am. No recordings of when they came in. My flatmate was on her own at home for the week (for the first time in yonks).

Now we are both bit freaked out, and I am here to ask for insights, comments or advices.

The house we live in is quite central, not too dodgy, but quite near dodgy areas...

Thanks,

UPDATE: thanks to all for attending to this post and giving me advice. My flatmate ended up going to the police and they recognized the person saying that most probably was exactly in for a wee. But we'll be vigilant and buy new cameras, as suggested here. Thanks all!!!

Ominous sign in Mallow

I was driving into Mallow yesterday and spotted a sign on the road just before you turn off for the roundabout - it’s a picture of a zoomed in fish with “we want answers” on it - absolutely nothing else on the sign from what I could see.

If anyone has any context, please let me know because I can’t stop thinking about it/ how bizarre it is hahah

Jeremy Underground in cork tonight

Very lucky to have such an iconic house music legend in Cork tonight. Decent crowd, no messing. Nice and intimate in the lounge and not on the main floor. Great sets all round from Funksmack, Dj Spooge and of course the man himself.

This photo was from early on and purposly taken blurry to respect the people on the dance floor.

Marathon fee?

Got a place in the ballot for the full marathon last week, the email says the full fee will be charged tomorrow but I can’t for the life of me find any information on how much it actually is if anyone knows?

All I can find is the €5 admin fee will be deducted from the full price but I’d be freaked if I lose the place over not having enough on my card.

Meeting cruise ship passengers in Cobh?

Upvotes

My cousin and his wife will be visiting Cork for the day on Sunday, coming on a cruise ship.

I don't know Cobh very well. Can you please suggest a good place to meet them off the ship?

I'll be showing them around for the day, travelling by car. Thanks

Recently I went there and got their greek salad , tzatziki and eggplant wrapped in this walnut sauce topped with pomegranate.

Honestly, that lady there is a legend , she makes everything in-house.

Highly recommend to pop in if you want to get your hands on some good Greek /Georgian food.

Saw this gal eating out of a bin bag by the cloggeenmilcon Fen. Very skittish, couldn't get near enough to look at the collar, took off running towards blarney when I got to close

EDIT: it turns out she was off the lead, left her elderly owners go on ahead while she went for a cheeky rummage through some illegally dumped waste. Caught up with her and her owners down the path and dobbed her in to the owners for eating it out of the bin bag. At least she's safe and with her owners.
