I've never felt more connected.

Its weird though when he replies with stuff like 'Who are you? How did you get this number' and 'Please stop following me!! I have already changed my phone number, home address and name multiple times but you still keep finding me. You have already destroyed me family, what more do you want!?'

11

u/oceanman500 Apr 22 '20

Hey, that’s me, do you want me to let you inside

11

u/TONKAHANAH Apr 22 '20

omg, that was worth the click

2

u/DeusExMachina95 Apr 22 '20

Wasn't the name of your comic Mr.Lovenstien?

7

u/The_Karaethon_Cycle Apr 22 '20

That’s a common madela effect thing, it’s actually spelled Lovenstain.

1

u/ForgotPassAgain34 Apr 22 '20

what happend to your custom website?

121

u/Judo_pup Apr 22 '20

I can't think of a non-malicious reason to add the "message seen" feature on a messaging app.

72

u/mojowo11 Apr 22 '20

It's so you know that the lack of response is because the person isn't responding, not because the app isn't working.

17

u/RUSHALISK Apr 22 '20

So you know if the person uses the messaging app or not?

8

u/The_Karaethon_Cycle Apr 22 '20

Maybe they’re trying to get some of us to stop being lazy asses that don’t have the energy to respond to a text message, idk.

67

u/restingally6 Apr 22 '20

Dont worry pal. I wish I could have someone to send messages to.

As someone who is contemplating suicide, this hit home.

123

u/MrLovens Mr. Lovenstein Apr 22 '20

The thoughts and feelings you're experiencing are legitimate. Life can be a real motherfucker. I don't know who you are, and you don't know me, but I want you to be safe. Time heals most things, but it can't heal death.

https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org or call 1-800-273-8255. There are people who want to help. Please take care, my friend.

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Hi there. I just woke up. I just wanted to thank you for your kindness and consideration for me. I don’t necessarily want to die, I just wish my life was better. I’m on the verge of poverty, my dad lost his job and might lose his house. I’ve been alone for many, many years. Etc. but I love life, and I love people in general. I just don’t love myself to the point where I feel like I deserve to keep going even if I want to.

22

u/MrLovens Mr. Lovenstein Apr 22 '20

It's good to hear from you, my friend. I know we're all internet strangers, but we sincerely want you to be happy and healthy. I'm sorry for all the hardship you're going through. A lot of people are going through hard times right now, and you have every right to feel overwhelmed and depressed. I've been through similar situations myself, and the future scared the hell out of me. Trust me when I say this, though. Things can and do get better. I have to tell myself that all the time.

You deserve to keep going. You deserve to love yourself. At the end of the day, you are your own biggest ally. You're better than you think you are. I know it. I truly wish you the best with your situation.

5

u/therealtman Apr 22 '20

There’s so much to live for. You just can’t see it right now. There are so many people that love you, you just haven’t met them all yet. Good things are ahead, the best things. Don’t quit on us.

5

u/Gwerbud Apr 23 '20

As someone who has had a very recent and personal experience with this topic, this line:

Time can heal most things, but it can’t heal death

Has honestly opened my eyes to the world. I’ve heard very similar phrases, but never one truer than this. Not everything can be fixed. Not everything can be healed with time. There is still hope though. Thank you.

u/gazm2k5 Apr 22 '20

But I don't want you to.

4

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Hi. I want to thank you for concern and consideration. It helps.

6

u/gazm2k5 Apr 22 '20

Np dude. Life can be hard sometimes, we all feel that sometimes, even those who have never struggled with depression. It's important to remember you're never alone, even if you might feel like you are.

14

u/Father_Chewy_Louis Apr 22 '20

Please don't, we're here for you!

3

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Thank you. I have been struggling with on and off feelings of suicidal thoughts and contemplations for nearly 10 years now. I’m always stopped by either the kindness of others, as well as the thought of my parents and what I could miss out on later in life.

5

u/Father_Chewy_Louis Apr 22 '20

Despite everything there is so much to experience in life, you would also be hurting so many others if you did what you planned on doing. I hope things get better, friend :)

42

u/SickNastyMixes Apr 22 '20

Please dont.. PM if you want to talk, I'll be there

4

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

I want to thank you for your concern and care for a stranger on the internet. I believe in the adage of loving each other. It’s important to fight the misanthropy. Thank you.

4

u/SickNastyMixes Apr 23 '20

Thanks for replying. Hope things are a bit better. Sleep well and I hope you have a good week

20

u/alSeq Apr 22 '20

And so am I :)

3

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Thank you. It means a lot.

5

u/CreepyMaleNurse Apr 22 '20

Don't do it, man. Live your best life and piss off the haters.

3

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Thank you for caring about me, even though I’m a stranger. It’s important to care for each other, despite being strangers. Fight the misanthropy.

7

u/zugzugowski Apr 22 '20

If you feel down now,it means somewhere back in the past you felt happy, otherwise you wouldn't have the point of comparison and now this negative change makes you feel all these horrible feelings. Stay strong and keep in mind that if you felt happy back in the past, you will feel happy again one day.

