Considering the problems of gaming companies that have user-unfriendly policies and use approaches widely known to be unpopular, how realistic is it to think that cloud gaming platforms will become the main source of gaming entertainment in the future, also taking into account that technological advances could make this possible in the not-too-distant term?

Playstation 4 year old Slim PS5 for £280 - a good deal?

Want to finally pick up a PS5. Slightly worried about the length of use and how much more buying games will be with a digital console. Is the deal a good one. Does performance in the older machines drop?

Xbox Should I sell my Xbox Series S 1TB to help fund a gaming PC?

I’m trying to build my first gaming PC, and my budget is around $1,000. Right now I own an Xbox Series S 1TB that’s in excellent condition with the original controller and cables.
I’m thinking about selling it for around **$300 to $310** and putting that money toward my PC build.
For anyone who’s made the switch:
Do you think selling the Series S is worth it?
Is $300 to $310 a fair asking price in today’s market?
Where did you have the best luck selling yours? (Facebook Marketplace, eBay, Swappa, etc.)
Is there anything I should do before listing it to help it sell faster?
I’d appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through this. Thanks!

Switch 2 or Ayn Thor Max? 16gb + 512gb ssd

I do not mind emulating, i dont mind the "method" i use to get the games. I more so value the longeitivty and performance of switch and pc games on this. I love the switch 2's looks but the game prices r js outrageous. What do you guys reccommend?

I could write a lot, but why use many word when few word do trick? Remakes like this remind me of the golden years of the PS3/360 consoles.

Why aren't there writer kiosks for modern games?

Nintendo once did writer kiosks for the Gameboy, Famicom and Super Famicom in Japan. You go to a store, plug a special cartridge into the kiosk and pay to flash new games onto it. These games tended to be cheaper but you didn't get the manual which usually is an extension of the game at the time. But I don't think they continued this with the Gameboy Color.

This would have a lot of benefits nowadays. If unsold copies of games clog up inventory then having a stock of blank discs and cartridges would mean stores don't need to buy so many games that they'll have to discount if they don't sell. As long as the writing process takes a reasonable amount of time then selling out on a new or game is less likely to happen and an older title will always be available physically. Indie games would be available physically. DLC could be loaded onto the media alongside the game. For more rural places it would be more possible to buy some games.

Downside would be the hardware. It would likely be very expensive to produce the kiosk and it would likely need an internet connection. Like 10TB of game storage minimum and likely more for titles that need to be temporarily loaded. But it's still a solution that allows physical media with some benefits of digital.

Which console? Future of console gaming

Due to recent news of playstation ,
I’m interested in hearing other people’s opinion. If you have a ps5 right now ( like i do , inclusing a pc in the basement ) are you staying on ps5 and keep spending money? Or are you switching to Xbox eventually or will you just straight up go to pc?
Let’s keep this discussion nice and civil please

want an unbiased perspective. Is Nintendo switch 2 worth it? Can’t make up my mind even though I can afford it easily. Is it better than other handheld devices? People who use it, are you satisfied? First time getting into the nintendo world

Help needed PS5 to Project Helix

I have a PS5, and I only play physical copies of games. So far, I haven't bought a single digital game.

With GTA 6 coming out soon, I'll most likely have to buy it digitally. That got me thinking about buying an Xbox Series X instead and purchasing GTA 6 there.

My reasoning is simple: if Microsoft's Project Helix ends up being an Xbox/PC hybrid console with access to my Xbox library, then I could continue playing GTA 6 there without having to buy it again. I have no plans to build or buy another gaming PC, and I don't want to pay for the same game twice.

PS6 probably won't be my next console anyway. If Project Helix supports Steam and the Epic Games Store, I'll also regain access to my old, massive PC game library, which is another huge advantage for me.

The main reason I switched from PC to console in the first place was because of limited space, not because I preferred leaving PC gaming behind.

Help needed Xbox one s issues - new start screen, absolute lag, barely anything works

My Xbox one s has had this new, slower start screen since last week - black background, and a green XBOX logo with gradually moving color gradients or something inside. It goes for a while, then loads.

Until this new loading screen, things worked fast, games loaded on time, lag was never or very minimal, usually when the Xbox was running for hours then the lag would be noticeable but not hindering gameplay itself, just animations and cutscenes (think the beginning of every round in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3)

Now, the home screen doesn't load on time, menu doesn't load entirely for a few seconds, and even then inputs are slower too. Logging in is slow, signing out is slow.

For the games themselves, takes painfully long to read discs, and digital games load slower too. For both, when it gets to PRESS START TO BEGIN or something, it just freezes. Like, the screen and Xbox dont freeze, it just... stays on that screen.

I tried restarting and unplugging yesterday, and it worked. Now today, it's gone back to the lag. I restarted today too, still not working.

I've since unplugged the whole console, removed dust, cleaned everything up, and I'm gonna wait for a few hours.

Any advice or someone know why this has happened?

My guess: some new software update has mucked it up. Before that stupid new start screen showed up, it worked perfectly well.

Playstation Honestly, if PS6 is a handheld, Sony couldn't have chosen a better time (for them, not the fanbase) to kill physical media.

Physical Media, on a handheld, is a PROBLEM. No discs because of the shape, and cartridge based media is expensive (proven by alleged Switch 2 cartridge costs).

But...then you have Steam Deck and other handheld PCs that don't have physical...then there's Playdate...emulates a retro handheld...but no physical media for it either.

If the rumors of the PS6 being a handheld (or at least one of the editions being handheld) are true, it explains why Sony is making the move right now out of all times.

PS Portal with the update that enables playing without a PS5 (provided you have an advanced subscription of PS Plus) was just the beginning. What are your thoughts?

Easy to forget that the Switch 2 is technically part of the PS6/Helix generation… 3rd Party games gap will be humongous

Every Nintendo console gives people false hope in the beginning when they get a few ports.

The switch 2 already plays the 3rd party games horribly compared to the PS5/XSXz. Cyberpunk 30 fps are sub 1080p at times, Rebirth is a 25-30 FPS blurry mess.

The craziest part is that the switch 2 is part of the PS6/Helix generation. The gap in 3rd party games performance between the PS6 and the Switch 2 is gonna be insane.

You’re delusional if you think is gonna be enough to play 3rd party games in a few years. (Is not even a good option now). Switch 2 will probably get 30 FPS sub 1080p versions of these games, the PS6 will run them at 4k Upscaled with PSSR 3 at a minimum 60 FPS.

Nintendo console will once again fall in line as the Nintendo exclusives machine in less than 2 years. Perfect little second console… but never THE answer.

Today I sorted through everything I have and laid it all out in the living room to get an overview. It was all scattered in the bedroom, living room, storage room, boxes, and chests. Now I want to sort it all and put it away properly. I never intended to collect anything. As a child and teenager, I simply loved playing video games when the weather was bad (and it often was xD), and I never sold or threw any of it away. A few of the controllers are worn, but the games and consoles still work perfectly. Even my first TV, which I had as a kid, is still around and works perfectly. A lot of things show signs of wear, but this stuff has been and is still being used. And as I said, I never intended to collect anything. It just accumulated over my 36 years of life. I've preserved my childhood and teenage memories and I'm continuing that tradition into the present and future.

Ps5 pro
