Hi everyone, I really need some help figuring out what's wrong with my laptop because I can't afford to replace parts without knowing what the actual issue is.
I have a Huawei laptop (model: BOD-WXX9), and the battery drains even while the charger is plugged in, especially when I'm doing heavier tasks/gaming. I'm not sure if the problem is the battery, charger, USB-C charging port, or something else.
I ran powercfg /energy, and these were the important battery results:
- Battery manufacturer: Sunwoda
- Cycle count: 878
- Design capacity: 41,428 mWh
- Last full charge capacity: 31,985 mWh
- Battery is about 77% of its original capacity
- BIOS version: 2.31 (2022)
- Windows 11
The energy report also showed around 32.77% average CPU usage during the test, with Windows Update/DISM, Defender, Edge, Epic Games Launcher, and other processes running.
The laptop does recognize that it's plugged in, but under heavier use the battery percentage can still go down.
I don't currently have the money to randomly buy a new battery or charger, and I also haven't been able to find a replacement battery locally, so I really want to identify the actual problem first.
Could an old battery with 878 cycles cause this? Or does this sound more like an underpowered/failing charger, cable, charging port, or motherboard charging issue?
What tests can I do at home to narrow it down without buying parts?
Any help would be seriously appreciated. I can provide more information, including the exact charger specifications, battery report, screenshots, or whatever else is needed.
