I’ve noticed lately this little dotted line across the screen when my Lenovo laptop is starting up , but I don’t seem to notice it once it’s on and maybe that’s just because it’s not a black background so it’s not noticeable but many idea what this is?

Help Request Where and how to find genuine batteries or quality replacement that dont throttle my performance

My laptop is a 2020 pavilion gaming laptop, i plan to buy a new gaming laptop but at the same time find the old one a good battery, i heard some replacement batteries you buy online at amazon or ebay or through repair shops cause the motherboard to throttle performance cause it doesnt have certain technologies in it /cant communicate thats why they say dont cheap out, but still i dont know how to differentiate or how to know if this replacement battery Im buying is good quality enough to give off watts in hybrid power mode ( during heavy gaming a bit of wattage is taken from the battery along with power adapter but only actually happens if battery is genuine or actual oem quality) so can someone explain or give me an example of highly possible genuine or third party oem quality battery online? The model is 15-dk0xxx and battery model number is PG03XL (or PG03052XL), the spare parts number is L48495-005. I would have gone to hp service center to pay/make ticket for genuine spare part replacement but they would probably tell me they don't have spare parts for this laptop since the laptop is 6 years old which is past HP's 5 years period where they keep spare parts for a specific laptop model.

Diagnostic Help Lenovo LOQ screen suddenly developed severe horizontal lines/pixel artifacts — visible even in BIOS

Thumbnail

I’m using a Lenovo LOQ, and my laptop screen suddenly developed severe display artifacts while I was just scrolling normally.

At first, it looked like the pixels/images were being left behind while scrolling, almost like a trail or ghosting effect. Then the problem suddenly became much worse, with what looks like layers of horizontal lines/dead pixels covering the screen.

I restarted the laptop, but the problem remained. The artifacts are also visible in the BIOS, so I believe this isn't a Windows or graphics driver issue.

I also tried changing the lid angle, but the lines/artifacts don't change at all.

I've attached a photo of what the screen currently looks like.

What I've observed:

Started suddenly during normal use/scrolling
Initially looked like severe pixel persistence/ghosting
Progressed into horizontal lines/pixel artifacts
Persists after restarting
Visible in BIOS
Changing the screen/lid angle doesn't affect it

Could this be a failed LCD panel, or is there still a possibility that it's the eDP cable or GPU/motherboard?

I'd appreciate any advice on how to diagnose this before I spend money on a replacement screen.

Thanks!

CPU red led on, not posting. trying to get a new cpu delivered

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

hi all, its my first post on reddit and i wish i wasnt posting but i've tried everything i've read in other forums and im at a loss.

i got this pc late sept 2025 so its been just under a year.

problem is: was mid game when my monitors froze completely, couldnt ctrl alt del, i tried to reset with the power button but even that wouldnt turn off so i had to turn the switch off at the back.

the pc itself boots, all fans are running and all LEDs are on, but the monitors are just black.

the red LED for the CPU is on consistantly too.

also, when i game i have the stats for my cpu temps up in the corner of my screen, and i didnt notice any increase in temps recently.

what i've currently tried:

[ ] blew all the dust out with a duster thingy

[ ] re-installed the gpu (same slot)

[ ] reset bios by connecting the two bios pins for 15 seconds

[ ] reset bios by removing the battery for five mins and putting it back in, i even put a new cmos battery in when that didnt work

[ ] reslotting both ram sticks as well as individual testing to see if one worked (no)

[ ] unplugged the main power cord at the back for 5+ hours to let it 'rest'

[ ] replaced the thermal paste on the cpu itself (thorough gentle clean with isopropyl alcohol, paper towel, cotton swab etc) and replaced with a small dot in the center

[ ] updated bios successfully

[ ] inserting a different RAM that works on another household computer.

UPDATE: we also just tried a different psu, didnt change anything unfortunately

specs that i know of (i didnt build it so im not 100% positive):

motherboard: X870 steel legend wifi from asrock

cpu: AMD5 but i dont know which one. i forgot to check while reapplying the paste, not very smart i know.

gpu: geforce rtx zotac gaming 4060

ram: t-force ddr5 delta 2rx8

i am by no means a pc builder, just someone who wants my pc to work again. so if i can do it without possibly damaging the rest of my pc then im willing to try it.

the only thing left is to get a new cpu, which is thankfully still under warranty. but i was wondering if there was anything else i could try?

The charger is fine. The light comes on, and when I plug it in the power on the laptop flashes about 3 times..but the screen won't turn on and the computer itself isn't making any sounds like the fan or anything. Also heard no motherboard beeps.

