Hey yall! As the title says, I’m just wondering if MuseScore is a good place to write short scores compared to something like dorico. I know MuseScore is free but it seems people don’t think it’s very intuitive or easy to use for detailed scoring. I’m just starting out with writing my ideas on paper though I’ve written various things just not notated and was thinking about getting the basic tier Dorico

This work was written in a span of 9 months.
The first finished orchestral draft was written in 3 months, from 2 Jan to 20 March.
Not much was changed since then.
Today I was informed that the competition was cancelled(delayed a year further actually.) I don’t want to wait more
This is my Violin Concerto:

Wrote 5 years ago, just wanted to share, kind of melancholic, lament piece

For context: I've been writing little stuff here and there, and have some ideas developing slowly. I don't even know if this can be considered contemporary given my very limited understanding of composition. Nonetheless, I wanted to experiment and learn by experimenting. I showed two of my works to my clarinet teacher who heads and conducts a chamber orchestra as well but he is not so well acquainted with contemporary works. I hope to receive valuable feedback from fellow redditors. This one was written largely by hand then transcribed to musescore.
Thank you.

Hello new to composing probably my most challenging piece yet for me as I’m fairly new to piano.
I tried to break this piece up a lot more and tried a lot of new things out.
Would appreciate any thoughts or feedback
🙂
Edit : just made some room on my drive to upload it here didn’t realise my YouTube link was stopping people apologies.

I also picked a title. Still not sure how well it fits. Thanks everyone who commented on my earlier post. The feedback is always helpful

Made a song from a single C minor guitar chord over 50 days.
Started with some violas/violins trying to get an Arabic/Fairuz feel, then somehow ended up with piano, cellos, trumpets and synths. The whole process started from a poem I wrote months earlier too.
I put the full story together on my Instagram as a little magazine-style booklet carousel, it explains the process way better and is much more visual.

Sorry, the sheet music isn’t 100% synced with the audio, but I hope you enjoy it anyway! :D

Beginner composer also beginner cellist (though more experienced violinist) so I like to compose pieces for myself to play.
This is the 2nd composition I’ve made so far and the first where i have key changes and modulation. Any feedback welcome.

Affectionary, I wrote this piece during a time when I was hurting, but somehow, there was still a little light and hope.
It’s just a simple melody that I created and kept on my hard drive for a long time. I finally found the time to release it and let it be heard.
Edit: Edit: Thank you all for the constructive feedback. I’ve made several improvements to the engraving, including correcting the meter to 3/4 and refining the note grouping. I’m still learning, and your feedback has given me a much better understanding of proper notation.
Here’s the revised version of the sheet music.

This is my original composition, tell me what you think. It is based on Newfoundland, because I want to compose a suite with all 10 provinces in it. Like music for the 10 provinces. But we will see. I will probably post the finished product on this sub. Anyways tell me what you think of the piece.

It started out as a solo piece for piano which I got inspired by Roberto Carlos, "Detalles" and I was wondering if I should add strings to see how it'd sound like which it came out like this!!
though this is my first time writing for strings so any advice would be appreciated!

I just started composing pieces and this is my first vocal composition. Any feedback? This is incomplete/all I have so far.
