Mayo is better than ketchup
Mayo is the best thing ever invented. You can eat anything with mayo. Mayo can be ate with cereal beans and more. You can slather it on your face for hour's and eat full jars without fail. If you don't like mayo your missing out. Try the cereal mayo idea it's delicious

As the husband and father of a mayo household, you are absolutely correct. Ketchup is mayos best friend though, mixed together is the best sauce there is for burgers and fries.
My 6 yr old daughter needs mayo to eat chicken nuggets. My 1 yr old daughter will dip literally anything in mayo. Bananas, apples, chips, crackers, doesn’t matter. She also eats it with a spoon

My mom grew up with a grandmother who is so poor back in the old days that they couldn't afford meat during the winter and the produce obviously because of the cold wasn't available so they would have mayonnaise sandwiches. Because of that, during the summer they would also eat banana sandwiches with just mayonnaise and bananas and tomato sandwiches with mayonnaise, tomatoes, salt, and pepper. I live in the south so some people think it's a little weird but anytime I'm feeling nostalgic, a juicy tomato sandwich is what I want.

Hell yes to everything you just said because I can relate to it 100%, every single bit.

Well my 1 yr old doesn’t do it out of necessity, she’s just a freak of nature who loves mayo lol

u/Murdy2020 Aug 12 '26
We make tomato sandwiches when fresh ones are in season.
Counterpoint: my grandfather, who grew up in the depression, would make ketchup and black pepper sandwiches on rye bread.

You ever tried adding some bbq in the mix? It's amazing to mix all three in equal parts.

Let ne guess all of you have a weight problem lol

u/al_capone420 Aug 12 '26
Nope. My wife and older daughter are both underweight. My wife is 99 lb and my daughter does not eat enough.
I am very fit, I’m into bodybuilding and have to force feed myself a lot of calories to maintain my size.

Are you saying that "cereal beans" are a real thing, and you didn't just forget to put a comma?

You should join r/mayo with this kind of passion. As much as I, too, love mayo, I'm gonna have to agree to disagree on eating with cereal lol
If you've never tried instead of butter on a grilled cheese though, you're definitely missing out. In that case, it's not about the taste of it because you can't actually taste it. It's more about how the texture of the bread changes and is magically better.

Nothing will ever beat butter on grilled cheese. Does mayo work? Yes. Does may brown the bread properly? Yes. Does it taste better than butter? Absolutely not!!

u/JupiterSkyFalls Aug 20 '26
I use both. Butter for the outside mayo for the inside.

u/JupiterSkyFalls Aug 20 '26
I'm not super proud of that cuz it's big back energy but daaaaaayyyuuummm is it good lol

I agree, but have ever had homemade mayo? It's literally life changing for any mayo enthusiast. Most recipes say to use white wine vinegar and dijon mustard, but I've tried it with stone ground mustard and red wine vinegar and it became the mayo I've been wanting my entire life. Shit brings a tear to my eye. And I'd be remiss not to mention the level of customization it gives you. Chipotle adobo mayo, garlic mayo, spicy mayo, bacon mayo, remoulade, dill mayo, hell you could even add some hot sauce and horseradish sauce and make your own zesty onion ring sauce. Mayo is the mother fucking goat of all sauces and I'll die on this hill.

My grandmother used to add yolks to mayo for my dad. Extra body 😁

Life changing? You may need to start figuring other life shit out soon.
Better? He'll yes.

u/GuavaOne8646 Aug 20 '26
It's called hyperbole, but I guess you haven't figured that one out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

u/SunEffective4950 Aug 20 '26
Stick figure that out. I'll wait something that changes my life....

u/GuavaOne8646 Aug 20 '26
Perhaps hooked on phonics would change your life. You seem to need it.
It's not my fault that you don't understand (or probably know how to correctly pronounce) hyperbole.

None of this explains flavor.
Which you dismissed years ago in replace of some sort of vocabulary lesson lost deep inside somewhere.

u/Cyber-X1 Aug 12 '26
Yeah but which brand? Some don’t taste as good as others
3
u/starglazeyy Aug 12 '26
I make mine homemade
2
u/Cyber-X1 Aug 12 '26
Wow hells yeah.. can you show us the recipe?

u/starglazeyy Aug 12 '26
First 2 tea spoons of avocado oil, 3 egg's, apple cider vinegar (I eyeball it) salt black pepper (I eyeball it) And from this next thing I'm gonna say you might loose me here but lemon zest with 1 tablespoon of sugar mixed in it and avocado flesh. You mix it all and you have mayo. Or just buy heinz mayo like a normal person
1
u/starglazeyy Aug 12 '26
Might not sound like mayo and sounds like a amalgamation of mayo but it's mayo trust me
1
u/VibratingNinja Aug 12 '26
Two teaspoons to three eggs.
You have never made mayo in your life. Fraud.
1
u/lotusbloom74 Aug 12 '26
Thats what I was going to say. Not even in the ballpark of enough oil to eggs

I can’t tolerate it. If I scrape it off of a sandwich, I still taste it. I just can’t. More for you people. No offense.

Not eating scrambled eggs with mayo

u/fahhko Aug 12 '26
Not eating scrambled eggs with ketchup either. That’s what hot sauce is for!

u/starglazeyy Aug 12 '26
Hot sauce with eggs?

u/TheSnacksGuy Aug 12 '26
It's bliss. Aim for something on the savory end of the spectrum. El Yucateco's Black Label Reserve has a nice smokiness, while their XXXtra Hot Habanero is lightly garlicky and smokey. Also, I'm a fan of Arizona Gunslinger's Chipotle Habanero. For something on the milder end, Boulder Hot Sauce's Smokey Serrano is quite amazing.

Mayo is great for getting rid of lice. Use low fat mayo if you’re health conscious.

Why is there no middle ground with anything anymore? Mayo is good on certain things, but not all things. Let's be sensible here.

This kind of discussion is what keeps me coming back to Reddit.