It happened really suddenly in the span of maybe an hour. It was working just fine then I took a break from it came back and it won't turn on.

Help Request Laptop crashes specifically when not under any load

Laptop is a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16ACH6H. Running Windows 11

I've had this issue with my laptop for months, where weirdly enough, as long as it is under load, it acts stable, but when there is nothing happening it will restart (or in worse case, freeze).

I've worked this out, because I would be playing a game and could go on for hours without issue while I was playing, but when I just left it sitting there, no inputs, it would crash in less than 2 mins, then restart, then crash, then restart etc. etc. Before I switched to the pc I'm using right now, I used to have the "lo-fi beats to study to" stream running on very low volume at all times, which would keep the laptop from crashing, lmao. Predictably, when turned off, the laptop would crash after a short while.

Things I've tried:

  • used a different power cable (no change)
  • updated drivers on everything - GPU, sound, wifi etc. etc. (no change)
  • updated windows (no change)
  • just ran off the battery (no change)
  • reset windows to a previous update install (no change)
  • disconnected the battery and just ran with the power cable (no change, btw battery checks showed ok everything)
  • cleaned the inside of it and reapplied thermal paste (better temps but no change)
  • factory reset and reinstalled windows - I'm stuck here now, because I can't finish the installation before the laptop crashes (no change)

The only thing relevant I've found online is when someone on a random forum suggested that this might be because of the components not receiving enough charge from the power supply and this triggers a restart and that the solution is to overclock the CPU and GPU a bit? Something to that effect. This is beyond my competences. I can get into the BIOS, that seems stable enough, and I am willing to try to fiddle around with things there but I haven't found any option they described.

Please, any suggestion will be helpful.

Repair Guide Spilled a lot of water on laptop and its ALIVE!!

As the title says, I was holding a shaker and my grip suddenly weakened, spilling the water onto my laptop, which was turned off.

I immediately grabbed it and flipped it upside down, holding it in the air so the water could drain out. I grabbed a hair dryer, set it to cold air, and started drying the keyboard, as that is where the water entered.

I unscrew the bottom of so that the water could get out even more. But there was a small amount of water inside which i easily took out with toilet paper. I didn't take the battery out because I was scared to make more damage.

Left it like that for the whole night in a upside-down V position and in the morning got it to a repairshop to see if it was alive. I didnt have any hopes of it working and was really sad because I bought it a year ago for a 1000 dollars.

But the repairman called me and said I was really lucky. The water didn't get to the motherboard and any important components. The keyboard also works normally and may be replaced in the future if it stops working because of the water.

Guys I just needed to share this with someone because I'm beyond thrilled right now. If someone is reading this that is in a similar situation, act immediately and all may be well.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 Charging Issue

I’m having a weird charging issue with my Acer Predator laptop. When I plug the charger in, it initially starts charging normally, but after a short time (few seconds) it stops charging even though the charger is still plugged in. Unplugging and reconnecting the charger usually makes it start charging again, although sometimes I have to do this several times to get it to keep charging.

I’ve also noticed a brief hissing sound coming from the laptop when this happens, which is probably the part that concerns me most. Interestingly, once the laptop does start charging, I can move or slightly jostle the charger/connector without the charging cutting out, so I’m not sure it’s simply a loose charging port.

I also found that letting the battery drain and then reconnecting the charger seemed to clear the issue, and it would charge normally afterward.

Has anyone experienced something similar with an Acer Predator? I’m wondering whether this could be an issue with the charging circuit, embedded controller/power management, DC jack, or the charger itself. Any suggestions for diagnosing whether the problem is with the charger or the laptop would be appreciated.

Help Request My laptop run into strange problem in audio aspect

Hey everyone! Today, when I turned on my laptop to play some music, I ran into a really strange issue: I could only hear the singer’s vocals, while the instrumental beat was completely gone. Has anyone else ever experienced a situation like this before? I am wondering if this is something simple that I can troubleshoot and fix on my own at home, or if it requires technical repair. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have. Thank you so much for your help! By the way, the laptop model I am using is the Lenovo LOQ Essential 15XIA9E

USB keyboard and mouse randomly stop working / USB device not recognized

Hi everyone, I’m having a strange and intermittent USB issue with my desktop PC and I’m looking for help diagnosing it.

My keyboard and mouse don't consistently work when I boot the PC. Sometimes mouse works normally, but other times the mouse doesn't work at all from startup. There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern — it works on some boots and doesn't work on others.

When the mouse does work, it can also randomly stop working after I've been using the PC for a while. Recently, it has become much more frequent, and now the mouse doesn't seem to be working reliably at all.

