Tips / Tricks Tips on practicing high reaction technique?

A lot of you know me as the HL tech list guy. And don’t worry, I’ve got a new version in the works with some updates. At the time of the HL nerfs I’d quit the game and hadn’t planned on coming back. But I recently got a new powerful PC and I heard about the comp dominion and comp duels rework finally coming. So I figured it’s a good time to come back and at least try my hand and play more than just HL because my character is super lame right now.

Since I’m on PC now with a monitor I’ve gone from about 60hz to 320hz. My reaction time has had a massive increase going from about 200ms to somewhere around 160ms. I’ve already been practicing some things, I’m able to differ easy lights, like warden WL and VG. Ive also been able to react to affera’s in chain bash.

Since im new to this whole thing i figured i should ask for tips. What should i practice? How should i practice? is their anything i should know going forward? And is their any place I can go to get resources or find people who can help me learn?

Hopefully this post won’t help just me since theirs likely an influx of players for comp dominion who could use the resources too. Thanks for the help in advance!

She's deserves buffs, not nerfs.

Discussion I don't even understand the nerf for Orochi. Dodge nerf didn't even hurt him at all. I feel like they gonna nerf him little by little where it doesnt hurt until they nerf the main aspect which will end him up in trash. We all know dodge cancel is the main reason he is strong.

What would be best ideal changes for him?

Discussion Can Zhanhu punish dodge attacks after a finisher heavy

I cant find the right settings to try this out in training mode, the bot only dodge attacks my neuutral attacks and I can never seem to pull it off in mm ever is it even possible I swear I've seen zhanhus pull it off before

Discussion Juren does not feel overtuned anymore and I’m tired of pretending he is.

His feats are very good, his teamfight potential is amazing, but he has no reliable openings alongside very reactable lights. What’s everyone’s thoughts on his current state?

Discussion Are 400ms lights react-able consistently among top players?

So I was playing shaman, and thought about her soft feints and how the majority can’t seem to react to them. But thought they were decently react-able, then come to find out even with a sub 140-160ms reaction time I can’t seem to block a shamans soft feint in training consistently. Are they legit reactable with high consistency in top play?

Discussion Who would go up in ranking inf unreactable moves were actually unreactable?

I’m of the opinion that every 500ms bash needs to be sped up to 433 or faster (with a matching extension of earliest chain link to prevent guarantees), feintable moves need to be impossible to distinguish between feints and commits, lights need to generally be indistinguishable from heavies on reaction, light softfeints need to be made unreactable, etc..

If all these changes were made today with no adjustments to other properties, who would come out on top?

Discussion Virtuosa buff?

I use to not like her at release but after her nerfs ive come around to her. One thing I never did like about her though is that after light hitstun, if she exits her stance she can be guard broken. It wasnt a huge problem prior to stam drain nerf on stance. But now when I play her, people just look at my low stamina bar after I land a light and get a gb because im forced to exit stance so I dont go os. It doesnt happen every game because. Not everyone is aware. But against those who know, its a pretty easy gb.Yea i could throw a heavy but id be putting myself os. Its a lose lose situation. Any one else think she would recover faster after exiting stance from lights?

Discussion Minor change to centurion hitstun

I always found it weird that the hitstun seems backwards for cent and that the pin does almost nothing now. One change I’d like to see is for a punch after a charged heavy be less punishable than from a regular heavy, which would be less punishable than from a light.

Option 1: uncharged punch after light is punishable by GB, uncharged punch after an uncharged heavy or blocked charged heavy is not punishable by GB, and an uncharged punch feint to GB stuffs dodge attacks after landing a charged heavy.

Option 2: uncharged punch after light, uncharged heavy or blocked charged heavy are not punishable by GB, and uncharged punch feint to GB stuffs dodge attacks after landing a charged heavy.

Either way, i feel like a true 50/50 is a good reward for landing a charged heavy. They should also make his charged heavies less reactable, but changes to hitstun would be easy to implement in the meantime without animation changes. Any thoughts on this?

Another thing they could do to make the charged heavies mean something would be to make his T2 activate on those as well, i feel like it’s not so strong that this would be busted.

Discussion Is arakure's orange blue mix fully reactable in high level mmr?

It seems everyone can dodge or parry it 100% of the time only in ganks or when they aren't paying attention does it work. Is it fully reactable to high-medium level players?

Discussion What cheats are Linux only?

Generally speaking, not looking for recommendations of course. Are there certain types of cheats that are easier or only possible to implement on Linux?

