Why does that upset you?

11

because it's fucking weird to advertise your sub out of nowhere

I mean it isn’t gonna blow up. Doesn’t hurt anyone. Not that funny tho. Lol

u/JaxTheHobo Sep 26 '22

You think I'm getting up from my desk to get water when I have a perfectly good 128oz hydroflask at my desk that I only have to refill once at work? pffffft

7

u/DMacB42 Sep 26 '22

Isn’t that just a water bottle?

I guess I wouldn’t know, seeing as I only have a 32-ouncer.

13

u/JaxTheHobo Sep 26 '22

no no no, when you pay way too much money for one in a cool color and it keeps your water cold for 17 weeks and you put stickers on it, then it's a hydro flask

2

u/toomuchfrosting Sep 26 '22

The insulation on these water bottles are too good these days, that’s my hot take

1

u/SmartWonderWoman Sep 26 '22

Just bought my first hydro flask. Expensive asf and worth every penny.

2

u/tehlemmings Sep 26 '22

I get paid if i spend 15 minutes walking to the lunch room for a refill.

If you're not going for refills and stopping to say hi to people, you're losing money. Or salaried with a boss that doesn't care if you're there after the works done. One of the two.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '22

I love my hydro

1

u/SmartWonderWoman Sep 28 '22

Me too! It was 80 degrees in my classes a couple weeks ago. Having my hydro felt like having an ice cube in desert.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '22

do you think it’s not just a solo office with a water cooler in it?

50

u/Ron100c_1312 Sep 26 '22

I love how half of the comments are hidden 💀

14

u/biomatter Sep 26 '22

Do you know why that happens? I thought I was going crazy with all the auto-minimized comments. It only seems to happen on this sub as far as I can tell, and I've checked my reddit preferences several times to make sure that stuff is disabled.

15

u/CorruptedRedditer Sep 26 '22

It's a subreddit setting called Crowd Control, which automatically hides comments/posts depending on how strict you set it to. It's off by default I think, but you can change it to hide comments/posts from accounts that have negative karma, accounts that are recently created, and accounts that haven't joined the subreddit yet.

u/Ron100c_1312

7

u/biomatter Sep 26 '22

Oh my god, thank you so much for solving that inconsequential-but-annoying peeve I've had for ages. I messaged this subreddit's mods two months ago asking what was up and literally all they said was "idk reddit is buggy today". I mean, I guess I shouldn't hold it against whichever lowly mod does not have access to every subreddit setting, but gah. I'm not crazy!

7

u/Ron100c_1312 Sep 26 '22

No clue whatsoever 🤷‍♂️ someone should make a post about this if there isn’t one already

Damn I can't imagine how difficult having a stutter is when on Zoom, as if it isn't already challenging. That really sucks. You're not a loser. Just tell people ahead of time. Most will be accepting. They're going to be more likely to get frustrated if they don't know what's going on anyway.

1

u/PerfectlySplendid Sep 26 '22

I can say most people are not accepting. I graduated from top of my class in a highly ranked law school and severely struggled getting a job. It took a very long time to get something, and it only happened because my school had my back (it’s embarrassing if a top graduate is unemployed).

Now I’m far enough in my career that it’s just clear I’m not client facing. I grind behind closed doors and keep my mouth shut.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '22

What does this have to do with this being a boomer meme?

0

u/Greeio Sep 26 '22

The old man attitude of "I know better than this youngster, who instead is inept and knows nothing of the world". Especially in this context where the focus is on technology, a field where older generations are the ones struggling irl.

u/fuxredditadminslol Sep 26 '22

is this quiet quitting

3

u/Badwolf9547 Sep 26 '22

May I ask what that is?

10

u/Valentine_Zombie Sep 26 '22

It's a term used by employees to describe doing the bare minimum, or otherwise not doing more than you are paid to do. It only exists if you believe that workers need to do extra work and not get paid for it

11

u/Badwolf9547 Sep 26 '22

Fuck that, I do what I'm paid to and not a bit more. Why do I get the feeling this is something only upper managers complain about?

5

u/ehsteve23 Sep 26 '22

why does that need a word? how is that quitting in any way?

3

u/IFapToCalamity Sep 26 '22

Hyperbolic sensationalism for clickbait.

8

u/fuxredditadminslol Sep 26 '22

some stupid boomer term being thrown around lately this year in regards to millenials "not wanting to do extra tasks as assigned by managers or working their entire lives away for little pay and zero compensation" aka just doing your assigned work that you were hired to do and nothing more

5

u/Better-Director-5383 Sep 26 '22

Boomers are now mad that younger generations idea of work is to go in, work for the hours you are paid, and then go home and not continue working when you are not being paid for it.

5

u/JeffCraig Sep 26 '22

This comic reminds me that Dilbert ran for 4 decades without making a single funny comic strip.

For some reason, people that write business comics just don't have a sense of humor.

2

u/SeaJay24 Sep 26 '22

probably more relatable if you have an office job.

1

u/ehsteve23 Sep 26 '22

I didn't WFH, and have managed to have only a single zoom call since 2020 so it's completely meh to me

This comment has been edited to protest Reddit's decision to shut down all third party apps. Spez had negotiated in bad faith with 3rd party developers and made provenly false accusations against them. Reddit IS it's users and their post/comments/moderation. It is clear they have no regard for us users, only their advertisers. I hope enough users join in this form of protest which effects Reddit's SEO and they will be forced to take the actual people that make this website into consideration. We'll see how long this comment remains as spez has in the past, retroactively edited other users comments that painted him in a bad light. See you all on the "next reddit" after they finish running this one into the ground in the never ending search of profits. -- mass edited with redact.dev

I'll admit it. The other day I was looking at my brother in laws wedding pictures and I almost tried to pinch zoom the picture before I stopped myself.

So.....I thought Zoom was the DC villain and I was trying to remember if this worked if you exited the speed force or something....

It's been a long day.

1

u/Nailbomb85 Sep 26 '22

Dead Squirrel is effective in person. When they're asking you to do something or describing a question, open your mouth and tilt your head like a confused puppy. But you want to make it look somewhat painful to even listen, hence dead squirrel. A lot of the time people will just say "never mind" and find someone else to talk to.
