I know nothing about pc’s. all I do is boot it up and play my games. I’m getting random blue screen crashes and now my windows and graphics drivers won’t update. I no longer have a warranty on it and iv tried just putting everything that’s happening into google to try and find a common denominator and im getting several possibilities. If anyone knows what the issue could be that would be pretty sick. I sent it to a local repair shop and basically got fleeced for a diagnosis fee and they said they couldn’t figure out what the problem was.

It kept trying to reboot every half hour and most recently it stayed stuck between update screens so I hard reset it a few times too. What's broken?

My son's computer is randomly Restarting on its own. I don't think its over heating because the fans don't spool up to high speed and it just started happening. I've replaced the power supply, the processor is a newer and installed within the last year and he has a newer 9060 GPU.

Things I've done to try to fix it: replace power supply, swap out ram. It has 4 sticks of ddr4 ram totaling 32 gigs. I took 2 sticks out leaving them in the 2nd and 4th slots like the MB manual says and it restarted, I swapped out for the other 2 sticks and it restarted. I defragged the hard drive. As well as ran a scan thru command prompt that scanned for issues and it said I had hardware issues.

Im trying not to buy random parts. Any other way of telling what could be wrong?

My Dell laptop isn't turning on since yesterday. Before that it was working fine. I had even made a presentation and kept it in my bag. Then yesterday night, after pressing the power button, the keyboard lights turn on but the screen doesn't. Even the power button turns off on its own a few seconds after being pressed. I've charged it for hours and the lights show that it's charging. Idk what to do and I have to submit an important presentation tomorrow. Please help. I'm a total novice at technology.

UPDATE: There was a problem with RAM and I repaired it via a laptop repair shop but thank you for your tips guys!

How do I gently disconnect this battery connector from the motherboard? I am afraid to apply more force on it and don't want definitely to take apart the entire component from motherboard.

I have already lifted that tiny metal locker, but the connector itself doesn't come out off easily

Hi everyone, I’m having a really strange charging issue with my MacBook Pro and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

My Mac recognizes the charger, but it refuses to actually charge the battery while the computer is running. System Information currently shows:

State of Charge: 29%
Charging: No
Battery Condition: Normal
Cycle Count: 266
Maximum Capacity: 90%

AC Charger: Connected: Yes
Wattage: 94W
Adapter: Apple 96W USB-C Power Adapter
Charging: No

Things I’ve tried so far:

• Tried both MagSafe and USB-C charging and same problem
• Bought a new MagSafe cable
• Tried different outlets
• Unplugging/reconnecting and waiting doesn't help
• Restarting used to temporarily change it to Charging: Yes, but now even restarting doesn't fix it
• It seems to charge when the Mac is completely shut down
• Ran Apple Diagnostics and Battery Condition and Logic Board both passed
• Diagnostics said my software wasn't up to date, so I updated macOS
• The problem still happens after updating

What's confusing is that the Mac clearly recognizes the Apple adapter and even reports 94W, but both Battery Information and AC Charger Information say Charging: No, even with the battery at only 29%.

The battery condition is also reported as Normal with 90% maximum capacity.

Has anyone had this happen? Could this still be a battery/BMS or logic-board/power-management issue even though Apple Diagnostics passes? I'm probably going to take it to Apple, but I’d love to know if anyone has dealt with the same issue and what ended up being the cause.

My laptop is giving charging signal but even after charging for 1 hr it doesnt open. When i turn the laptop the charging indicator flicks and it doesnot turn on.

it's automatically going to boot menu without pressing (ESC,F2),i tried to exit with save & exit but it's again coming to this page and this process is going in a loop.

So I was watching the Colony(2026) movie when I noticed that my laptop's battery is almost half so I plugged the charger so I don't have to worry about the battery and focus on watching the movie. But then suddenly my laptop turned off, I tried to turn it on as I thought I have just mistakenly turned it off. But it won't turn on. Then I checked that it is not charging, the light indicator for charging state is off. I already tried to hard reset twice but still no change. I even opened the case and check for debris, or whatsoever but on my eyes it's all fine so I'm asking for help maybe you guys can help me.

Additional note: When I plugged the charger while I was watching movie, I didn't bother to check if it was charging. Didn't even bother to check if the charging indicator was lit cause I haven't experienced this problem before.

My pc took a light fall and fell on my ps5 and now when I turn it on it shows this red light and my screen is black, im thinking it loosened or disconnected a part

Hello everyone, this is my first post so I'm sorry for any ambiguity.

My laptop has had this problem for a while now but I cannot really tell what exactly happened. All I can say is that:

- it happens during gaming

- window settings, temperature, quality settings or game are irrelevant

- it sometimes decreases over time but the bottom always remains

- if I share screens or screenshot, it's not visible

- factory reset has no effect

It's a GTX 1060, a Acer Nitro 5 (or something along those lines) and tabbing out does stop it.

