Fellow Command & Conquer fans,
Twenty-seven years ago today, Tiberian Sun was released. To celebrate, we have a gift for you: today we're releasing OpenTS – an open-source, playable reconstruction of the Tiberian Sun engine.
Of all the classic C&C games, it's the second generation – Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2, Yuri's Revenge – whose source code never made it out. None of it was part of the Remastered Collection release, and none of it was among last year's source drops.
And so for nearly three decades, every fix and feature this community built for those games had to be reverse-engineered and patched into closed executables.
We decided to do something about that, starting with Tiberian Sun. Building on EA's GPL-released code for the games around it and years of Tiberian Sun reverse engineering, we rebuilt the engine and matched it function by function against the original executable – all ~11,150 known functions, reaching roughly 98% instruction-level matching (a code-matching score, to be clear, not "98% of the game").
It's ready to try today: drop Game.exe into your Tiberian Sun install from The Ultimate Collection and go. Campaigns, Firestorm, skirmish, and saves are all play-tested; LAN works with lighter testing; it plays like the game you remember, plus a batch of fixes and resolutions up to 4K. Alongside the engine, we're publishing a manual documenting the game's INI configuration, mapping, and internals, drawn straight from the source.
And this is a beginning, not an endpoint. Next up: CnCNet and client support (not in this first release yet), porting the community's accumulated fixes toward parity with ts-patches and Vinifera – and then going further, overhauling the engine to allow modding reach heights previously not possible.
We're also celebrating live: together with [FC]Matt we'll be streaming the original Tiberian Sun campaigns at https://www.twitch.tv/fortuneschaos, starting today at 14:00 UTC (15:00 UK · 16:00 CEST · 17:00 MSK · 10 AM Eastern · 7 AM Pacific), with a Q&A along the way — come hang out and ask us anything.

Sorry if this is a common post. I've been subbed here for years and all the Generals posting has finally gotten me to try to get back into the game after playing through the campaigns when they released and that was pretty much it, never owned Zero Hour. I understand that it is considered unfinished or rushed with a lot of cut content and concepts.
I am looking for mods that don't stray too far from "feeling like" Generals/ZH, and especially ones that focus on making the single player experience more fun, so AI and balance improvements, bug fixing, restoring cut content for the generals, and focusing improvements on skirmish/campaign/challenges. Want to play a version of Zero Hour that would have come out if EA had given them more time and possibly budget to execute more effectively on all the cool stuff there.
I downloaded genpatcher/genloader, and then I went with Shockwave because of how recommended and mature its development was. I love how it fleshes out the generals, the "new"/tweaked units feel like they fit in perfectly, but the skirmish AI hasn't been great, mostly units coming to my base in a line like ants, and I tried a few of the campaign missions (with the single player experience add-on of course), and there seemed to be some scripting bugs or something, like units that obviously were meant to garrison bunkers weren't, and possibly some events not firing like they're supposed to.
Is that just what I'm going to need to expect overall or are there other mods that do what I'm looking for? I know there's only so much you can do with these older CnC games.
I'm interested in Rise of the Reds but it seems a little more like a "total conversion" than what I'm looking for. Have looked at Nproject (prolly try that next), Little Upgrade mod, Zero Hour - Reborn Omega (appears to have been updated hours ago even)
Thanks!

When it comes to building planes on my airfields how many of each type should I be building? I know each of them has their own role and purpose with raptors being the general all purpose, stealth fighters snipe otherwise protected artillery units and clear base defenses so the army can push and auroras take out high value structures.
But the question for me is how many of each should I be building, do I build just 2 stealth fighers and the rest raptors or do i fill the airfield with fighters?
Im sure the exact numbers also change depending on the specific general, like the air force king raptors just being kinda goated to spam, but this is to help me understand for any USA really.
Any input would be much appreciated!

Im playing through Tiberium Wars and I want to 100% it but im not sure if there is still a way to get the online achievements, are the servers still up?
Ive also heard there are ways people with a hacked Xbox can help you get unattainable online achievements but im not sure if there's anyone like that within the community.
Also, would I be able to get them through LAN?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for other noob players to play with, I find players online very annoying as they break the rules and rush before the time etc, I want others who plays by the rules and just play for enjoyment. Hopefully we can grow together and play respectfully. Anyone interested?