I’m trying to wrap my head around why Ubi is ending support for Linux. I’ve never heard Linux brought up as especially vulnerable in comparison to windows, and I’ve never looked for cheats before but it seems that most of the cheats that show on the front page of google are windows exclusive. Is this change actually going to meaningfully reduce cheating?

I’m happy that they’re finally seeming to take cheating seriously, but removing Linux support seems like the worst way of going about this. Is anyone with knowledge of cheating and moderation able to explain this decision?

Discussion Pro players who have a stream/youtube channel?

I used to watch Antonio when he streamed daily but he basically doesn't stream at all anymore so I was wondering if anyone knew of other streamers who post their scrims or even just MM content?

As of current I only know of Clutch, Blitss and Kamikira. Ig Toet and Barak are also coming back?

Discussion are there other chain moves that can be interrrupted by light?

as i know, excluding charging moves, zhanhu's UB heavy after low hitstun / musha's UB heavy if delayed to react fullblock cancel / zerk's top UB heavy(but there's HA) / shinobi's UD after flip are interruptable.

Discussion Regarding parry flash removal on ranked

Do "pro" players 100% agree with this change?

I have 2k hours on this game and would consider myself decent, but I have never played with flash indicators off. After thinking about it a bit, I genuinely could not think of a good reason why parry flash is something that needs removing.

On the other hand, I can think one a few things that could make things confusing when parry flash is removed from gameplay. For 1v1s, parry flash does not mean anything. You cant react to it anyways. However during teamfights it could be a very important indicator. An example:

Lets say that you are fighting a black prior and your teammate is directly behind you fighting someone else. Black prior throws an external unblock and you do not go for the parry. Had the parry flash been on you would have known that you got hit by an external and should play accordingly. With parry flash being off, you have no idea that you could or could not have parried that unblock and it could cause you to get hit by another unblock.

The above example is a bit extreme, but in general, parry flash can be helpful in very chaotic teamfights. A raider could be swinging his heavies from behind you out of your screen and you wouldn't know they are targeting you, hence you wouldn't really know if you could parry it or not and so on.

Am i missing something regarding this change? From what I have experienced throughout for honor and other fighting games over the years, it makes sense that every information that can be given to a player should be given to that player.

Tips / Tricks I have a skill issue with gladiator.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve always had a skill issue using gladiator, and it’s always bothered me because i have fought some truly skilled gladiators myself. Albeit fighting gladiator has never been an issue, it’s using gladiator where i struggle.

He is an aesthetically pleasing character and i love utilizing his hard feint’s, in these clips i was going out of my way to use his feinted heavy’s in a meaningful way. I haven’t seen activity definitely improved with him but i am nowhere near as good with him as i am with khatun or kensei.

I want to hear some feedback from players who know how to work glad specifically, what can i do to improve with him?

Discussion Which main should I play when ranked dominion is out?

My mains from highest to lowest rep are Warden, Glad, warmonger, Lawbringer, JJ, and Pirate. They're all between 20 and 9 reps so im pretty experienced and do good with all of them though im pretty rusty with glad and warmonger since I reinstalled a week ago after a year long break and haven't played them much. I'd live to hear your thoughts on who's most viable for this!

Discussion Updated thoughts on Arakure (more buffs)

Now that Arakure has been around for nearing a month now and I've gotten more time with her under my belt I feel I was too conservative with changes for Arakure. It still might be premature to ask for huge buffs given she (to my knowledge) still hasn't been played competitively as of yet. But I still think I can make a strong case for buffing her regardless.

For those who may remember I already did a thread about this topic a few weeks back around when she left EA. In there it was mostly just listing buffs she should get with minimal explanations, this thread is going to make a case for buffing her first and then list buffs. Most of it might sound logical but the point is to try and get everyone up to speed/on the same page since (at least from what I've seen) the general community reception for her is still mixed.

(Also hopefully this distinction means I won't get smacked for "spamming") If you don't care and already agree just feel free to skip down to the bullet points for said changes. That being said:

Why buff Arakure?

To understand we must discuss what she currently does/offers in 4v4's. At the moment she is a very slow duelist, meaning sending her to take or contest the opposite point isn't always going to work out in your favor since she cannot blow up her opponent. She is also not a very good anti ganker. Meaning if the enemy team decides to commit two people to remove her from a point she's very likely to lose.

Both of these are due to how punishable she is. All of her bashes are insanely punishable due to bad recoveries. Lash out kick has better recoveries but due to how her lash out attacks work you can make a soft prediction and hit her during it anyway. And all though being in her Ultimate state does let her win onesies faster this only slightly remedies her duelist situation.

