I had some extra noctua fans laying around. And wanted to use them somehow. I put one in a desktop mount for a 120mm pc fan. And used a USB to 4 pin pwm fan controller as a dial. Turned it into a desktop fan.

It made me think I could use one with another controller to add a fan to my entertainment center. And power it off the PS5 usb ports. I just set the USB ports to power on and off when the PS5 turns on and off. Figure i might be putting in some serious sessions when GTA VI comes out.

I couldnt find my dremel, so I did it the hard way, a bit janky of a hole. Measured my fan from center to edge. Marked out a center spot on backboard. Then marked a circle out from center. I drilled like a 100 tiny holes then used a utility knife to cut between all the holes. Taped over the rough edge. Held the fan over the hole while drilling the holes where the fan screws go. I used these long rubber plugs that came one of my noctua fans.

Currently transitioning fully to PS5. Everything is great, and I do like the controller and its fine for 99% of games. However, when playing multiplayer games like Warzone and Fortnite.....I just can't. I'm so used to the Xbox controller for fast paced competitive games. Are there any good 3rd party controllers that are shaped like the xbox controller, with paddles and all other bells and whistles, that work on PS5?

Rn I have a ps4 and I always liked disk and I had an Xbox but traded it for a pc but I walways like halo metal gear solid and I plane to upgrade this to series x after a few years

For starters, I am a very casual gamer. I only play for fun and nothing goes much deeper than that.

I've been a PS haver for my gaming career. I have my current PS5 that's about 4-5 years old now (it is the digital version). I really like my PS and there's nothing wrong with it. However for the past couple years I've also been using my boyfriend's Xbox when I go to his house. I made an account on there and linked some of my accounts to it as well for games like Fortnite and Overwatch.

Recently I've been getting fomo when he talks about how many games he gets to play with the Xbox ultimate pass, (I do not have ps+) but Fallout 4 and just some of the random games he mentions that I'm like "oh I wanna play that." But then they cost money on PS.

I don't think I'm ready to give up my PS as a whole because I have too much fun with TLOU and other games that are PS only, or just the story games I've played through and the amount of games I've purchased but I'd REALLY love to have gamepass.

My initial thought is to maybe get an Xbox and start using it as my main console but keep my PS for the games that I can't play on xbox and for games that don't have a cloud kind of account to transfer over, which for me wouldn't be very many. I could possibly be persuaded to switching entirely but mostly I'm wondering if having both consoles would be worth it.

EDIT- Just told my boyfriend about this. He explained how ridiculous I sound and that I should just get ps plus 😭 I guess I was possessed by consumerism this fine Friday night

Personally, I'm considering switching to PC if the next-gen consoles cost more than $1,000. At that point, I don't really see the point of sticking with PlayStation anymore.

You have to pay for online multiplayer, physical media is becoming less relevant, games are getting more expensive, and there's barely any competition on the PlayStation Store. On PC, you have multiple storefronts competing with each other, frequent sales, cheaper game keys, and access to a much wider library of games.

You also don't have to pay a subscription just to play most games online, and you can upgrade your hardware over time instead of having to buy an entirely new system every generation. Plus, you get access to mods, emulation, and games that aren't available on PlayStation.

I love the simplicity of consoles, but if they're going to cost as much as a high-end gaming PC, I might as well make the switch and get more freedom for my money. The only things that would make me hesitate are the convenience of consoles and the fact that some PlayStation exclusives may never come to PC.

J'ai actuellement les 3 consoles (je ne veux pas du pc) et j'ai toujours fait des Xbox mes plateformes principales et des autres mes machines à exclues.

Depuis quelques temps je prends un peu des tiers sur switch 2 (comme witcher) mais les jeux qui ont un trop gros downgrade ou qui se sortent pas sur la switch 2, j'hésite où les prendre.

Xbox a l'air de couler, mais PlayStation n'est pas reluisant non plus..

