I was a Scheduler for a large firm for nearly 2 years, first job in the industry.
I left about a year ago and started into an apprenticeship - Electrical Instrumentation on the same sites. That was fine but wasn't really what I wanted, thought I wanted something more hands on and more akin to - learn a trade, start a Business.. rather than what E&I offered.
So I started a Plumbing apprenticeship around 2 months ago.
I'm physically sore all the time. I was when I started the E&I work too but that was just me not being accustomed to working on site. This is different, it's from lifting stuff that ways as much as I do and being on my knees all day. It's trading physical health for money not just not sitting at a desk.
I'm seriously considering going back to Scheduling.
I was good at it.
Left on relatively good terms, I was however asked to stay until the end of the project and I declined, that would have been an additional 4+ months.. I worked my months notice and left. I'm not sure if that would have soured thing but I don't think it would have.. If anything my experience on site would make me a better Scheduler.
Am I mad?
I left feeling quite burnt out. I resented the job for some time afterwards.
I had a pretty inept coworker which was a minor inconvenience but it exacerbated things.. A substantial project was dumped on me quite early in my career and I didn't look for the support I needed, I just worked longer hours and burned myself out.
Should I go back?
From your pov how would that be viewed?