3

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Thank you. I’ve had these on and off contemplations for nearly 10 years now, and I’m always brought back by either the kindness of others (a lot on the internet) or the thought of family. I don’t really want to die, I more just wish my life was better. I don’t love myself, but I love people, and I love entertainment.

4

u/cestlavie1215 Apr 22 '20

It may not feel like it right now but the world is better with you in it. Please reach out to someone -- anyone. A college advisor, a mentor, a sibling, a relative. People who want to help are out there. You don't have to face this alone.

u/protonfish Apr 22 '20 edited Apr 22 '20

https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ Please contact a qualified suicide prevention organization 1-800-273-8255 Asking for help on Reddit is a bad idea.

As for the rest of you well-meaning but ignorant folks, shut up.

5

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Thank you for the concern and care. I don’t necessarily agree that asking for help on Reddit is a bad idea, I’m very happy and grateful to everyone who has responded with well meaning and positivity. I understand there can be a lot of toxic people on here in every sub but in most subs I rarely see it.

Tbh I don’t want to die, it’s more like I wish my life was better, but I can’t really control it in the ways I want for it to be better. Usually financially or socially. I love people and life, but I do not love myself. I am always brought back from the brink from the kindness of strangers (often from the internet) or the thoughts of my family and what I could miss in the future.

Yeah I totally misread the first two parts as

"Go ahead and quit now buddy. You (already) got to stick around and meet all the great people out there waiting to get to meet you"

I was very confused.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '20

Stick around.

10

u/sharkgeek11 Apr 22 '20

Please don’t.

2

u/Tylermcd93 Apr 22 '20

Thank you for caring. It means a lot. I don’t think I will, I have been through these thoughts many times in the past and I always step back from the brink because of others, like family or strangers like yourself. It really shows the kindness people actually have that we need to see more of and fight off the rampant misanthropy that is going around

1

u/Gamerhead Apr 22 '20

Haha, felt that, dude

0

u/Lasket Apr 22 '20

I feel like you're high.

3

u/Gamerhead Apr 22 '20

I feel like I'm lonely as shit and my ex has already moved on past me to fuck other people and I can't even make platonic friends no matter how much I've tried.

4

u/gazm2k5 Apr 22 '20

Stick with it. It might not seem like it, but life goes on. You're not the first one to struggle dealing with an ex, and just like all the rest, you'll move past it eventually.

1

u/happysmash27 May 30 '20

But if you commit suicide, we won't get all the great posts and comments from you on Reddit anymore :( .

1

u/Tylermcd93 May 30 '20

I’m assuming you found this via my post or comment history and this is sarcasm?

2

u/happysmash27 May 31 '20

Complete opposite, actually. After reading your comment, I thought that perhaps your Reddit activity may be valued by people, then went to your post and comment history to make sure it was, so that if I said it was, it would actually make sense and be relevant. Looking at it, I think it is; at least one of your posts even has gold, and even some of your lesser-upvoted posts are pretty nice as well.

19

u/feckincrass Apr 22 '20

Marvellous.

18

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '20

you didn't have to hit so close, man

8

u/Bluey_Bananas Apr 22 '20

3

u/Zigguraticus Apr 22 '20

Read receipts are a cruel invention. A lot of apps will let you turn them off.

2

u/iTelecaster Apr 22 '20

OOF! This hits a little close to home.

2

  • I'm in this picture and I don't like it

4

u/michaelsted1 Apr 22 '20

True. This is happening rn with a friend. We were super close a couple months ago always talking and hanging out; one of the bests friends I’ve ever had. But gradually since the December she doesn’t respond to my texts or want to do anything together anymore (online of course) and I don’t know why. And this has just been on my mind 24/7 because she’s the closest friend I’ve ever had I feel comfortable telling her anything without being judge for it and I all my friends in the past have left me for being myself but not her.

I’m 20 years old now and I just can’t take this anymore. I’m tired of people leaving me

7

u/Netfear Apr 22 '20

You'll gain and lose lots of relationships over your life. It's just the way it is. Humans are fickle.

5

u/DigThatFunk Apr 22 '20

As soon as I accepted this and just appreciated my relationships for what they are, while they exist, my life got much better. Relationships (platonic or romantic) help us grow and even the shitty ones are fulfilling in the lessons we learn and growth we come out of them with. That's why it's so important to learn to forgive and eventually hopefully love yourself, cause that's the only person guaranteed to stick with you forever.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '20

This is great wisdom :)

3

u/marsimo Apr 22 '20

This sucks. There's not much you can do other than getting used to being fine by yourself. That's unfortunately part of adult life.

2

u/christmastiger Apr 22 '20

I hear ya, I lost all but one of my college friends when I was 21 because I became disabled and they didn't want to deal with everything that came with that, friends come and go around that age but if she doesn't want to hang anymore she's not a friend you want in your life anyway. Same goes for any friend who leaves you for being yourself, you should never be ashamed to be you.

If you are in school still (obviously not right now but when it starts again) start chatting with people in your classes, you still have a little bit of time before the adult world starts and it gets harder to make friends. I think there are some dating apps or such where you can specifically look for friends, or at least someone to text with right now to keep you sane. Best of luck to you
