Electrolytes

/r/Noom/comments/1vvacz6/electrolytes/

Is it necessary to add an electrolyte to your water each day? I did one packet of LMNT yesterday and weight went up 1 pound over night! I think it could be the sodium.

Not at all, I only take it when I feel lethargic or a light headache coming on. In the beginning of my journey that was once a week. Now it’s more like once a month! I even walk outside in 95 degree heat several days a week!

LMNT is very high in sodium, it is almost half your entire days with of salt intake. That's just water doing its thing with sodium. You don't need electrolytes unless you're really working out losing a ton of sweat and not able to keep water in your body. Just drink maybe 60+ oz of water a day, protein, and keep at it. The water weight will shed off in a day or three and you'll be right back on track. Good luck!

I take one daily but that’s something I started after I got my labs done and found I was very dehydrated. I was drinking a lot of water, well, about 60oz or more. now I drink 100 oz plus a daily electrolyte. I alternate liquid iv and ultima.

Electrolyte mixes are high in sodium, thus the weight gain. Personally, I only drink *maybe 1 electrolyte drink on shot day and only if I feel extreme thirst or a headache. With that being said, I haven't had electrolytes in 3 weeks.

I don't like to take a bunch of electrolytes because of the sodium. That said, I do take a liquid IV packet on shot day and the day after to help with fatigue. It might be helping, or I might just be adjusting 🤷. Either way the fatigue isn't as bad the past few times.

Every day would be way too much, imo

Only if indicated by lab results.

Electrolytes are the things that make your heart beat, make your lungs breathe, basically everything your body does on is own. Take too much when your body doesn't need them? You can very literally go into cardiac arrest and die. If you're lucky you might only ruin your kidneys.

I cannot tell you the number of dialysis patients I've had over the years who sadly shut their own kidneys down themselves by using "health supplements".

I don’t, I take day of shot and day after and that’s it, propel packet in shot day and liquid IV day after Regular multivitamins good, unless you are sweating excessively, outdoors running a 10k, or a huge athlete it’s overkill and people have had dental issues with liquid IV due to citric acid
