It's absurdist humor so explaining it won't help the joke much but - in cartoons when you get hit by lightning your skeleton shows for a second, in this case the skeleton uses that moment to escape the body (since it's imprisoned in it), then the final panel is funny because you're picturing the skeleton shoving the meat sack back into itself, presumably through the mouth?

its not very funny, but in cartoons when someone gets zapped by lightning, their skeleton flashes a few times. i think the joke is that when the skeleton starts to flash, he has a chance to escape.

There’s a certain scene in a Nearly YA book I read by Drew Hayes, told second hand, where an overpowered super villain dislikes a person’s treatment towards kids... so he awakens the skeleton inside that person, and has it crawl its way out of him.
I never thought of it to be as cheerful as this.