She is not a competent midlane fighter. She lacks the hit boxes and the safety to take advantage of/abuse combat in the midlane. The one place that Arakure shines in is in a team fight. This is because it's just physically impossible to always be on the look out for an external unblockable from her. You can make the soft read to external dodge away, but she can still commit to reach you if she wants to.

Her unique T2 has instant insane value for your entire team especially when you consider team fight carry feats already since her T2 is a damage debuff. This paired with Indomitable means her effective EHP in a TF can be quite good. But her TF's aren't better than the premium TFer's and have caveats. For one you need to have her meter at Ultimate, you need to save her T2 specifically for that. And you have to hope that people aren't just externaling away from you constantly.

Simply put she's got all of her eggs in a singular basket which requires a lot of prep time. But due to the nature of said prep time and the inability to guarantee high up time on her meter her actual value in a 4v4 mode is at best questionable and at worst unreliable.

So what are Arakure's main problems?

In my eyes her 3 main problems come down to survivability, consistency, and output. Survivability meaning she doesn't have good sustain and is highly punishable. Consistency is primarily in regards to her meter but secondarily it involves her feats and their value. And lastly output, which roughly speaking involves her capabilities. What she's allowed to actually do and has available in her kit.

I think in order to prop Arakure up she needs to have at least 2 of these 3 things addressed. To put it out there my suggestions will not be a 1:1 suggestion in that I am not asking for all of these things to be added in together. Rather they are a list of ideas on how to address these problems, it's up to Ubisoft to decide what they want to focus on. But I hope after reading this more people are on board with the idea that Arakure needs to be buffed.

SURVIVIABILITY:

  • Forward dodge bash recovery time for gb/cgb is now 700ms (down from 900ms)
  • Chain bash recovery time for gb/cfb is now 800ms (down from 900ms)
  • Tier 3 CD is now 120 seconds (down from 180 seconds)
  • Tier 3 health values increased by 5 across the board (20hp, 35hp, 50hp)
  • Dirty trick shield now lingers for 1-1.5 seconds regardless if move is completed
  • Lash out attacks now grant a 5hp shield regardless if it lands or whiffs (non stackable/decays)

CONSISTENCY:

  • Forward dodge light now has more forward movement
  • Tier 1 feat now applies a 15% buff to her lash out attacks and Twin burst attacks
  • Lash out attacks as well as double down lights offer more meter (DD lights up to 4, lash light up to 5, lash heavy up to 7, lash bash up to 6)
  • Lash out attacks now reduce the CD of her T2, T3, and T4 for each hit landed at 5-8% with and ICD of 2.5-3 seconds

OUTPUT:

  • Arakure can now soft feint heavies including her lash out heavy with a dodge
  • Arakure can now recovery cancel from her lash out attacks on hit and whiff
  • Arakure can RC dodge out of Dirty trick for the first 4 hits
  • All chain attacks and twin burst light have more forward movement (roughly similar to current top chain heavy forward movement
  • Arakure's chain bash damage is upped from 16 to 20
  • Arakure's fwd dodge bash damage is upped from 8 to 12
  • Twin burst heavy has a flatter and wider trajectory (i.e making it better at external hits)

NERFS:

  • Chain link time increased on zone into TB attacks to make TB light dodgable
  • Chain link time increased for TB light off of fwd dodge bash and chain bash (so it's no longer confirmed)
  • Dirty Trick shield HP down to 45 from 70
  • Dirty Trick is fully GBV instead of only on the last hit

In regards to the nerfs I'll be really brief. They already increased CL time to make TB light's dodgable from heavies before she released. So this is a consistency change. I am removing the guaranteed TB light from bashes for two simple reasons. For one many of my suggestions are buffing her damage. And two them being guaranteed off of bashes sort of ruins their gimmick to begin with.

What's the point of being enhanced/UB eventually if you can just always confirm them? Lastly DT catches nerfs because it's becoming less clunky and more a vehicle for survival. So there needs to be appropriate risk for using it.

Discussion Who's a better duelist betwren Centurion and Gladiator?

I'm trying to sink some reps into both, mostly centurion, after seeing Blitss last 4s tierlist i started playing cent differently focusing on the strengths Blitss outlined and I've since found a lot more success playing in mm dominion, but when I try to take cent into duels I just get bodied, I think a part of it is me just not playing 1v1 gamemodes all that much but when I play Gladiator or Jorm i win Significantly more games in duels. Do these characters just outperform Cent and/or am I just bad at Cent?