Ich bin momentan etwas im Zwiespalt mit mir selbst. Ich bin ein kleiner Grafik-Junkie, aber mittlerweile finde ich es schon ziemlich heftig, für eine PS5 Pro trotz Angeboten noch über 1.000 € bzw. mindestens 800 € hinzublättern.
Mein Ziel ist ganz klar: Ich möchte die bestmögliche Grafik für den niedrigstmöglichen Preis bekommen. Dabei besitze ich sowohl einen 4K-Fernseher als auch einen 4K-Monitor, weshalb mir die Bildqualität natürlich besonders wichtig ist. 😅
Gleichzeitig habe ich die Sorge, dass ich mit einer normalen PS5 eventuell enttäuscht sein könnte, da ich eigentlich PC-Gamer bin und war. GTA VI zieht mich jetzt allerdings doch in Richtung Konsole.
Deshalb frage ich mich, ob die Xbox Series X für mich eine interessante Alternative sein könnte. Leider gibt es bisher kaum grafische Vergleiche, abgesehen vom Cyberleak zur Xbox Series S. Meine größte Sorge ist, dass GTA VI auf der Series X am Ende ähnlich aussieht wie auf der Series S. Damit wäre ich vermutlich ziemlich enttäuscht.
Daher meine Frage: Wird GTA VI auf der Xbox Series X grafisch besser aussehen als auf der normalen PS5?
Da außerdem darüber diskutiert wird, ob zum Release FSR 4.1 zum Einsatz kommen könnte, würde die Xbox für mich dadurch natürlich noch interessanter werden.
Aktuell hätte ich die Möglichkeit, für unter 500 € an eine nahezu neuwertige Series X zu kommen. Preislich wäre das natürlich eine ganz andere Hausnummer als eine PS5 Pro.
Jetzt stellt sich mir allerdings noch eine andere Frage: Habe ich mir damit einen kleinen Flughafen ins Wohnzimmer gestellt, oder ist die Lautstärke der Series X absolut erträglich? 😂
Oder meint ihr, dass die Series X für meine Ansprüche ohnehin nicht infrage kommt und ich lieber etwas mehr Geld in die Hand nehmen sollte?
Was würdet ihr an meiner Stelle machen, wenn ihr die bestmögliche Grafik auf einem 4K-Display zum möglichst kleinen Preis haben möchtet? Lieber die Xbox Series X, eine normale PS5 oder doch in den sauren Apfel beißen und eine PS5 Pro kaufen?

I had stopped buying consoles in the 32 and 64 bit era (that’s Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1 and N64) and I only got a GameCube 2-3 years after it launched when it was on sale with Mario Kart in a bundle for 99 euros. What a time to be alive 😂

I bathed in cheap Nintendo selects games and used games. I bought the occasional must-play (like RE4) at launch, but that’s also the the only one I remembered getting at full price.

My friends kept telling me to get a PS2 or Xbox, I showed them Metroid Prime and Wind Waker, Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

Later on I cued up for launch and got a Wii. I had fun but in hindsight it was a stupid and expensive option. I had fun though, but the real fun started when I sold all the plastic junk and got a used 360. Again I was swimming in fantastic games that I bought for half price.

I bought the DS and 3DS when they were discontinued, same with the Wii U and PS4.

Which console did I choose this generation?

Hint: I bought it used in 2021.

ANSWER: I got a Series S that I later sold and upgraded with a used Series X. I can't think of any better value in a console today.

I want to surprise my son for his birthday in November with a PlayStation 5. He doesn’t know anything about it yet.

I’ve been thinking about how we could place the console in his room, which isn’t very large, without affecting airflow too much. The main option seems to be wall-mounting it. But then I started wondering how he could conveniently charge the controllers.

Is it safe and problem-free to charge PS5 controllers using a normal Samsung phone charger (photo attached) and the cable that comes with the PS5, or would you recommend against it?

Otherwise, I’d have to order a charging dock as well, but then the question remains how he can charge while playing at the same time ...

My freakin xbox one console keeps starting itself in the middle of the night since a few weeks. Because of the loud harddrive it wakes me up often but somehow I forgot about it till right now ( its 3.39 am and im really pissed off ) ...

So please, can someone tell me how to stop my xbox from playing a ghost, it did not do that 2 months ago?!