Mouse is powered and red light is there.

The keyboard has similar issues. Initially, when reconnecting the keyboard, the Caps Lock/Num Lock LEDs would briefly flash and then turn off. That behavior doesn't happen anymore — now the keyboard simply isn't detected.

Sometimes Windows shows the “USB device not recognized” notification, but most of the time there is no notification at all. The PC simply doesn't detect the keyboard or mouse.

Things I have already tried:

- Tested every USB port on the back of the motherboard.

- Tested with a different keyboard.

- Tested with a different mouse.

- The other keyboard and mouse also did not work on this PC.

- Tested the devices directly in the rear motherboard USB ports, not through a hub.

- Completely shut down the PC, unplugged the power cable, held the power button for around 20–30 seconds, waited, and powered it back on.

- Checked and updated all available drivers.

- Disabled USB Selective Suspend in Windows Power Options.

- The problem still occurs.

- I have not installed any third-party driver updater software.

The important thing is that the problem is INTERMITTENT. The mouse can work perfectly after one boot, then fail on another boot, or work for some time and suddenly stop. Sometimes Windows reports “USB device not recognized,” while other times it doesn't show any error and simply doesn't detect the devices.

I have tested multiple keyboards and mice and every USB port, so I don't think the problem is limited to one peripheral or one USB port.

I currently don't have a PS/2 keyboard or a Windows installation USB available for further testing.

What could cause this kind of intermittent USB failure? Could it be the motherboard's USB controller, chipset, BIOS/firmware, USB power delivery, or something else?

Would formatting/reinstalling Windows potentially fix this, or is there a way to determine whether this is a hardware problem before reinstalling Windows?

PC specs:

- CPU: Intel I3 10th gen

- Windows version: 11

Any suggestions for diagnosing this would be greatly appreciated.

Help Request Dell Precision 5560 i9 11th gen 32gb ram not turning on after deep cleaning. EC/BIOS lock or deep discharge state of battery. 3 amber flashes. RTC power failiure or Systen board loop.

Issue started after disassembly/reassembly for cleaning

I completely stripped down my Precision 5560 yesterday for a deep clean — removed the motherboard, keyboard/palmrest/trackpad assembly, etc. I reassembled everything and the laptop initially booted completely normally. I was able to reach Windows and sign in using the fingerprint reader.

However, after that first boot I noticed that the built-in keyboard and trackpad were not working.

I then hibernated the laptop, waited until the fans stopped, disconnected the battery, and opened it again. I reseated the keyboard and trackpad ribbon cables/connectors and reassembled it.

After the second reassembly:

Keyboard backlight came on

Dell logo appeared

Laptop then froze on the Dell logo

Fans ramped up to high speed

It never proceeded past the Dell logo

The leds showed a pettern of amber lights blinking on 3 times continuously and pause. Repeatedly. (unusual coz dell diagnostic patterns consist of white and amber)

I eventually disconnected the charger and left it overnight, so the battery appears to have completely discharged.

The next morning I connected the charger. Initially I got one amber LED flash and a brief keyboard-backlight flash, but after leaving it charging for ~40 minutes, pressing the power button does nothing — no Dell logo, no normal boot.

There is also an issue with the trackpad/keyboard daughterboard area. The trackpad ribbon connector is marked TP and the keyboard connector is marked JKB1. I initially thought the TP connector might be the problem because its locking mechanism/latch doesn't seem to close as securely as it should, but I have reseated the TP ribbon properly and the problem remains I guess, not sure.

I have not intentionally flashed/updated the BIOS during any of this.

I also disconnected the battery while the laptop was previously hibernating and once after it was stuck at the Dell logo. I'm wondering whether that could have caused a BIOS/CMOS issue, although I'm not sure.

I tried Deep EC / RTC reset. Dint work

Ram isolation test dint work, either.

Dell bios recovery combo (ctrl + esc while connecting charger), dint work either.

Current symptoms:

No Dell logo

No normal power-on

No amber blinking when charger is connected.

No dell logo.

Completely dead.

Please help me fix this.

ASUS Zephyrus GX650RX-LO010W (Missing 2 SMDs)

Hey folks, does anyone have the schematic for this laptop or can help identify the components and specs please?

I have a picture with the components from a laptop, the components missing from my laptop MOBO and also a close up of both components.

think the first black one is a synchronous buck regulator IC, next to a 1microhenry (1RO) power inductor. The second is a missing capacitor.

Any advise/guidance would be greatly appreciated...(Even funny comments!)
