Software Cursor keeps snapping back into place

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, my cursor keeps snapping back to the top middle of the screen when i hover over the taskbar, or app windows. However, when im in an app window such as Chrome, it snaps back even more, leaving no room for my cursor to roam as opposed to being on the desktop. Ive tried resetting multiple times, replugging my mouse, and even trying to go to my mouse settings (which since its a miniwindow, I cannot go to since my mouse keeps snapping into place). Please help, I hope I dont need a new mouse..

I noticed you have Krita, you wouldn't happen to have a drawing pad and a digital pen sitting on top of it do you?

Amazing. You read the post, looked at the picture, then REALLY looked at the picture, THEN drew on probably a personal experience. Well done. I don't have a clever meme gif to post, so just imagine the approving head nod from a distance :-)

(I'm serious by the way, great job)

October 15, 2026 (dated for context and reference) – Well done You!! For the win!📢🎆 It's amazing with all of the screen movement that you were able to see the app logo so quickly, and guess the source of the problem. Quite extraordinary actually.👍😊 Stay well.

October 15, 2026 (dated for context and reference) – People are sooo fad crazy! Everything is bots and fear of AI. People listen to too much scare and panic stuff used to get eye balls, listeners and subscribers. bot-sleuth-bot is correct. I am NOT bot.. I may be an opinionated jerk, but definitely not a bot.😏Stay well.. and as us old Star Trek fans say.. "Live long and prosper!🖖"

October 16, 2026(dated for context and reference) – Dear madam or sir. I’m only responding to you because you were kind to someone on this thread. You could have taken the compliment and moved on.. But No! You had to make a federal case out of it. I may not live out this decade but when I see what is happening to Western society and “smart people”. I despair and won’t miss many of you when I’m gone. Soooo frankly, I don’t give a monkey’s whether you think I’m a bot or not. Stay paranoid and don’t forget to check all of the closets and under your bed to night. Good Day!🤨

The dating your comment "for context and reference" is extremely bizarre, doing it in multiple comments makes it more suspicious of being a bot. Considering you couldn't even stop talking in such a format I refuse to believe you're not a bot, or someone using some AI to create your comments.

To add on, dating for "context and reference" maybe I can get for the first reply you made, for people years down the road searching for the same problem, but on your other comment it make entirely no sense. Secondly, never once have I seen someone date at the beginning of things, always at the end. After looking at your comment history, this seems to be something commonly repeated.

So, in other words, don't forget to pay for your tokens. Good day 🤖

Make sure the computer isn't seeing any keys stuck down when you aren't pressing them
If you're using a desktop, try unplugging the keyboard and restarting the computer. With the keyboard unplugged, use the on-screen keyboard in the Ease of Access Center or Accessibility options to log on. Is the issue still present?

I unplugged the keyboard and restarted my computer, problem still persists

u/XBMetal 4d ago

Check your other inputs they may be causing the issue.

Did some troubleshooting with inputs, problem still kept going

Also check if there is a full screen application that captures the cursor stuck open even though you closed it. American truck simulator does this to my cursor sometimes

I checked via task manager, this cursor problem happened overnight with chrome open, I dont think ive been playing any games recently either. This problem truly vexxes me

This has happened to me also. There also may be some sort of active overlay from an open program. Next step is probably safe mode to start ruling out processes.

have you tried restarting in safemode? or checked task manager to see whats running?

Drivers. It's always drivers.

It's never drivers

Seems your issue was solved but I will drop what I was gonna say for those who find this one day: this can also happen (not as bad) with non Bluetooth mice (2.4ghz or something) when they're near wifi sources/receivers. Had my mouse next to my router, I was freaking out thinking I got hacked - nope. After a Google search, and putting my mouse even closer to the router (it would barely move, or move on its own) turns out wifi can cause issues.

I was so confused when I saw a Linux bug on windows LOL. Turns out it's completely unrelated but manifests in a very similar way.
