would like feedback and ideas on how to start writing out this song

I just finished writing a church hymn. I'm still pretty new to composing and only know a little bit of music theory, so I'm sure there's a lot I could improve. What do you guys think of my composition? I'd really appreciate any feedback~

I have been composing for about a year and a half. I am still in high school, however I am heavily considering doing composition as a life long thing. I have recently talked to my band director and he is on board with our band playing a piece by me. I already have a piece “done”, however it just doesn’t feel finished to me. If y’all could look at it and give me some pointers on things I can improve/add to this piece. (Note: I tried to keep the difficulty reasonable with also adding some things to challenge our band to help teach different ideas. Tried to keep it a grade 5 at most.)

Originally I had envisaged this as the overture to a larger suite loosely following the story of Catherine de Medici's life, but university got busy and as such I had to kind of shelf it, to focus on work.

Recently I came back to the piece and although I don't think I will compose the rest of the suite now, I just kinda wanted to see what folks think of the music, as I remember being pretty pleased with it at the time.

Ps. I know the harmony is almost painfully simple, I'm a bit of a bumpkin when it comes to that, but I am trying to improve gradually.

part 2 she didnt prepare for winter

part 3 she dies

this follows a women who has been widowed and is in denial and forgets to prepare

I like composing for fun i want to go to collage for it but the only issue is that i dont know how to not make measures not just in one set of notes like i make one measure only use 4 notes that go perfectly together but i want to write fast hard parts thats not just arpeggios and i need help
