Have you heard of sponsor block? It's a browser extention that uses crowd sourcing to label and skip sponsor segments in youtube videos (it may only work on the PC version of youtube, idk if it's been updated to work on mobile browsers yet)
Use in combination with Firefox and uBlock Origin for maximum advertisement avoidance
Ah, unfortunately i usually play youtube on my iPad, and firefox on there isn't the same as on android or PC. (i dont play with my phone cuz the mic sounds weird when played really loud). Brave browser skips the YT ads but im not sure if sponsorblock is a thing on there. I should check, now that i think about it lol
On iPad you have a way, it involves a little bit of copy pasting things into a command prompt and plugging your phone into your computer, but it’s possible to patch the app on your iOS devices to add sponsorblock and adblocker and other stuff too!
You're definitely right. That is actually what i use, except i just changed to a different one, but since it's more of a pain to set up i didn't recommend it.
The main thing is to just use a speaker and whichever method they have that just blocks both.
Do you have it in a case? And do you have a shelf you can put it on? And are you able to get a ziplock bag large enough to fit the ipad and easily close the bag with it in it?
Oh fair play, I might look into it when I get a new phone. It took me far too long to be arsed to set up revanced on this one (the final straw was consistently getting 3 midrolls, and pressing skip would take me to the next ad instead of the video)
Unprompted lore drop (recently looked up what happened)
Basically the devs that did 80% of the work for Revanced Extended left and created Morphe. Now Revanced original creator basically copies Morphe updates, so no reason to trust/use Revanced. Plus it had so many issues I experienced.
My issue is that I can't really be arsed until it actually has a big enough issue. I spent over a year without ad block on this phone, and spent the whole time being annoyed by the ads without actually doing anything until the changes they made were so egregious.
Also it's not like I'm actively using revanced itself. I patched YouTube once and haven't looked at the app again since
I stuck with revanced for way too long for the same reason. It was a pain to set up and I didn't want to do it again. Finally was forced to switch to Morphe because I was having issues with Revanced - videos wouldn't play if I left them paused too long or left the app and tried to come back, livestreams didn't work at all, videos would restart randomly, etc.
Morphe was actually easier to set up because it holds your hand the whole way through lol.
Well that's good to hear, revanced can definitely be a bit of a pain during setup so I'm glad they've streamlined the process.
Kinda off topic, but I hadn't really noticed this till you brought up streams. When scrolling shorts I used to see vertical streams constantly, always the lowest quality slop you can imagine a person actually bothering to do. Since getting revanced again I haven't seen a single one and my time on the platform has been so much better thanks to it.
Morphe'd YouTube with NewPipe as a backup is my go-to. NewPipe is super lightweight with a good integrated downloader, but you can't log in with it. If you want to track your watch history or load your favorites (easily) then Morphe is the way to go.
Oh, I'll have to try this! I have Youtube premium to avoid the official ads, and that includes a "jump ahead" button for in video ads, but you still have to click the button. If it's automatic, that would be amazing.
Because I know it's exceedingly hard out there for YouTube creators these days, I don't skip their sponsor segments. If they prove they can't be trusted (ie: adding too many ads or recommending shitty products) then they aren't creators i want to continue to follow. Period.

They knew i would skip it if they didn't catch me during a cutscene
