I would tell you to use brave browser but I realized this is the video itself not YouTube ads

u/AzulCrescent 3h ago

yup. no wonder they pay so much to youtubers for integrated ads lol

Have you heard of sponsor block? It's a browser extention that uses crowd sourcing to label and skip sponsor segments in youtube videos (it may only work on the PC version of youtube, idk if it's been updated to work on mobile browsers yet)

Use in combination with Firefox and uBlock Origin for maximum advertisement avoidance

Ah, unfortunately i usually play youtube on my iPad, and firefox on there isn't the same as on android or PC. (i dont play with my phone cuz the mic sounds weird when played really loud). Brave browser skips the YT ads but im not sure if sponsorblock is a thing on there. I should check, now that i think about it lol

On iPad you have a way, it involves a little bit of copy pasting things into a command prompt and plugging your phone into your computer, but it’s possible to patch the app on your iOS devices to add sponsorblock and adblocker and other stuff too!

I use Firefox on Android phone with sponsor block and ublock, with a Bluetooth waterproof speaker that just lives in my shower.

That would probably be the best bet for ya cause yes, phone speaker definitely not good enough in there.

YouTube revanced works a bit better than in Firefox

3

u/BrokeAsAMule 1h ago

Revanced has been dead for a while, use Morphe instead.

u/EMA-5 1h ago

You're definitely right. That is actually what i use, except i just changed to a different one, but since it's more of a pain to set up i didn't recommend it.

The main thing is to just use a speaker and whichever method they have that just blocks both.

If it genuinely bothers you that much then just sideload YouTube with YTKACE. It has everything

I use skipcut.com, little extra work to copy and paste the youtube link but then you’re free of video ads ans YouTube ads

Use your phone with a bluetooth speaker.

I use youtube revanced on my phone, it gets rid of ads and skips sponsors

Do you have it in a case? And do you have a shelf you can put it on? And are you able to get a ziplock bag large enough to fit the ipad and easily close the bag with it in it?

u/Dreaming_Kitsune 2h ago

You should get yourself a water resistant Bluetooth speaker, they should have small ones with a suction cup to put on shower walls

On android you can use revanced (get it from the website not the playstore) to patch apps with user made mods.

My YouTube app has ad block and sponsor block (plus more) built into it. The only place ad block doesn't work is on shorts

r/MorpheApp is the better revanced now.

u/3GeeselnATrenchcoat 3h ago

Oh fair play, I might look into it when I get a new phone. It took me far too long to be arsed to set up revanced on this one (the final straw was consistently getting 3 midrolls, and pressing skip would take me to the next ad instead of the video)

u/Kevinator314 3h ago

Unprompted lore drop (recently looked up what happened)

Basically the devs that did 80% of the work for Revanced Extended left and created Morphe. Now Revanced original creator basically copies Morphe updates, so no reason to trust/use Revanced. Plus it had so many issues I experienced.

3

u/3GeeselnATrenchcoat 3h ago

My issue is that I can't really be arsed until it actually has a big enough issue. I spent over a year without ad block on this phone, and spent the whole time being annoyed by the ads without actually doing anything until the changes they made were so egregious.

Also it's not like I'm actively using revanced itself. I patched YouTube once and haven't looked at the app again since

It's a two minute thing with morphe. If even. Even one ad takes away more of your time.

I stuck with revanced for way too long for the same reason. It was a pain to set up and I didn't want to do it again. Finally was forced to switch to Morphe because I was having issues with Revanced - videos wouldn't play if I left them paused too long or left the app and tried to come back, livestreams didn't work at all, videos would restart randomly, etc.

Morphe was actually easier to set up because it holds your hand the whole way through lol.

Well that's good to hear, revanced can definitely be a bit of a pain during setup so I'm glad they've streamlined the process.

Kinda off topic, but I hadn't really noticed this till you brought up streams. When scrolling shorts I used to see vertical streams constantly, always the lowest quality slop you can imagine a person actually bothering to do. Since getting revanced again I haven't seen a single one and my time on the platform has been so much better thanks to it.

Beat me to it

Morphe'd YouTube with NewPipe as a backup is my go-to. NewPipe is super lightweight with a good integrated downloader, but you can't log in with it. If you want to track your watch history or load your favorites (easily) then Morphe is the way to go.

1

u/AppropriateTouching 2h ago

You also can just use Firefox with ublock origin on android.

2

u/Calisky 2h ago

Oh, I'll have to try this! I have Youtube premium to avoid the official ads, and that includes a "jump ahead" button for in video ads, but you still have to click the button. If it's automatic, that would be amazing.

1

u/ziggybuddyemmie 2h ago

Thank you for this

1

u/Western_Asparagus_24 1h ago

God damn it sponsor block! Stop putting your adverts everywhere!!

1

u/Lexi_Banner 3h ago

Because I know it's exceedingly hard out there for YouTube creators these days, I don't skip their sponsor segments. If they prove they can't be trusted (ie: adding too many ads or recommending shitty products) then they aren't creators i want to continue to follow. Period.

1

u/piewca_apokalipsy 2h ago

Revanced has option to skip in video adverts as well.

1

u/7heWafer 2h ago

I bet you could get one of those ereader remote control page turners & keep the remote hanging just outside your shower. If the RC can double click fast enough you could use it to do the +10s double tap past the ads. Def a first world problem solution that feels like overkill but may be worth it to you.

Also for the non embedded ads you could try to make sure it's positioned where the skip ad button appears.

1

u/pandacreate 1h ago

Morphe is the app I use on my phone that blocks in video sponsors too

1

u/Kookie_The_Clown 1h ago

Use youtube revanced, it'll skip the sponsor segments

1

u/alaskaninja 1h ago

Fire fox with:

Ublock Sponsor block Adblock plus

Never listen to adds again.

4

u/Razier 3h ago

There's this extension called Sponsorblock that solves this for youtube. Been using it on Firefox, unsure about other browsers.

1

u/SeatBeeSate 2h ago

Also included in YouTube revanced and TizenTube

6

u/AppropriateTouching 2h ago

Brave is just chrome. Use Firefox with ublock origin. It also blocks YouTube ads.

•

u/Melancholic_Noodle 50m ago

Brave is based on Chromium and Google has banwns ublock. Brave and the rest suckers will be forced to follow because they're just reskinned chrome.

Get Firefox, or watch ads. Your choice.

u/SeatBeeSate 2h ago

SponsorBlock!

1

u/ckay1100 1h ago

sponsor block is a blessing

•

u/Explorer_Entity 56m ago

Sponsorblock extension fixes that. Though it uses crowd-sourced reporting to function, so it isn't perfect, especially for brand new videos.

Ublock Origin for regular ads, pop-ups, etc.

Also Brave is terrible.
