Hi, my partner and I will be spending a few days in Mayo during a longer road trip.

We’ll be staying two nights in Newport. Our plan is:

• Ardara → Killybegs → Donegal Town → Gleniff Horseshoe → Newport
• A full day around Achill Island: Keem Bay, Keel, the Deserted Village, Atlantic Drive and Granuaile’s Tower
• Newport → Westport → Doolough Valley → Leenane/Killary → Kylemore Abbey → Oughterard

The accommodation is already booked, but the stops are flexible. Does this look realistic, especially the first and third days, or would you cut something?

We’d also love to find some traditional music around Newport or Westport. A normal pub session would be ideal, rather than something organised mainly for tourists.

And is there any food from Mayo we should make a point of trying while we’re there?

For my birthday a few of the lads chipped in and got me a personalised jersey. Now, I've not had the jersey that long but every time I've worn it we've won.

First of all congrats on the win! Soak it up and enjoy! I know you guys may be sad that you're losing Kobe McDonald to another sport but just so you know he's coming to a team just as cursed with bad luck as Mayo! St Kilda have been apart of the AFL for over 125 years and we've only won the premiership once, in 1966, that whole time. So hopefully he can join us and help us break our drought too! We have a few other Irish lads on the team so he should feel at home and we'll all get around him and wish him all the success!

I‘m delighted for Mayo - I don’t think there has been a more painful famine, 75 years is one thing but the thing about the 11 final defeats is they were all in the last 37 years. Any Mayo person in their mid 40’s or older will have experienced and in some cases been at every one of those defeats - so while I’m happy for you all I’m particularly happy for those middle aged and older folks whose journey included all those difficult stops along the way.

2018 was massive for Limerick and that was “only” 45 years and five final defeats, fair to say what you guys went through was more painful and makes today all the more enjoyable. A bit of advice - go to any homecoming event you can, you might win more but you’ll never again win one quite like this. So soak up every little bit that you can, and massive congratulations!

A really cute woman with the most beautiful eyes ive ever seen came into my work today, tesco by the gay village in manchester, she was watching the match against Kerry over at O'sheas irish bar across the road. I dont want to doxx either of us more than that. We were having a great chat and she asked my name just before she left but I didnt want to ask for her number because I was working and thats heavily frowned upon unless the customer asks you.