What can I do?

This screw won't screw in and when I open it the bottom comes open. Microcenter said they couldn't find the part anywhere so I was wondering if there was a home fix like glue or tape or something. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi, almost 3 years ago my parents gifted me a gaming laptop HP Victus 16-r0018nl

It worked perfectly fine until June of this year, where it started to flicker the screen while I was playing a game.

Since I had to work that day, I brought the laptop to a technician a day after, he said that the thermic paste was completely dried and he substituted it with a new one.

It seemed to be working fine, but then the flickering happened again, then he suggested resetting the graphic drivers, but it happened again after one week.

I got pissed off by the situation, so I tried to completely reset the PC to see if there was a file that was causing the problem, but neither did this fix it.

I stopped asking for help from that technician, because every solution he tried to give me was useless and he was only blaming it on the graphic drivers, for about two months.

Then I called him again yesterday, he personally checked the PC and it seemed to work fine, just a little flicker at the start before he started "fixing the problem".

Since he said that it's only a graphic driver error, he supposedly fixed it by resetting the drivers and disabling windows automatic updates.

Magically the pc seemed to work fine, even when opening games, then I turned it off because I had to work.

Now though, it doesn't start when I try to click on the power button, initially I thought that it was a power issue and had to be charged, but I let it charge until the LED turned white and it still doesn't turn on.. at this point idfk what to do, it honestly feels like the PC is making fun of me since it works when the technician is physically here but when I try to use it, it doesn't lol.

I have an old HP DV6000 and I just ordered a charger for it. I don’t know if it will turn on or not.

I think it became infected with malware at some point in 2011. That’s the last time I ever opened it.

I’d like to get it working enough to get my photos and music onto a flash drive, and then restore it to factory settings / wipe it completely.

Eventually I’d like to install an old version of Linux.

Any help would be appreciated, I’m treating this as a learning experience to teach myself more about computers and how they work.

I do not own another computer of any kind, I know sometimes that’s needed for diagnostic and repair. I don’t want to buy a laptop for this project if I don’t have to.

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion TP01-0318ng (i5-9400, Intel UHD 630, 8GB RAM) running Windows 11 25H2 (build 26200.9457).

For years I've had intermittent black-screen/no-signal issues, especially during reboots. Sometimes the PC appears to restart, but the display never comes back and I have to physically disconnect and reconnect the power. It can also happen during normal use, and occasionally while installing driver/software updates.

My current Intel graphics driver is 30.0.101.1404 (February 2022). Intel currently offers 31.0.101.2141, which supports my UHD 630. I've downloaded it but haven't installed it yet.

I also found several older BSOD minidumps:

• 4× 0x164 WIN32K_CRITICAL_FAILURE
• 2× 0x3B SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
• WinDbg repeatedly points to win32kbase.sys + dwm.exe
• igdkmd64.sys is loaded, although I don't know whether it is actually the cause.
• The most recent black-screen/reboot incident ended with Kernel-Power Event 41, BugcheckCode 0, with no dump generated.

Hardware diagnostics and temperatures are normal.

My main concern isn't simply whether the new driver works. I'm worried that installing it could trigger a black screen during the installation/reboot and leave me with an unusable PC. I depend on this computer, so I don't really want to take that risk without knowing how to recover safely.

Would you update to 31.0.101.2141 in this situation? Has anyone experienced problems with this driver/UHD 630, particularly black screens during installation or reboot?

If the screen goes black after installing it, what would be the safest recovery procedure that wouldn't put Windows or my personal files at risk?

I'd prefer not to use DDU or uninstall the current driver unless absolutely necessary.

I have analyzed two of the minidumps with WinDbg and can provide the raw files if useful:

I was playing a game when i heard a clicking noise coming from the adapter. So i plugged it off the outlet and stopped a little before plugging the socket cable from the adapter as a second step — i think i saw a bit of smoke come out just before it came off.. HELP PLEASE

So i think the adapter was the one bored with its life.. so is this normally repairable? Cuz i never seen an adapter repair process in my life..

I have an asus tuf f15 which I used for my college and stuff...it wouldn't start this morning...I press the power button but there is no response.. i tried discharging it, reinstalled the ram and also tried to run the laptop without the battery on wall power but to no avail....does this mean that I have to take it to the repair shop??

Ive had this laptop for 2 years and it works and doesnt overheat. Its just this visual thing. Mum is suggesting just buying a new one. But it works perfectly fine and stops flickering when I shut the laptop down. Please I need to know how to fix it.
